Tyler Joseph is desperate... New TWENTY ONE PILOTS. First time reaction & Vocal Analysis

This band has so many sounds. They never cease to surprise me with their nods to different genres or songs. But I wasn't quite prepared for how hard this one would hit me.

    • You are very good at deciphering how Tyler expresses his emotions. He can do it perfectly because these are his real emotions, inside experiences .

  • Not so coincidentally, if you watch footage from young Tyler Joseph becoming a musician, you see a person comfortable with trying and doing ridiculous things. Makes sense his voice benefitted from that characteristic.

    • Great observation. I've always loved how Tyler embraces and uses his eccentricity in his physical performance but never thought of it in relation to his voice before.

  • One thing about tyler's voice too, is that it's much easier to express the emotions you're trying to convey when they are emotions you have deeply experienced. Tyler can put so much emotion into hia voice. So much of that pain, because he's been there. I could be wrong, since I'm no vocalist, but I think it would be very difficult to match by someone who has never been that far down. Tyler is probably the only vocalist I've heard/can remember that has effected my so profoundly by the emotion he puts into his voice.

  • I’m an old school punk, ex-record store manager, and given my age ( but excellent taste 😉 ), I was late to them. I dug “Stressed Out”, and “Ride” but mistook their “look” to be bratty kids… boy was I wrong!!! I did a deep dive during the lockdown ( because they seemed to bang out a GREAT song, abt the pandemic, RIGHT AWAY!! -“Level of Concern “. It might have been a coincidence, and maybe he had that one ready to go, but I don’t think so. I loved and do love that song, and got me doing a deep dive on them. I was BLOWN AWAY by the duo!!! I now know EVERY SONG by them. And have been listening to everything they’ve done constantly for the last 4 yrs. Great reaction video!!! You got a new subscriber!!!

    • I'm sure he wrote it in the moment. If you consider all the writing he did during the pandemic for Scaled and Icy ("scaled back and isolated," he can certainly churn out the hits. It's like he showed us in Pet Cheetah (and even Levitate), he has to practice to stay on his toes. Pet Cheetah, according to its lyrics, is a song to stretch and flex those writing muscles, he almost threw it away, but kept it because it was helping him. Eminem's similar with how he constantly writes and "practices" and they use their entire vocal range, including a lot of fallcetto.

  • Love how you described Tyler's music as connected and vulnerable. Out absolutely makes a difference. I feel that so many artists who have a meteoric rise fizzle out so quickly because they do it for the fame or money. It feels like Tyler does it to stay sane and grounded and it shows

  • Tyler is such a beautiful and true artist. I remember discovering TØP when my wife and I started renovations on our first home in 2013. Here we are in 2024, and it's my 6 year old daughters favorite artist, and I will be seeing them live with my best friends in Detroit for the 5th time in September. Such a dopamine hit, this song especially. I'll be singing it loud with red duct tape on my jumpsuit.

  • "that's the kind of connection we all want with our voice..." That 's one of the several things I love and admire sooo much in Tyler.... I'm an actress and singer and that's always the gem we are looking for, I think...the combination of true emotion, vulnerability and techniqe... that's artistry!! Thanks Chris for ths reacion!!! As always, I learn a lot.... 💖💀👽🔥🎶✨

I wasn't expecting you to be a Tøp fan tbh, if you haven't listened to Tyler's storyteller perfomance then you should check it out because Tyler's vocals in that perfomance are angelic. I would also recommend the livestream experience songs, they are in a playlist in Tøp's channel. I would lastly recommend Level of Concern (live from outside). Much love bro, love your reactions ❤

  • Twenty One Pilots is incredible, all the albums of Twenty One Pilots are. Talking about desperation, the first album ever "Twenty One Pilots" reeeeally shows that trait in Tyler's voice, and the lyrics of the songs reflect that perfectly. It is a rawer more natural album that shows the original starting Tyler, pretty good!

    @enzobaroni7456@enzobaroni7456Ай бұрын
    • The self titled album is the only album that I can remember that can repeatedly make me openly cry. I'm sure many of us have lived those songs. And the main reason I love TØP so much is because despite that pain, he couples it with the hope to carry on and not give in.

  • Your comment about being able to practice/learn some of the voice skills is reitterated in the Vessel 10th Anniversary livestream. Tyler let us hear some of the recordings from his teenage sessions in his basement. They were rough, but they showed how much repetition he used to get the sound and inflections he wanted. If you havnt seen it, I recommend watching that part.

  • I really love this video and your analysis! One of the few who really get it. I just have to add, that if you listen much to their music and also to the older stuff, you can feel the difference he is delivering this topic. In this song he is very open about his experience with his attempt on suicide. You can hear this growth since then in this performance. Also when he sings ''can't change what you've done'' in the end, you feel the relieve that he came to that conclusion and can go further in his life, since he became a father and has a wife he loves. This song is perfect in every way.

As well as your voice; especially with how you’re a voice teacher; and are very knowledgeable; about singing. You are a very remarkable singer. So what is your voice type? Are you a Tenor or Baritone or BariTenor? ✌️

I’m actually honored to have; the same voice type; as you, sir. Your videos are also quite informative; on how a person is to; build a voice; of their own. And you have deemed me such; a helpful tool; in my singing journey. The truth is that my voice kind of goes into tenor territory; but I need a stronger grip on my head voice; for my tenor voice to really be fully developed. Do you have any tips for stronger development of my head voice; that could help me out?
