This is literally the happiest I've been all day. As a left hander who uses a right handed lathe I am in awe of every piece turned. Is it just me who gets butterflies with every single pass?! Beautiful piece of turning and beautiful wood, thank you for sharing

Great video. I'm a novice woodturner and I'm wondering what kind of chuck you're using to hold the Apple for the second half of your cutting.
@bravekumquat30147 жыл бұрын
The chuck I've made for turning the bottom of each apple is called a "Screw Chuck". To make your own, turn a piece of hard wood (I'm using Oak) between centres, make a spigot on one end to fit in your main chuck. Mount this in the chuck and turn a concave recess to fit the top of the apples. Now with the tail stock drill a 3 mm hole right through for a No.8 3" wood screw. Now before removing it from the lathe mark an indexing point on the screw chuck & your lathe chuck. This is to ensure that each time you use it, it remains centred. Pad the concave recess with several layers of paper towel.
