  • I worked for 4 years in the early 70's in Michelin factories making and inspecting D20 tyres on manual machines which was hard work.

    • Most likely the date stamp on which the tire was made. For example, a tire stamped 3723 would indicate that tire was manufactured the 37th week of the year 2023, same for one stamped 4413, manufactured the 44th week of the 2013.

  • There are 2 Michelin Tire factories in South Carolina. Neither of them is automated. 1 of the factories is over 50 years old and when you are on the factory floor it really shows its age. Some machines are older than the people using them.

  • They way normal tyres are made is filmed really well, the way large tyres are made is filmed really bad (too long courts, solemnly of small details of machinery without oversight, and without any views of the actual process when it is taking place)!

  • Why not make smooth roads?

    @markgish1666@markgish16663 ай бұрын
    • That precisely what we DO. Even so you need rubber tyres for grip (in order not to start sliding left or right and in order not to keep sliding forward in bends in the road or when applying the brakes) and for shock absorption.
