  • Jimmy is spot on. Best of 11 for World Championship qualifiers was ridiculous.

  • I was Born in 1965 and at four and a half I became addicted to watching Pot Black. For my fifth birthday I wanted a snooker table. My Father got me an 8 by 4, Inch that is not foot. I wasn't buying it. Even at five I knew I knew I could lean across an 8 inch table to take a shoot like Doug Mountjoy . So I retired at 5 years and 1 month when my snooker table broke while trying to lean across it, I had no rest you see. I am now 58 and still watching and loving The Snooker Magic. Its in the blood red balls.

    • PS. The little snooker table was made in China! So China have been making snooker tables for at lest 53 years and haven't produced a World Champion yet. YET!

  • I only got back into snooker this year after seeing Stephen Hendry’s KZhead channel pop up in my recommendations, I haven’t watched snooker properly for a good 10+ years. Seeing the players on a human level and having a casual chat with Stephen was surprisingly very entertaining. Some sort of T20 version of snooker would be interesting especially on terrestrial TV to get more casuals like me interested.

  • First to 18 for the final, yes. First to 10 for the first round yes. I would tweak it so that the target is 2 extra frames each round, so 12 then 14 then 16. 6,7,8,9 would be fine for the qualifying rounds, again so each round requires a little bit more.

    @tobyharling719@tobyharling719 Жыл бұрын
    • I would make the Qualifiers and all rounds to the final best of 19, with the final being best of 25. The tournament is far too long. I would get rid of best of 7 frame matches in the home series events and make all matches best of 11 frames to the final with the final best of 19. I would also change the ranking sytem. Make it a rolling one year system instead of two and have a separate monthly rolling ranking sytem with the entry of more tournaments dependant on a players current monthly ranking. I would have a 30 sec shot clock in tournaments with two 90 sec extensions per frame. I would have more ten red and 6 red tournaments on the calendar.

  • Jimmy is right about the entertainment aspect. Snooker with flashing lights and music is just stupid. The game is about contemplation and focus. It requires refinement and respect from the audience, not a party.

  • For me the format is great apart from the 33 frames for the semi, always felt too close to the best of 35 which should imo be a totally different experience from every other round. I think 31 or 29 would be better.

    @laurentkelly150@laurentkelly150 Жыл бұрын
    • I remember up until some time in the 90s, a semi-final match would be a best-of 31 affair which I could understand. Either that or we revert to the final being a best of 47 affair which I'm not sure would go down well in this day and age.

      @heliumtrophy@heliumtrophy Жыл бұрын
  • There needs to be one more tournament where matches are longer, like in the 80s when it was best of 31 finals. China dropping means there isn't the excuse of too many tournaments anymore, the endless best of 17 and best of 19 finals get samey

  • Snooker's problem is that it is stuck in the 80s, there is no other sport that lives in the past like Snooker. Yes Snooker was massive back when there was 3 TV channels to watch but its time to move on and grow the sport. It doesn't help that they wheel out presenters and commentators from that era who just want to remember their glory days.
