that's not what spawn killing even is, what they mean is if you get I a jet, and kills someone ever, and over as soon as they spawn, yes you can ghost them, but as far as ik ghosting only lasts for for so long, and has some type of cool down

They have been encouraging griefing since the beginning of Online by providing the massive session-wide pop up when selling shit like cargo There is no fixing griefing at all

Sure they could; they can disable those session-wide alerts to business activities, remove all other's player blips from the minimap, make it impossible for other players to directly/ indirectly damage one another, remove Bounties, the ability to call Mercenaries from either Merryweather or the Facility Security terminal, & remove the Orbital Cannon entirely from the game. I think that covers everything...

Because griefing, in their opinion, is specifically targeting a player by spawnkilling them or following them into different sessions (so blowing up cargo is okay according to rockstar), with this said, your point still stands: banning people for it is ridiculous and hypocritical.

The way I understand it is that, Rockstar's definition of griefing is not the same as the players' definition of griefing. In Rockstar's POV, griefing means harassing players, using exploits and glitches, witchhunting people, etc. In Rockstar's eyes, destroying cargo doesn't count as griefing. So, I don't think this actually means what people think it means. No, people aren't gonna get banned for destroying cargo or killing you. Because in Rockstar's eyes, that stuff doesn't count as griefing. If they didn't want people destroying cargo, they wouldn't have made it possible to begin with.
I would love to see them get pinged so many times to the point they roll back on their terrible community guidelines cause it sucks and have to be reminded big time

See I'm not mad at that. I don't mind if someone blows up my cargo or me. I have a problem with when it's time for me to get my luck back, they are in God Mode and they are invisible from the radar the entire time and they can't be killed by rockets, orbital cannon or any weapon.

We're now in a time where PvP amounts to hiding off radar and in RC vehicles, Mk II spamming, and the occassional orbital canon. They're essentially putting a bandaid on a festering open wound.

I managed to stick around late 2022 through early 2023 as I was into freemode pvp, without it I don't know if I would've lasted the way I did.
Freemode PVP is already dead. It's so rare I find a fight that is actually fun anymore. Peoole constantly escalate fights until all parties are pretty much sitting in their facilities trying to orb the first one to go outside.

An enemy player is moving cargo, destroy it for $2000 and RP rewards. Also Rockstar: An enemy player is moving cargo, destroy it for a ban.
That's not how this works. Rockstar specifically stated that griefing in UNintended ways, is a bannable offense. The cargo and business vehicles are VERY MUCH INTENDED!
@@Kyugorn blowing up cargo is not a banable offense. It’s still encouraged. But using cheats and exploits to do so, as well as extreme toxicity, will.
This is super subjective. Lets say i witness a level 1000 destroying a level 10s cargo over and over. The level 10 is determined but doesn't realise he can find a new session and repeatedly gets destroyed. I decide to intervene and bully the level 1000 a bit so the level 10 can actually play the game. Can that dude report me and get me banned? Technically i am intentionally annoying and killing another player 🤷♂️

That's my concern as well, griefers are definitely going to abuse the new moderation system to get people who retaliate against their BS suspended or outright banned. They're willing to DDOS people and get their Microsoft accounts banned, so don't put abusing the moderation system beneath them.

I understand the stream sniping and people intentionally ruining races or other game modes. But spawn killing shouldn't count as griefing. If it's that much of an issue they should add in 10 sec spawn protection, but make it so the player also can't shoot other players for those 10 secs.

They’re gonna do what they always do. These measures will attack everyone but the problem. It’s already pretty obvious that cargo griefing is okay, but now if I retaliate against the cargo griefer, I can get banned.

Players and some vehicle spawns can be influenced by facing away from the desired area for them to appear in. Most players catch on quick to doing that when calling a personal vehicle but if you kill someone and then look away from where you want them to spawn, you can look back and they will most likely be there. It's more of a spawn trap than a spawn kill.
If this for freemode im fully done with the game but if its for people on your team in missions or if one of your ceo members griefs your cargo… then thats okay, ban em

Now do these mechanisms against voice chat abuse work for non-English speaking regions? Hard to account for insults in every known language.
I play on PC and I say it doesn't make any difference there, so much, because more than 90% of a lobby uses mod menu, they are unplayable. So it wasn't possible to grief anyway.
They made it so easy to grief other players, even in OG contact missions ive had random team members just run me over and kill me to ruin the job. Only now they want to crack down on cheaters/griefers? I wont believe it until i see it honestly. The game itself promotes griefing while telling players to attack other people's cargo - and gave* them an orbital cannon to do it 🤦

I’m worried about the spawn trapping as I snipe a lot a beach and airport and have memorized the spawns so am I going to get punished for having lots of experience in the game and being quick on the sticks

Making all these changes now makes me think gta 6 online is a long ways off. 6 will probably come out soon but the online part might be a ways off. Can't really think of any other reasons for them making this many changes in this games final stage of life
One theory is that rockstar is implementing all these new radical ideas and changes now as a way of testing to see the best ways to do gta 6. In other words they are essentially treating gta 5 online as a ghinnie pig to find out how they should run gta 6 online

It sounds like Rockstar created their own monster. And now they're penalizing the players. I got griefed mercilessly when I started playing this game. Here's what I did I kept practicing and getting better until now I win close to 80% of my 1v1s. If you're not good don't complain. Practice
how much patience would you say you have for fights? any thoughts on the sheer amount of time people fight in online? Long fights irritate me personally, other and less boring stuff to do for me.
To Pvp in general you just need to have knowledge + right weapons / vehicles / and how to counter whatever a person is using + playstyle they use. Like a random casual noob - Would probably try and fight somebody using Tank head on and get spawn killed when really option B: Is to spawn a counter like Toreador / Mk2 asap and end the Tank easily before going back to foot or using that vehicle for couple kills. If somebody is cracked at Sniper vs Sniper and your getting beaten - Change the tactics and maybe try close up combat or vehicles - perhaps you can exploit a weakness they have. - These conditions usually beat like 80% of the casuals fighting by outsmarting them vs having superior or elite aim. Tryhards / PvPers already think like this- And these battles can be really long even when they are fighting fair because are same guys are most likely to teleport, orbit , use rc vehicles , off radar, ghost , thermal snipe pretty much everything Online has to offer to win + You need counter that or else they going to win easily with those tactics.
I noticed that the "Report" menu has been updated with the same descriptions from the updated Guidelines. Last night, in a lobby of about 12 players, 2-3 low to mid level players attacked me (first) and I fought back killing them 3-4 times. I saw two distinct "players are voting for you to be kicked" notifications and assumed it was two of the three chasing me around to "get their kills back" and shortly after I was BOOTED from the session with the message "you were kicked by other players." I've seen the message before, but this is the first time that I've actually gotten tossed from the session. Perhaps FEWER votes are necessary now?
Maybe, it has always taken like 1/2 the lobby to vote you out so that is possible. Join a CEO and start a mission when they start reporting you I believe that keeps you in.
5:03 For once I disagree with you. I never give ground to the "It's GTA" excuse - not when GTA IV allowed people to setup freeroam lobbies where you couldn't directly harm other players. Given almost every single one you joined had that turned on, I'd say that spoke volumes about how the playerbase wanted to treat freeroam - because if you want to fight players, Deathmatches exist for that reason. All GTA Online needed was that same system, with 2 additions; 1. Allow players to choose if they wanted to join a PvP-Off or On lobby, just like how it already divides us between our aiming settings. 2. The option to perma-ghost yourself to individual players, just in case someone tried to grief you in those PvP-Off lobbies trying to endlessly hit you with a car & keep you grounded, like RC Car trolling K/D Warriors. I'd rather "just go on a rampage" WITH players and take on the whole city, instead of AGAINST players and the city being a distraction.
So they don't want you to grief players BUT the game is to a relevant extent designed to have PvP scenarios where, in the end, you do end up grief other players, especially when you destroy someone's cargo: you are literally prevent them to gain money and thus progress through the game. That's very contradictory. Or Rockstar has double standards: if you grief and you make someone else loosing money then it's "fine" in their eyes...
The problem isnt griefing itself, its the extreme strength of some tools. I like pvp sometimes and with no griefers id have to become the aggressor to get it(which i dont like doing)
I think the problem is people not knowing passive mode and invite only lobbies exist

No, it's all about the money. The shark card money is with non-griefers. If they "clean" the game up little kids who will use mom's debit card won't leave the game. Toxic griefers don't spend, so... to the curb with them.
I think they need to focus on only removing modders from online, I don't mind getting greifed cause i can always fight back, but against modders im nothing, litteraly nothing, modders prettty much own my account
I play invite only sessions to make money. The other problem is Moders on PC that will ruin a room. The problem with greifers is having your vehicle blown up, then having to call insurance to get it back. Then get back to where you were. Too much time.
Whats the cut off for being considered a griefer? 5 kills on someone? 10 kills?... and how exactly do they verify whats happened? Can i just lie abour how many times somebody killed me? How do they determine how the altercation began? If somebody kills me first a few times and i get a come back and start killing them is that ok? Lol... i feel like whoever wrote this doesn't have a solid understanding of gta or online gaming in general
My only problem is since its A.I. the system can easily be abused and the tryhards will end up abusing this system when they get upset to get you banned. If this system is actually going to work it needs to compare player stats like how often they blow up cargo, or the type of players they typically go after like, low levels, do they leave jobs a lot, or if they've been in bad sport before, etc. Obviously it still wouldn't be perfect but it would be a lot better. Plus blowing up cargo should work like personal vehicles so if you go into every lobby and blow up 10 pieces of cargo each time your rep goes down and eventually you go into bad sport since that's griefing. But the bad sport threshold would have to be lowered since right now you have to blow up like 50 vehicles in a row to get into badsport.

i hunt griefers everyday and get reported by these window lickers all the time apparently it's fine for them to fly around on a broomstick killing anyone who dares to play the game but as soon as i kill them i'm a griefer . The other issue is getting reported for cheating by players who lack knowledge of the game mechanics for example i've been reported multiple times for being in " god mode " because noobs couldn't shoot me out through the windscreen of my halftrack and crap like that.

I haven't played the game in a few weeks and didn't see these changes coming. I mostly wonder how it's going to work when someone attacks you first. What if you retaliate and utterly destroy them? Would that be considered griefing? Could you be suspended/banned for that? I'm just going to wait a while and see what happens in the community before I choose to hop back on the game
I only play in open lobby just to see what’s happening out there. But when I’m grinding for my businesses, I play in invite only session or with my friends in a closed friend lobby.
If there's something they need to do, is make the report function… functional. It's literally just buttons you press, they aren't reports that anyone and anything is going to check.

No. All that happened is that people reported you for annoying them via voice chat and it banned you until you got your friends or someone to commend you so it would get removed.
Trying to destroy someone's cargo is just part of the game. They definitely should add measures to make it a lot harder, though. And anyone who's played the game legitimately is not gonna constantly use their orbital cannon anyway given the price it's hardly a greifer tool unless you glitch it but that's not the way the game intended.

What do they consider griefing, that’s my biggest concern. Going by their detention, using the shunt boost launch method against randoms in cars is “griefing”, so could I be punished for that? Whole thing seems concerning.

the rules do not change anything. the rules also cannot ban you. rockstar have to do this and this is the reason nothing will change. the guidelines of gta online never allowed cheaters and modders. and they never did anything against it. they also never talked about to actively do anything at all. they just announced they will change the guidelines. thats basically it.

I think they will b try different srtats I've been play for 4 so ood years and the whole mic thing I keep mine off because they can listen in weathered or not talking shit which i don't do anything its like they permanently have game chat on off but can listen in if they choose bot or not. I'm perfectly fine with anti-griefing measures (except considering killing a player as griefing when there's multiple options to counter this if you don't wanna be PvP) but if they're gonna do that, then they need to remove that BS where people can just blow up your cargo. Destroying another players Cargo is encouraged, despite there being almost no actual rewards, meaning the reason 99% of people actually destroy your cargo is BECAUSE they wanna grief you. How is normal open world PvP not okay, but destroying cargo is fine. Well, destroying cargo makes you play the game more to get it back, aka, it helps Rockstars metrics. Just another reinforcement that Rockstar cares less and less about their fans with each passing day...

I think "griefing" refers more to the usage of cheat menus and stalking and harassment than lobby fights. I was literally fighting some clown who was loitering around a business battle for no other reason than to grief me while I was getting crates and he didn't get a single kill and the fool was macro'ing RPGs left and right. I blasted him three times and each time he spawned directly within view of me in front of the paleto bay factory-thing that one of the crate battles happens at. There's literally no way either of us could not kill each other where we were standing, I was sweating my bag off trying to get out of there with my crate and not get my sparrow blown up. The guy was clearly griefing, and I literally had no choice but to gun him down as soon as he appeared in front of me in the street. So there's no judgement call on either of that, because what I did was out of necessity to survive and take my crate, and he was being a fucking dick, but despite the macro'ing that I think should be patched with a forced reload time with no reset on RPGs and Homing launchers - the guy didn't do anything that the game doesn't allow you to do. But he was being a prick, I don't want guys like that to get banned but I do want to be able to tell them what for when I beat them and get the crates back to my nightclub.
Makes me wonder when they say cheating and exploits, dose that include things like the new easy way to get all the weapons and gear by just climbing up on the roof in the set up mission for the cluckin Bell raid? Also I have seen so many people find work arounds for using the N word and crap like that for their CEO name. I really don’t think they will be able to stop griefing completely unfortunately. I guess we’ll see where this goes.

they just changed the guidelines. they never talked about to do anything about it in terms of banning people. they never did and they probably dont start today 3with that. the only thing they will enforce is voice and text chats. because they have an automated tool for that(AI). and also just when it is completely bulletproof(otherwise they need to deal with reports and actually spend resources on that.)

Be nice if they would change passive mode to where you can still be a ceo/mc, use guns and still do work but cant kill other players and other players cant kill you

Passive mode should never existed and about 30 years ago they were making games with PVE mode and PVP mode... Why did this change? if there is a guy that doesn't want to kill people put him in a lobby with other people that don't want to kill people? RDR 1 had this option. I remember you can spawn kill with the avenger with thermal. Your heat signature will light before your screen fades out from black. Good times... dont worry, we only did that to griefers or anyone that killed us...

I am glad to hear this. In the past because of trolls and morons ruining the experience for me with spawn killing and god mode in online has put me off playing online until now.
The "destroy this guy's cargo to get rewarded" stuff should've been a balanced game aspect where getting griefed would only put a small amount of your hours worth of grinding at risk so that along with the bonus you get for selling your cargo in a public lobby, risking it would be a good incentive for some challenge.

Had People stalking me and former friends via rockstar social club looking at the crews me and my friends were in to find us in lobbies and reported the person and nothing happened. One rule for one and one for another is rockstars philosophy

I was just banned today. I have never motto. I have never done anything sketchy but I kept killing one of my friend and now I can’t access the game and my characters are reset. Do you have anything I could do or if this can be reversed
