  • Are you guys in high range? It seems like you are. If so, definitely use low range in most of these situations. It also allows more control on desents.

  • In all seriousness; having a good off road rig is only part of it, having a wheelman who knows what he's doing really pays off! Appreciate the 'car jar' update, thanks Lance.

    • I'm still getting used to the proper lines for obstacles, grew up with four wheelers and did trails with full size vehicles a bunch but still way different than having actual large rocks/obstacles

      @TopLineRacer@TopLineRacer Жыл бұрын
  • If you both lowered your air pressure to 15 psi, you’d be able to complete more obstacles and have tons more control going down your obstacles.

    • I found and bought a 2009 H3 Alpha Adventure about a year ago, 85,000 miles. Factory lockers front and rear, factory 4:10 gears, Borg Warner transfer case and has the 5.3 LS motor in it. With magna flow exhaust and tuned on HP tuners its 350 Horse Power or so, Silver Flare metallic in color. I paid $17,000 for it. Its a jeep killer!!

  • Hummer was the only brand consistently beating Jeep in off-road competitions during their time of production. Both were dream vehicles of mine growing up. After owning a few Jeeps, I’ve finally purchased an 06 H3 with the rear locker. Tbh, I would recommend Hummer over ANY Jeep (including new) due to reliability. These things are seriously tanks. They WILL keep up with Jeep. They WILL do some crazy things with less chance of breaking. Though many SXS these (I would recommend it for better articulation with less chance of tipping over because these things are top heavy). The IFS is seriously impressive even with the underpowered 3.5l. Even swapping in a V8 makes these things much more appealing than a Jeep for those who really dislike constantly working on things. Imagine a 6.0 LS, 35s, and 3.5+ inches with a SXS. I hope they give us more options over the EV choices soon, but if not, it looks like I am going to be saving much more than intended for something I never wanted (EV). Because Hummer is engineered by those who push the limits of engineering reliability with quality parts and designs. Something you CANNOT beat with most automakers. The only other brand I would say comes close to reliability would be Toyota. They can take a beating 😉 Note; Where you got caught up towards the beginning before you put it in low. A stock Jeep would have been stuck on that frame even in low.

  • Dude, what a great vid! I'm from Australia and drive a GU Nissan Patrol, 3" lift with 33" muddies, and have always been tempted by the H3 even though it's a smaller rig. Was worried about how they go off road with the IFS and without the rear locker as most of the ones around here are the Luxury package without the locker or lower crawl ratios. Don't know yet if I'd trade the Patrol for a H3 right now, but it's great to see just how capable they are!

    @CondescendingCowboy@CondescendingCowboy11 ай бұрын
    • I'm not familiar with the Patrol as we we don't have them here in the U.S. so I can't give any thoughts on a comparison but the H3 is definitely plenty capable enough off road for most people.

  • Hi guys im new here...whats the best version of hummer to buy and whats the highest trim for that?

    @kingkweku9761@kingkweku97617 ай бұрын
  • Great video man! I am really surprised how hard you wheeled this offroad in basically stock form. Some things that I would recommend next time for your off-road trips for the H3 is to get some spare CV axles and tie rods. These two components are known to break the most offroad. I have personally have witnessed this multiple times when at Hummer Club events. When buying new CV axles, I would highly reccomend getting the AC Delco/GM Genuine and to avoid going with aftermarket brands such as Carquest or Cardone. All of the aftermarket CV axles are a little bit shorter than the GM Genuine ones so they will get stressed out easier when they are at full articulation and will break easier. Also, you were most likely will need to buy a socket for the axle nut if you do not have a lot of large sized sockets. For tie rods, if you are getting stock ones go with the 16mm ones which come with 2007+ H3s but will fit the 2006 H3 like you have no problem. Originally, the 2006 H3 came with 14mm tie rods and those are weaker. There used to be some heavy duty tie rods that you could buy but I am not sure if the company that makes them is still selling them today. But anyway great video!

    @4lowmode@4lowmode11 ай бұрын
    • Yeah I honestly couldn't believe how well it did. I appreciate your suggestions! I have an extra ACDelco CV but gotta do the tie rods at some point before too much more offroading

      @TopLineRacer@TopLineRacer11 ай бұрын
    • @@TopLineRacer If you haven't replaced the CV axles before there could be a good chance that they are rusted onto the hub bearing assembly since you got an east coast H3. So if you break a CV offroad it is probably not worth the effort of trying to change it on the trail. If they are not rusted on there a CV axle change typically takes about 1 hour for a trail fix. The company that sells heavy duty tie rods is called Outfitter Design LLC. These are the ones I have and they are great. They are around $400. Unfortunately, this past year they have been super inconsistent with having inventory in stock and they aren't saying anything whether or not they are going to be bringing them back. Some other possible options would be a company called Jeeperf that sells them. Only problem with those is that they are $1200 for a set. You could however, just choose to get the inner tie rod from them and that will be around $600. The reason why these Jeeperf ones are so expensive is that chromoly instead of using thicker steel material. Also, another possible option but I'm not sure, but you might be able to call up a company called Michigan Metal Works and have them make you a set. They currently don't sell them but they showed interest. Those I think would be around $600 but not sure on that 100%. But yeah all this depends if you want to spend the extra money on these or you could just go with the factory 16mm ones and if you break them, you can just swamp them out on the trail. Its honestly not that hard to do. Seen that happen to other H3 owners while I was out on the trail with them.
