This is gross industrial farming of them. It's not cuz they are cute or what ever. No animal belongs living it whole life in that setting. I wouldn't eat your rabbit meat. That's not how they should be treated, won't eat chickens or eggs if raised in the fashion. They are starved of even sun light

I don't judge people eat rabbit, but see some of the rabbits would never have a chance to run in the grass in their life journey, instead just a tiny small cage, it makes me feel really sad for them.

I have raised rabbits for meat off and on for over 30 years. Like many, I felt bad that the rabbits were so confined, so I built a large open pen where they could intermingle as they chose. It was a failed experiment. The males fought. The birds of prey took many, and the tunnels full of their offspring attracted snakes. Rattlesnakes. Life is brutal. Nothing dies of old age in the wild. It either dies of predation or starvation. The cage may not be so bad.

A bit more ground walking space and I'd consider. There are some chicken farms that make a pretty good example, Ive worked on one, "Bio" as we say in German, and they were able to run around. Its pricier for the buyer though, but worth it for the animals. Im glad to see how stress free the rabbits appear to be though!
The problem with having animals close to the ground is the bacteria they could accumulate, which is why it's safer to keep them in elevated cages. In the case of chicken it is not safe to keep them in pens at ground level because when defecating they would benefit the growth of bacteria that would make the chicken sick, the same for rabbits.
If rabbits are mass produced in a factory i rather have it done like shown here in this video. The place was clean, the rabbits looked healthy and stress free. im releaved i saw no torture or cruelty.
@@armandoperaltaduran3533 True! Thats the problem between psychological welfare vs. potential build up of diseases. I worked on a chicken farm that was "Bio" (a certificate in Germany for better circumstances for animal and product buyer) and they had more ground, less animals than conventional farms and little sliders at ground level that were able to clean the dirty floors. Though I cannot say anything about longterm success since the chickens were pretty young for the duration that I have worked there and thus had a good immune system and not much accumulation of feces in their stable. Im leaning towards optimal psychological welfare and thats why I demand more space, but I do understand that that may compromise physical health due to less cleanliness of environment.

there are many advantages to keeping rabbits like this, but rabbits are no longer free to run on the grass in the garden.
Ya'll can go on about whatever you want, but this cage design needs a serious shoutout. Most every hutch design Ive ever seen is wood based and is almost always disgustingly dirty. The ease in which they cleaned and sterilized there at the end is extremely impressive.
Not to mention the first farm. Had all of their cages with that cool plastic floor. Which is a lot more comfortable for the rabbits than the standard wire floors. That was cool.

This is by far one of the cleanest rabbit operation I’ve ever seen, granted this is in Europe and I haven’t seen anything in the states as high tech as this, the rabbits seem very humble, good , well cared for & beautiful meat rabbits

@@boarbot7829 Also, they have a much longer life in the farms then they would in the wild. Only 1 in 10 rabbits make it past 60 days old. That's why they breed like crazy!
Rabbit farming hits different than other types of animal farming. The rabbits don't see the sunlight or touch grass or have a sense of freedom, unlike other animals. I know chickens are in cages as well and very much like rabbits, but cage free farming is a thing in some places. Life to death in a matter of 3 months for these guys.
problem with rabbits is they're territorial, so must be kept alone once they reach a certain age or they will fight to the death (unless in HUGE areas of land where catching them would be impossible). They don't know any different in the way they're kept here, so it's really not going to bother them, just upsets us cause we do know different for ourselves & anthropomorphise. Anyway, I really don't have an issue with this, other than I think it's inefficient compared to larger animals & ones that can be housed together, so imo it makes more sense to farm larger animals instead. What does upset me though is angora wool farming, which is similar to this, but the animals are kept for years in that way, fur grows long, then it is ripped off their body until they are naked & bleeding all over & then those rabbits are put back into the little cages, cold & in pain & left there to grow the fur back ready for a repeat & that is their existence! It's done over & over & over! Please be aware & share with others that effectively all angora wool today comes from rabbits, not goats & via that method, generally from China, where there's no climate control for the rabbits, just long fur, then ripped out & freezing cold until it grows back again, then they get super hot for weeks before again having it ripped out to freeze & be in pain

Is the same as cage eggs vs free range pasture raised eggs, the vast majority don't come from the latter, the vast majority of rabbits breed for meat never see sunlight (and in reality, therefore probably don't miss it either, cause it's something they've never known & can't imagine)

@@imagay568 I didnt think they meant that at all. Seeing that the commenter is a rabbit owner, I understand how that feels since it is technically considered livestock in most areas in the world. I am not against eating rabbits and I have eaten rabbit dishes or so before but the truth about the method they use that they claim the rabbits they slaughter are ‘free ranged’ or out of the cage is literally the first part of this video. They don’t let these rabbits out at all, and they just mass produce a good amount of it for food or testing. This goes for a lot of animal farms as well. It is an unavoidable fact that we have at least eaten animals that came from these types of factories. Besides the point, you saying this is very insensitive. I personally do not hope that you own a pet species that is being used for animal testing or livestock that you have to feel the same emotions as this person. Wish you the best. x

They may not be our property (although I disagree), but they are food. If not for us, then for other carnivores. Have you ever seen a wolf or coyote kill a rabbit? I have. It is far bloodier and brutal. At least this process is humane.

One thing I realized about this comment section is how soft humans have become. We're omnivores, killing animals for food is not "bad", it's how nature work, eating to survive. Like predators won't feel for their prey so would we?

I grew up eating rabbits but not every day it was a special occasion only look I don't knock anyone hustle but this right here is the reason I don't buy meat in the supermarket or meat market I tell you why I grew up in the country life and since little are family had farms and we had all of our animal's outside in the land where they are free to enjoy life and they ate good no hormones or anything just fresh grass and they ate allot of almonds we had allot of almond and walnut trees we will shower them brush them I will hug them play with them I new one day that animal will be at the table but we made sure they lived a good life and everytime we had to kill a cow pig chicken fish anything we will blessed it and thank God for it Now you see all these videos showing all this technology how it's better and faster then you have the videos that shows reporters going undercover showing how they kill these animal's and how bad living conditions they in and forcing them to eat it breaks my heart seeing that animals are smart when you put thousands of them in a building where there's no sunlight no fresh hair no where for them to run around oh relax they are in constant anxiety like a bad depression and this gets them sick or attacking and killing other chickens so why would I buy meat from the market knowing these animals suffered all them packaging about cage free natural organic food is all lies don't fall for that bull💩 I been raising my chickens for over 20yrs and also fresh eggs I also grow my own vegetables and fruits, herbs yeah it's allot of work but it's all worth it I do recommend people to start growing their own food not only it's healthy but you know exactly where your food is coming from and you know it's fresh with no chemicals God bless yah all have a safe and blessed day God is good dios los bendiga And if you raising animal's for food please treat them more special than the other animals that you not using for food they don't deserve to be treated like 💩💩💩just because they for food they have a heart and feelings just like humans ......
