DON'T FORGET... let me know what level you scored on this test?
Basic 10 Intermediate 10 Advanced 8 Wow... I'm actually better than i thought!!😃😃😃
9 for basic 9 for intermediate 6 for advanced 🎉
7 for basic 6 for intermediate 3 for advanced Thank you for this great test, Chris!
10 basic level 8 intermediate I failed the advanced level test terribly 😭 I could guess only 2
7/10 basics 8/10 intermediate 7/10 advanced The basics made me sweat. Even though I know I am fluent, I thought I would get stuck on the basics😅
As a native speaker who's interested in proofreading, I got 28/30 😅. I'd never heard of "thick as thieves", and I've been saying "by foot" instead of "on foot" my whole life. Glad I got to learn something new haha
by walking / on foot ... right? I'm not a native speaker but I've been taught so.
@@casek7531 'By walking' isn't wrong, but it sounds a little bit unnatural. Using 'on foot' or just 'walk' (e.g. 'I walked to school) would be the most natural in my opinion.
These words make me feel better with my English level😅
@@yeahSloom That's good to know. Thanks Ta
@@casek7531the same!
As someone who taught himself english, I got 10/10, 10/10 and 9/10. I had never heard “thick as thieves” and I am confused why we can’t just say “close as twins”.
Maybe it’s cus he’s using idiomatic words from his country
@@InglesInfinito Yeah, I think so
"thick as thieves "is an idiom spoken just about everywhere. "Close as twins" is not idiomatic.
@@footscorn thanks 😊
Good job
I got more incorrect anwers in B1/B2 level than with those in C1/C2 level, lol :)))
Me 2!
same here
Literally happened the same to me, but I got more wrong in the A1/A2, than in the C1/C2. WTF
Hold my beer
Me too and i wonder why
Never knew "a wind-up" means a practical joke in British English. Thank you!
I hope nobody has come played one on you ☺️
same here.....
Did anyone else have more correct answers on the advanced test than on the intermediate, or is it just me? xD
Level a 8/10 level b 6/10 level C 8/10
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for this test. For me I've got 8/10 _8/10_then 5/10
I literally got all of them right in the advanced but made some preposition mistakes in the basic 😂
Before you finish reading what the question is asking the time is over. In this case is your answer right or wrong?
That’s me, I got 1 miss on the advanced and 3 misses on intermediate level. I believe advanced level is easier by intuition when you consume a lot of content but kinda ignore the grammar and don’t learn it specifically.
In advanced level it would be better introduce more grammar tasks than vocabulary ones..Because most of the questions in Advanced level have been based on idioms which are more complicated for non-native speakers.
I got all correct except one. The idiomatic expression "as thick as thieves" was new to me.
I hope you can start using it 😊
I think after living in the UK for 20 years...I am pretty pleased to know my English ...and I answered all of them correctly. I would be disappointed if I didn't.
Get in!
7 for basic 5 for intermediate 4 for advanced Thank you for this test☺
Really fascinating lesson!!! Thanks a bunch. Keep on making more videos.
This is undoubtedly one of the best channels for learning English (I m at intermediate level)
Very nice. Insightful video. Thank you!
Excellent exercise! Many thanks!!!
Amazing! I've an intermediate level🎉. Thank so much for that useful content.
I enjoyed watching this video pretty much because it was useful for me, I realized that there are a lot of things to learn.
Best looking English teacher ever!❤
French Canadian here, self-taught English since the age of 15, I'm 55 now. Been a slow and continuous process. Made two mistakes in the C category, mostly vocabulary related. Hadn't taken English tests for a few years. For 2024, I'll put in some time in vocabulary, pronunciation and revisiting fundamental grammar rules. :)
Excellent video so informative
Thank you, where are you messaging from?
Thanks for this such useful video ❤
Excellent video 👌👌👍👍👋👋👋🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
It was helpful to check myself... ✔ Thanks a million
You’re welcome
Awesome 👏
You are amazing!
Thank you so much.
Thanks for helping❤
You’re welcome ☺️
I started learning English by myself! A year ago! I'm on the A1/A2 Level. Something I had known from B and C Level!
Thankyou 🙏 Chris for this video
Thank you for watching and please share with a friend
What a helpful video again 🤍
Thank you!
I never understand anything about English in my school because everything goes over my mind but chris teaches us basics of English sentences and now I'm able to speak English fluently Thanks buddy 😊
You are welcome
Thank you ❤
Thank's for keeping up me on level
I'm from Msia. Started my schooling at a Convent in 1970 in standard 1 when English was for the first time made to be no longer the medium of instruction at all levels primary, secondary and uni. I got 7/10, 8/10 and 7/10. ...didnt pause video. Thanks for the challenge.
Thanks Kasabian for saving me at the "thick as thieves" question. Music is a great teacher
I needed more time for intermediate questions..it was a good test for me....thank you.
It was not enough time for me too.
thanks so much
Useful test, even though I want to improve!
I got 30/30! Never used “as thick as thieves” though… I’m quite proud, because I refused to go to a grammar school. The Cambridge English tests are also interesting, this reminded me of them.
Thank you so much for the video, Chris! I got score of 23 (9 in Elementary, 10 in Intermediate and 4 in Advanced part). Recently I've started Upper-Intermediate book, so I guess I'm either B1 or B2 now!
Hey! Good for you! Why are you learning English?
@@InstantEnglishUK I wanna change my place of living, get a well-paid job and travel around the world more in the future. That's it!
28/30
probably you are not b1. somewhere in b2 - c1 because you fulled the intermediate one. i think its a prove that you have been more than a average intermediate person
@@dequre2492 Oh, it's nice to hear that from you, thank you for your praise:) There's no way for me to be at C1 right now, so I'm definitely lower right now. By the way, to complete the advanced part I just used my intuition and nothing else)) I haven't heard about those rules before, so that's the reason why I haven't reached advanced yet!
I have all the cuestions good!! I have the C2. Im so excited for that 🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳 thanks for the video!
My level is basic! but i already knew it. It was very useful for me. Thank you🔥
Don’t give up! You will improve
I got wrong the number 10 in the intermediate level and number 1 and 7 in the advanced level, and I'm honestly pretty satisfied with this results! Thank you for the video and have a good day!!
I did them all correctly except the first one in block 2. It was really interesting, thanks a lot!!!
As a non-native speaker,i'm proud with my results,i got 10/10 on A1-A2,10/10 on B1-B2 And 6/10 on C1-C2 I'm still trying to improve my english speaking.good luck everybody!
Same
Thanks for the test! I got 10/10 , 10/10, 7/10. I do enjoy the process of learning English. That's really great to see you are getting better, but at the same time you can always find out sth new and intresting, and it never gets boring. I thought that I'm somewhere between B2 and C1.
Great attitude!!!
Got them all correct except “Thick as thieves” I have never heard of this expression. The test is not really C1/C2 level I think. I did some other English quizzes, their C2 level questions were much harder than this.
I think C1/2 could be scored through listening and speaking...
As a Pakistani who is fluent in English, I got 27/30. This is a very good score. I liked the test. Even though I probably never heard of "thick as thieves", I still chose it, and I was correct. I didn't know that you could use "on foot" instead of "by foot" when someone is walking, and I already know that "by [TRANSPORT_NAME]" is used for other modes of transport.
It's very hard for me the advanced level but I keep practising , I'am very motivated
Hello, I got 10/10, 10/10, 6/10 I am glad to see my results, but I am still improving my English lever as better as possible. My main goal which I want to achieve this is having C2 English lever. I really hope that I will handle it in my nearest future. Thanks a lot for your video!
very good test 👍
You're combobulated. That's really fascinated me.😊
I made four mistake in the basic level. I made the next level and responsed questions correctly eight. I do the last ten questions and I get five correct answer. It was fun. 👏👏👏
Got nine correct in the last level...In India,we don't much use the idiom,' as thick as thieves'...Thank you...
Its very nice
29 correct answers. All but the “as thick as thieves” one. Never heard of this idiom before.
My English is purely self-taught out of didactic stimulus. I've been speaking the language for three years. I tested my vocabulary size and it was unanimously estimated to be 7900-9000. I can understand all the dialouges in any movie or cartoon without tumbling much, and my accent is almost as pedantic as of a native American speaker, I don't know a lot of phrasal verbs and only have covert for vocabulary accretion. And this is my result: A1/A2 -----> 9/10 (In March) B1/B2 ------> 9/10 (In the other day) C1/C2 -------> 9/10 (Thick as thieves) I'm Egyptian by the way. So, with all the aforementioned results, how close am I to fluency? And do you think I should take classes because I still keep ruminating about it in a labyrinthine. Also great video Mister.
9/10, 9/10, 8/10 🎉 as a non-native speaker I am quite proud, also I learn english since I was 6 but don’t use it so often 😊 Thanks for the video
I forgot much of English, but I learnt some more either. Haven't practiced for a spell
3:45: Not quite. It is “to enjoy sth.”, so we need an object that we can enjoy, and an object is a noun. This can be a proper noun or a nominalization, and the gerund is one kind of nominalized verb. So, you could also say: “They enjoyed their leisure time in the park.”
I got 9/10 on C1, C2 and 8/10 on B1, B2 and 7/10 on A1, A2, I'm not a native speaker, but I'm quite happy of my results
Samee dudee
Actually u wrote it opposite ccoz C1 C2 is advanced one
I have no clue on what is my level, but I almost answered all question right in C1/C2 and surprisingly I was very bad at level A1/A2... In my view you cannot pretend to reach a level with this kind of test. To me most important is to be able to speak, write and have good listening skills, errors are common and part of the English learning journey!
8/10, 9/10 and 7/10 (my total score was 24), but as someone who doesn't know many British expressions (I study more often the way Americans talk) I guess I was pretty well.🎉😊❤
Is British and American English different 💀☠️
This video has been utterly helpful, I got 28/30. Didn’t know what thick as thieves meant nor what Rightly so meant.
Well done you smashed it!!! Where are you from?
@@InstantEnglishUK I'm from Spain, and although it may seem surprising, my mother tongue is actually English.
30/30 I don't consider my level as advanced, but still found the test relatively easy.
Good for you!
It was helpful
I scored 10/10, 10/10, 9/10. The idiom in the 1st C1/C2 question was a tricky one, I've never heard it before. Nevertheless thanks, it was fun. Greetings from Ukraine!
That means I have to improve a lot at level B1 thanks for help us
you're welcome mate
I just checked this test out for fun as I'm a high school student and should put my English skills to some use. Suprisingly (not at all expected) I got a 30/30 score. No idea how that happened! I've studied in UAE for like 8 years of my life in a CBSE curriculum (Indian) school. I guess we give a huge importance to grammar in our studies...Anyways, proud of myself!
I am nearly B2😊🎉
Well done
Basic Level - 8/10 Intermediate Level - 8/10 Advanced Level - 8/10 I think a final result of 24/30 is not bad at all Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽 !
10/10, 10/10, and 8/10. I have never heard about wind-up, and conversely before. Otherwise this was an easy test for me, but a good one. It's nice to keep those little grey cells active and ticking. Cheers from Hungary!
They did you dirty on that "wind up" expression. It's only really used in the UK and even then it's seldom used. Never heard it used in American-English
Thanks a bunch, Chris! I always learn with your videos 'cause they're very helpfully. Cheers! Un abrazo desde Ecatepec, México. 🇲🇽❤️🇬🇧
Thank you as always mate!
@@InstantEnglishUK Glad to be your student and fan! ❤️🇲🇽🇬🇧
Well, it's all figured out! 👍 Merci.
Congratulations.
Ive never heard someone say "on foot" , ive been saying by foot my whole life😂 thank you for the info!❤
Quite an interesting result. I scored 7/10 on A1/A2, 8/10 on B1/B2 and 9/10 on C1/C2. I am not a native speaker, yet I regularly speak English with friends online. So I feel I speak relatively fluent most of the time. Have been thinking about taking English classes to improve my speaking. Though I am unsure on what level to take lessons. Fun video although it didn't really give me a answer to my question
Sounds like you have a very high level of English in terms of fluency, you just need to review some basic grammar points as you didn’t strengthen them when you first started. It’s actually a very common situation so don’t worry
@@InstantEnglishUK Good evening !. Beginner/ Elementary Level : 9 out of 10- Intermediate/Upper-Intermediate Level : 10 out of 10- Advanced Level : 6 out of 10.
My results were exactly the same as yours 😅
A-8 B-3 C-7
Please make more videos about grammar and IELTS exam parts.
I will do
9/10, 9/10, 8/10. Didn’t read two questions properly on the first two parts, but I’ve never heard “thick as thieves” or “wind up” before.
It’s so nice I’ve enjoyed it
Thank you!
Basic : 10/10 Intermediate : 9/10 Advanced : 9/10 Thanks
I got 30/30 correct 💯 . I've never expected that I will improve my English. Quickly
Where are you from?
I got 10/10 in A1 and 8/10 in both B and C levels. Could you please tell me where I stand? I also want to let you know that I really like your tips about how to improve speaking skills. I absolutely love your videos.

have you ever been an illusionist? Your eyes are mesmerizing. I'm sure you're tired of being told this... now the important thing: excellent video, as always.
Thank you very much
Got 9 in basic 10 in intermediate and 7 in advanced thanks for the test and learnt a lot from it
Yes, got a total of 29/30… never heard of thick as thieves before.

Basic : 2 wrongs, one because I was pressured for the time but I knew, one I got confused. Intermediate: 0 bad. Advanced: 4 bads, idioms that I didn't know and like 2 guessed. 24/30 I began to study English on November 18th, thanks to God and pacho8oa, on November 9th for the first time I went to an English institute which has 12 levels I took a level test and they translated me to level 8, and my real life teacher told me I could be in a higher level!.
Thick as thieves is new to me. One never stops learning.
I am not a native speaker but got 28 correct answers! One mistake i made because of my inattention in B1 section, and i also didn't know such an expression as Thick as thieve
Me: Game over...😵🤪... Saludos #Profe!
lost 2 points at the last 10 questions. But you know what, my English was tested as being unqualified to study as a PhD in China, while a lot people overseas asked me how come you get such a good English fluency without even being living in a English spoken country. Therefore, I got an acceptance to study abroad. How ironic it was/is. Sharing a bit more about my story: I was indeed a bad student in terms of taking exams, but that doesn't necessarily means I am a bad English speaker. In fact, I was so disgusted by the fact that, in china education system, they only want to educated students achieving pretty scores in exam and don't care about their practical level. Given the tests were so badly designed, I refused to follow the lessons taught in school and started to educated myself with my English. I am glad I made the wise choice, so I speak so good English even better than many who has study overseas for years. But I am still grateful to my English teachers at my early years.
I got everything right effortlessly but hadnt known i was meticulous to this point😂
Basic: 9/10 Intermediate: 9/10 Advanced: 10/10! I am Hungarian, 14 and already have my C1 english deegre, but i wanted to see if i was really worthy for it.
27/30.... After all English is my favourite subject.🥰
Basic: 10/10 Intermediate: 7/10 Advanced: 4/10 Total: 21/30

I got them all correct, though I only took courses at school back in the day. I'm in my fifties now and I'd consider myself quite fluent, this being the result of picking up from TV and other media.
Amazing! Good for you!
@@InstantEnglishUK Some time ago I took another, similar test. There was this one expression, like "that's what did him for" and the guy presenting that test said there must be be something wrong with the test, as he did not know that expression. According to the test, the meaning was "that was the final straw" or something along those lines. What are your thoughts?
8 for BASIC 8 for INTERMEDIATE and 4 for ADVANCED so 20/30, tysm for the test
