Sadly most of us brazillians cannot speak English fluently and those who can often feel shy to speak. Glad to see some of my fellows leaving shyness apart in this video! Cheers mate! Come back whenever you wish!
Thanks 🙏
Sadly most of english natives just speak english hahaha
I’m an English/ Portuguese teacher and it gets me sad that Brazilians aren’t motivated or even get the chance to learn English, but those people were really good. Thanks for this video and you’re always welcome in Brazil 🎉❤🇧🇷
Thank you!

Why Brazilian should speak English? Portuguese is beautiful language. And most native speakers of English are very laze to learn other language.
@@Prudic1 Because English is an international language and all countries should speak English, there’s no exception for anyone. All people should be bilinguals and unfortunately they don’t understand how important is English nowadays and besides, it’s the best language in the world and the most beautiful... Those who don’t like English are stupid and I hate those people. I am bilingual and English is also my language. I can’t and don’t want to think what my life would be like without English... It’s sad that English is not the second official language in all countries in this God damn world. I didn’t say that people should forget their first language. When I was out of my mind I was against my first language because I was angry that English wasn’t my first language and it was difficult to accept it. I was very upset with English and different things in my life. I once said when I’ll die, my last words will be in English. Everyone should speak their language and English.... People have to be born speaking two native languages. I am angry that no one spoke English with me when I was a kid and not everyone speaks English with me. Well, all right, this is not about the language. I don’t force anyone to speak only English with me. They can speak Russian if they feel comfortable,or other languages. I don’t want to be stubborn, incompetent or arrogant because I know that no one will do what I want and no one is gonna listen to me. Friendship doesn’t exist because we all different and we have our own point of view. How tired I am of everything that my life is not perfect now, but it’s just temporary and sooner or later things will get better. I want to be successful, earn a lot of money to be financially independent and afford anything I want in this life. Furthermore, I want to find a good girlfriend who will love me and support me cuz I’ll do the same. It’s simple: I respect people, they respect me. If you decided to play a dirty game with me and betray me like my friends did and if everyone will do that shit to me then well, they’ll see what happens when you become a psychopath because I don’t know what to do about my violent urges and I always wanted someone to listen to me and understand me, but no one cares. I never wanted to do anything bad in this life, but apparently this miserable life leaves you no choice. Sufferings will not last forever and it’s simple, you just die and then you are free from anything. I don’t care if I live or die. There’s no eternity and death is inevitable which makes me happy because life is so boring on this earth. I’ve been depressed so many times and I was desperate and nothing helped me to feel better, so I promised if this shit will not end, I’ll do something I’ve never done before... I was born in a wrong country and place and fuck everything, I don’t accept it. Sometimes I wonder, did a God put his hand to make that shit happen to me? Maybe it’s my mother? I always want to blame someone and even if I do, it won’t make me feel better. It’s just frustrating that I am in the hell and it feels like that it’s my soul, but I am dead a long time. I always wonder, was I a serial killer in my past life that I was born to suffer in this life? Sometimes I want to hate God or even my mother. I feel like I am slowly becoming a psychopath and I already have lack of empathy and I wouldn’t take responsibility for anything I’ll do. I am not afraid of consequences or anything.
I can't believe that I'm Brazilian and live so close to you. I live here in Durham and seeing you in the city where I was born and lived most of my life and where I'm going next month! I wanted to meet you so you could evaluate my English! I like the way you are, you're awesome

Thank you for your help!
Hey Chris, love your videos man! You gotta come to my hometown Brasilia (also known as capital of Brazil). It's so underrated in here. I've been waiting for a video of yours in Brazil ever since I started watching your videos. Cheers!

Im recording in RIO today, ipamena beach
I don't usually comment, but overall I believe that only about 3-5% of the population can speak English fluently (and often have lived abroad). There are Brazilians who learn English without leaving the country, but they are also a very small portion of the population. English, being a Germanic language for Portuguese, which is a Latin language, requires a lot of study and memorization, which can take from 2 years for disciplined learners to even longer for those who are not serious. Obviously, it is easier for those who do an exchange or immigrate abroad.
There are more German speakers in Brazil than English speakers
The number of German speakers in Brazil is more concentrated among descendants or people with some close German ancestry. The majority of these speakers are located in the southern region of the country. However, Brazilian Portuguese is the only official language spoken by 98% of the population. Only in isolated regions of the northern Amazon rainforest are native languages spoken. Interestingly, Portuguese speakers from Portugal often consider Brazilian Portuguese to be a dialect.
Yes, that is true, but I have a question, are you Brazilian because you have a lot of knowledge about the country 🤔
actually, more than 1/2 of Modern English vocabulary derives from Latin, and ModE also has significant grammatical divergences from Germanic languages. as a Brazilian myself, I found English to be naturally achievable due to the similarities between vocabulary, and a really decisive factor is how much exposed you are to the targeted language. when it comes to ModE, we are all exposed to it at some extent, and it might be through music, cinema, videos… so its classification as a Germanic language, doesn’t necessarily add up to the amount of work needed when learning it, coming from a Romance language background.
Seguindo para aprender o inglês,seus vídeos esta me ajudando muito, obrigado.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!
It was interesting to see how Brazilians speak English and it was impressive. If I were there I would answer anything. I have a very extensive vocabulary and I know 10 000 words, but sometimes there are some words I rarely use in my everyday life. Unfortunately I don’t have many people who can speak English with me and I am desperate cuz I want to make friends so they can speak only English with me. I don’t want everyone to speak my first language because it annoys me. My family always speaks Russian with me and no one speaks English with me. I don’t live in an English speaking country. I am bilingual and I speak two languages fluently. My studies were in English, but I only had online lectures cuz I was the only student from my faculty and others were Erasmus students from different countries, but I never met them cuz it all was online, so it was pretty boring. When I had French at my university, there was a girl from Italy, we communicated with each other and then she had to return to Italy at the end of her study semester in a foreign country. Anyway, it was great to meet someone. During online lectures I had to listen, but it also was good because it was a voluble info for me and I had good grades this year. I will defend my bachelor paper this summer, so and then afterwards I want to move to my homeland cuz I’ve been living in a foreign country for 22 years and life is bad now, but things will get better. I want to find a good job, earn a lot of money, find a good girlfriend and make reliable friends. Furthermore, I am interested in learning other languages and I know some basic Greek words and I have a conversational level in Spanish, but I want to improve my Spanish. I’ve been working as an English teacher since last year and I am happy to help someone with English. I have dreams and I’ll do anything to make my dreams come true.

Wow!! Are you in Brazil? I'm from Brazil, São Paulo. I'm beginner English student and I really like your videos
I was in Sao Paulo a few weeks ago and I am going to Rio soon for another video
I just loved it!!! Proud of my Brazilian fellas
I have another video coming from Rio soon!
All the guys in this video are cool!!❤
Very cool!!
I'm Brazilian and I can tell you that those people in your video are priviledged and considered exceptions for being able to understand and speak English pretty well, even making some mistakes sometimes. If you go to a less wealthy neighborhood or to the suburbs of São Paulo, I'm quite sure that almost no one will barely understand you.
I just went to random places not privileged areas
I used to live in this street, its called Maria Antonia. its in front of Mackenzie Univercity, a rich school with a lot of rich people 😂
@@InstantEnglishUK I see, I'm not criticizing you. But as other Brazilians have already commented, these are considered wealthy areas where people are expected to be priviledged and well educated. Brazil has a huge social and economical inequality, so people's educational background and even their appearance will vary a lot according to the region you are exploring. (for example, we couldn't see many black or mixed people in your video - they live mainly in the suburbs)
@@InstantEnglishUKNo no, sorry, but you didn't. All those places are priviledged (i live across the street from that university - only the rich ones hang out there). Social inequality here in Brazil is huge, man. That neighborhood is just for rich kid, unfortunately
@@ArthurBuscoExatamente! Hahahah se ele fosse em qualquer outro canto, provavelmente ele não ia conseguir fazer o vídeo

Very happy to hear that
How cool, I loved seeing Brazilians speaking English, I confess I was surprised, I thought no one would be able to speak it because it's a country where few people speak it.
This was many years ago when almost nobody could speak.. internet came out and changed everything!
They did great!
You tested their English by their vocabulary. Well done👏👏
Thank you! 😃
i enjoy this kind of videos and learn too, When a video from Guatemala? ;)
Hopefully this year!
The images were easy! For me, the Speaking section would be the hardest, since we hardly speak in english, that means we dont practice at all, so it gets a bit rusty.. Forming phrases while pronouncing them at the same time is hard on a brain that doesnt make it often. Also, you were on Mackenzie university, which has most of its people from a higher economic and social class, meaning they have a better english level than 90% of the brazilians Great Video!
Yeah I normally choose students because they are more willing to go on camera. Older people don’t want to be in the video unfortunately

So nice you came to Brazil, i work near Paulista Avenue. I hope you enjoyed it. I live in Santos, 60km of the capital São Paulo, the town and football team of Pelé and Neymar
Brilliant! What’s santos like?
@@InstantEnglishUKWell, it’s not so big and not so small. Population of almost 500,000 people. We have beach here and it’s hot most part of the year. More safe than the capital São Paulo. One of the bests cities to live in Brazil. 🇧🇷🤝🏼🏴
@@nicknightingale1776safer than the capital? Lol. What a liar 😂😂😂
@@Conservative007 obviously YES! São Paulo has the problems of a big city. Not only when we talk about the homicide rate (2.5 per 100 thousand in Santos x 5.3 in the capital), but also when we analyse the different species of crimes. I lived in São Paulo and nowadays i live in Santos, here we don’t have thieves breaking windows to steal cell phones, for example. Sure, we have crimes here, but the feeling of insecurity is different from the capital.
@@nicknightingale1776 obviously no. Who knows the mentioned areas are well aware that you said nonsense. Everyone knows that Santos is much more dangerous and violent than São Paulo.

"Cool, positive and helpful. I'll become subscribed". Or something like that 😅
This is Russian or some Slavic language, (maybe Ukrainian) not sure.
I'm happy I got all the vocabulary test correct ✅ I learned english by accident when I was a kid, not really studied it just was curious about the words. One day I just noticed I could read a entire book in english and was like "okay, fine then" 😅 I think the reason to most brazilians don't know english is because we don't use nor need it so much, everything we consume is in portuguese. People learn another language because of their job or master's degree. And young people learn more because they have a lot of contact with the language on the internet and consume a lot of foreign content.
That's fair enough, in general, i found my experience quite easy just using English. However, i did try and learn some Portuguese of course!
I learn to much with your videos.
Excellent! What was your favourite part?

As far as I know use "notebook" or "laptop" for portable computer is correct. 🤔 Besides there are differences between them. Notebook ≠ Laptop. You can see brands like HP and Lenovo using "notebook" in their US websites.
It's a name of a specific laptop that they are trying to sell, therefore, if you use notebook with any native person, 99% of the time they will assume you are talking about notebook that you write in. Unless perhaps you are in an electronic shop and are looking at different types of laptops :)
