The Israel-Palestine conflict: a brief, simple history
The conflict is really only 100 years old.

One of the biggest myths about the Israel-Palestine conflict is that it's been going on for centuries, that this is all about ancient religious hatreds.
In fact, while religion is involved, the conflict is mostly about two groups of people who claim the same land. And it really only goes back about a century, to the early 1900s. At its heart, it is a conflict between two self-determination movements - the Jewish Zionist project and the Palestinian nationalist project - that lay claim to the same territory.

Thank you for this video. It really cleared things up because I was misinformed by one of my acquaintances regarding the history of Palestine-Israel. I'd like to be educated more about this conflict.
The video starts in the middle of the story and makes numerous lies of omission. You should do more research. Important details is that the Jewish people are from the land of Israel, and they returned because they were facing global genocide, predominantly in Europe and the Arab countries. Vitally important is the fact that the Jewish people adhered to all international rules and standards for their return and the re-establishment of the state of Israel. They didn't steal land, and they didn't start the military conflicts between the Arabs and themselves. Every military confrontation between the Arabs and Israel was started by Arabs attacking Israeli civilians, and the attacks never stopped from the founding of Israel to today. That's why the situation there is what it is. People who accuse Israel of wrongdoing have to ignore the context of their actions to make that claim, and misrepresent what Israel is actually doing. There's no apartheid, and the Arab terrorists are the only ones attempting to commit genocide upon their enemies. Israel only attacks military targets. Hamas and the other Arab terrorist organizations use their own civilians as human shields (which is a war crime in and of itself), resulting in civilian casualties.

Oh but i need to apologize to blacks because of what my grand grand grand father did, right.
That's not remotely the situation. The Jews are the only people to have ever had a country within that land in all of human history. The Arabs never had a country within what is now the modern state of Israel. No state of "Palestine" ever existed. And the Jews have had a presence in the land continually for over 3,000 years. The Arabs living in the land are descended from colonizers, mostly Egyptian and Jordanian, who colonized the land within a century of the establishment of the modern state of Israel. But when the Jews returned from exile to their ancestral homeland after WW2, they did so by legally buying land from the previous landowners, and it's on that land they legally purchased that they established the modern state of Israel on. Their history is their reason for wanting the land, not the basis for their legal claim to it. Every single military confrontation between Israel and the Arabs was instigated by the Arabs. Every single expansion of Israel was in a defensive war, pushing back the Arab aggressors to establish defensible borders, which under the international laws of war is a legal acquisition of land.

Every single military conflict between the "Palestinians" and Israel was started by the "Palestinians". If they wanted peace and safety, all they would have to do would be prevent their own people from launching terrorist attacks against Israel, instigating war. It's that simple. I put "Palestinian" in quotation marks because they don't have the deep connection to the land they claim. They're ethnically Arab Jordanians and Egyptians mostly descended from colonizers who colonized the land in the century preceding the return of the Jews. In contrast, the Jews have had a continual presence in the land for over 3,000 years, and are the only people to have ever had a sovereign state in the land in the whole of recorded history, making them objectively the land's indigenous population, even as many of them returned from an exceedingly long exile in other parts of the world after WW2.

In 1878 the Jewish population of Palestine was a minuscule 0.2% . It was only just prior to the creation of Israel that the UN in an unprecedented resolution created Israel. The UN gave 55% of Palestine to the 30% new immigrants. But that wasn’t enough. Jewish professor Ilan pappe Phd researched and proved that no Palestinian leaders asked their people to leave willingly, they were violently forced to leave.
This is the official Ottoman census of 1878 indicated the following demographics for the Jerusalem, Nablus, and acre districts: Muslim. 403,795. 85.5% Christian. 43,659. 9.2% Jewish. 15,001. 3.2% (3% are Palestinian jews) Jewish (Foreign-born). Est. 10,000. 2.1% Total: 472,455

Lets start with - What is "Palestine" you guys talking about? Does anyone ever heard about "Palestine as a nation" before 1948 or 1967?? By the way... "Palestine" its not even arabian name, its a Romans name since they occipite the middle east. More then that, before 1948 the British ruled the place before the Ottoman and before that the Greeks and before that the Romans and before that was the kingdom of Judah (it is also written in the Qur'an) So where or when exactly was a Palestinian state? And this means that the Arabs lived there illegally. the fact is "Palestinian nation" never existed. its abiggest lie of the modern history. period. Only ignorant can deny
@@uribarel Oh yes an you know what else is written in the Quran? The Jews are banished from having any land because of the amount of times they disrespected/disobeyed God. Yes it was promised to them at first and when Moses saved them from the Pharaoh and took them to the land of Palestine they said to Moses "You and your God can go fight for the land" and they chickened out so God got angry with them and banished them to the desert for 40 years
@@uribarel The Arabs didn't live there illegally what are you talking about? You wanna know what's illegal? Israel. Israel illegally occupied Palestine in the first place with the help of the British colonisers

Wouldn’t it mean that mongolia should own the majority of the world? (Do you understand how this isn’t a valid argument?)
“Whatever comes next will be much worse” 2024 here and 33’000 killed Palestinians in Gaza.
That's a nonsense number. Hamas pathologically lies, and don't differentiate between combatant and non-combatant deaths, nor between which side caused the deaths, and they've been caught on multiple occasions grossly exaggerating how many people died in specific attacks. Israel only deliberately targets militant assets, not civilians. And when the proportion of known terrorists they've killed to civilians killed as collateral damage are roughly even, which is a significantly smaller proportion of civilian casualties than any other country can claim in similar urban warfare. Also, there never was a state of "Palestine", the Arabs living in the land are descended from mostly Egyptians and Jordanians who colonized the land within the last couple-hundred years.
The Crusaders coming from Europe occupied our land in Palestine for 300 years - in the Middle - and they fought Eastern Christianity and accused them of being heretics and committed brutal killing against them and Muslims, and despite the long period of occupations, the insistence of our ancestors on regaining their land remained... and this is what is happening now - Palestine. For its people and it will only be for its people, and whoever wants to live with us in peace, we have no problem provided that he abandons his colonial ideas....

You’re absolutely right. They used Jews and Palestinians for their one personal interests, playing into antisemitism when that was acceptable, then leaning into Zionism after the holocaust. Just shuffled Jews around and annihilated Palestine, creating the colonial state and conflict and leaving when it was no longer beneficial for them
Same thing happened with what the Belgians did with the Hutus and Tutsis leading to the Rwanda Genocide. In the end, it's always bad government. Man has dominated Man, and Man is suffering for it.
Yes! Colonial states have been let off the hook for creating so many of our modern day issues (e.g continuing inequality between races, sexes, religions, class, + CLIMATE CHANGE + CRIME + mental health issues! ect.) - BUT! the project of decolonisation is helping to reveal the ways that colonisers subjugated minorities to get on top and have stayed there since. they promised the people they were colonising that they would be equal - but this has never happened. time to hold colonial states to account! everyone should be equal and tangibly equal - not just on paper in your constitution or bill of rights.
