Family of 7 Outgrew Their Bus so They Built a Tiny House on Top

Jeff, Anna, and their 5 children live in a DIY Double Decker Skoolie and I've never seen anything like it. Their 40 foot school bus was just not big enough for this family of 7 and so they cut the roof off and framed up a Tiny House loft extension to add two more bedrooms to their home AND a bunch more utility. And he doesn’t look broke or rich but definitely not broke . The kids love it kids love being outside !!!!!!!!!!! . I mean once they get 12 -13 I’m sure they’re smart enough parents to know when to buy a home. This guy can sell his energy from his solar panels. He’s living an amazing life fuck the haters

But I absolutely loved traveling to different places and making new friends all the time. Maybe I just wasn’t very attached to people, places, and things as a kid- and I don’t think there is anything wrong with it. Normalcy is subjective.

And maybe moving around didn’t bother you, but you were not every kid. Your parent(s) didn’t really have a choice in moving around constantly, but these ones do. At this age it’s pretty much what the parents say goes so the kids have no other options.

My parents did have a choice, because they knew the outcome of my dad being in the military and living on base, and still chose to do so; there really is no difference, you just see their way of living as abnormal compared to that of a military family. And Like I said, every kid is different. I’m not arguing that at all, I was just giving my insight as a kid who enjoyed it. The only thing I could have wished for was to spend more time with both of my parents at once, and these kids get to do just that. Lastly, like I said, I spent most of my time outside. I went in my house to sleep and eat dinner, and that was about it. I did my homework outside, played outside, ate all meals outside, and If I could have had it my way I would have ate dinner outside.

    • Learning in a classroom provides certain life lessons as well, such as meeting lots of kids your own age, acquiring social skills not found in isolation with a small group of siblings, competing against other kids and learning to win and to lose, and to accept both and move on. However, there are also valuable lessons learned every day when traveling to new, different places. Both types of environments offer a variety of unique experiences and neither can replace the other. These kids will have adventures on their journeys which will never be forgotten and they will be exposed to new ways of seeing their world. Later on they may choose to go to traditional schools, but right now, this wonderful opportunity has presented itself and should be taken while it is possible. When I was a kid, my parents took us out of school briefly and we traveled by car to historic locations in the U.S. I loved every minute and will always remember how special it felt to be altogether as a family, learning about our country’s history while standing on the very spot where it was made, even standing in the House of Representatives while congressmen and women argued a bill. It really brought my world alive and I’ll always love them for that gift.

  • Wow, AMAZING what you've built!!! As a school bus driver with the same type of bus that I've driven and seeing what you did to the door area, emergency exit, windows, luggage area underneath absolutely amazing!! What a great idea for your family, and the kids will learn so much more bravo 👏 🙌 👍

  • Love the part where he was asking the little girl about what she would say if she brought her friend up to her bedroom and she literally just went “uhm”, yeah that’s cus she doesn’t have any friends because she has online school and lives in a BUS with no privacy or room that also doubles as a constantly moving vehicle, oh how resourceful!!!

    • You people with no experience living in a bus. Complaining about all this shit blows my mind. I can guarantee you all of those kids have friends that also live in buses… with all the other buses around them here. They’re at a nomad met up. With other families that also live in buses… relax they still have a childhood
