Loving watching you in the greenhouse Tara - my happy place planting seeds. Hint for tomatoes. Take a paper towel & squish any ripe tomato onto it, spread out the mush. Leave it in the sun to dry. Then put away for next year's planting. All you have to do is bury the paper towel flat under a bit of soil - loads of little plants will sprout up within days!

I agree! The issues he has with his neck and shoulder is always going to be a problem for him, u have some of the same issues, but John is a master builder and craftsman, I don't think this nasty neck issue will ever stop him!

So envious of you planting seeds already… we’re being warned of possible snow across the UK this week!!! I’m hoping that this means my onions and garlic will do well, as apparently they need a hard cold spell to thrive… oh to be planting my cherry tomatoes 🍅 now! Exciting seeing the changes happening at the house… that sketch really did help me envisage your plans! ❤
We have -16° outside this morning here in southern Finland, so I have to enjoy Tara your greenhouse view untill I can do so. But it gives me joy to know that after a while I can put my marigolds and violas growing and 🌶️ and tomatoes under greenlamp. But not yet... growing season is too far away here. But it will come eventually and then I will be as happy as you Tara. ❤

This is getting so exciting just love the way John's plans evolve as he goes! You are so very fortunate to have Mario and Joelle as neighbours always on hand to help. Crusoe and Sawyer great little characters and Tara is always having to come up with innovative ideas to keep the toddlers at bay. I love the remodel plan . I like that you are fixing the drop off first . I hope you really do it up as it is your forever home so you can really enjoy having the room for some time . All the construction you are going to need that and your office space as an oasis. Toddler proofing the Greenhouse is a great idea. Those two little loves are adorable but the toddler days really stretch your sanity at times . I love seeing Sawyers personality emerging . He is gonna give you a good run ❤. He really takes things in but he is every bit as adventurous as Carusoe. It’s a joy to share with you. Soon we are about to have our own adventure!

I love being able to see the farm from above, it helps make sense of how everything fits together. And the transformation of having two bedrooms soon-ish! I've pictured Tara especially sneaking off to take a nap in the tiny house in order to get enough sleep, how you and John have managed with sharing a bed with toddlers is quite amazing! I really like the front door plan and steps John. I think the brick wall at the bottom should be pushed back a bit so you fully see the two granite sones completely. What do you think? Tara, you have the patience of a saint in the greenhouse 🥰🤣. The colour coral looks lovely on you too. I’m itching to start seed sowing but it’s too cold here. All systems go in March yay !

I absolutely love everything you do. The children are growing so very fast. Love how you involve them in what you do. As a gardener, starting most of my vegetable in the greenhouse house I would recommend you power wash the glass, clean and wash the floor as well as all surfaces every year before starting planting. By the way, love your chicken coop. Here is a suggestion. I got my dog from a farm that bred dogs and they had a pen outside with peacocks and another with dogs and they had a wired mesh all around like you do and a wired mesh on top with the mesh much smaller. This was to stop the birds of prey from swooping down and picking up birds and even small dogs. Just thought you might like to know about this.
I didn't know boys could be planted under potting benches, lol! So cute! Glad John explained about why he was starting where he was, cause I had been thinking, why? Loved the drawing John, you have such a good eye for how things should look, and it will look beautiful! Loved the "short" video! 😉

Hello and Good Evening Newby Family Wow its Wednesday (here in the cold freezing UK) evening the reason i know is because ITS THE NEWBYS TIME yayyyyyyy 😊😊❤❤ Another fantastic episode. The boys wow double the fun, double cuteness overload and maybe double the trouble mum?? 😮 Especially in the greenhouse lol. Who knew that Tara was/is able possibly to grow produce in her hair???? 😂😂😂😂 I am glad to see that you were alone moving those massive blocks John, thank you Joel for helping John out, your not forgotten by us viewers by the way, i am sure i have heard both John and Tara say many times that your a great help to them as well as i know they also reguard you as a friend....... You know John no matter what project/projects (we all know that you never just have one project on the go) you take on if can't see your vision at the time, we are always kept in the loop step by step, episode by episode we witness your visions unfold and NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER (i haven't anyway) been left disappointed, speachless perphaps by what you have created from your thoughts!! I bet i am not alone either by saying that. The extension is going to be not only beautiful but also practical, outstanding piece of art, will have more than one use, mind blowing fantastic. My one son and daughter-in-law are having a hard time not playing switching beds every night lol. Before you all know it it will be a thing of the past and they’ll be leaving home. Tara what a great idea hanging a basket to keep little fingers out of certain things in the greenhouse. I can’t believe how fast Sawyer is growing he’s starting to communicate like a little guy and not as a baby so cute. Crusoe is always adorable. Take care.

Olá Bom Dia and good day to all ! Great video guys. I noticed you like flowers. Plant a few red "cravos" in your garden - Dianthus Caryophyllus, commonly known as carnations . They are very typical here in Portugal and they look and smell wonderful. Ask Portuguese friends what the symbol for "25 de Abril" is, and they will say Red Carnations. It is the Portuguese Revolution day, also called "The Revolution of the Carnations" (Revolução dos Cravos).
Another question for you guys... I love watching your content and really appreciated you introducing your followers to the Scotters who are a delight to watch! Gradually over time I have found a few other channels that I enjoy, some with small followings and some with large but all doing amazing renovation projects in Europe. I am sure your followers have some other gems. I therefore wondered if at some point you could ask your followers to share in the comments who their favourite channels are so that we can see who else is creating beautiful content?
I think the porch stones would become much more of a nice feature if you move the lower blocks just slightly to the right rather than butting up to the front, but I’m sure it will look great however you end up doing it 👍
Your sweet peas can start in the greenhouse but then just move them outside. I’m envious as I’m in Canada and cannot start my indoor seeds until early April and then the seedlings late May into the garden. I’m going to say John should be careful he doesn’t hurt his shoulder again.

I'm in Canada too and I have seedlings growing inside under grow lights. There are lots of things like snap dragons and sweet peas or peppers that need a bit longer growing time that you can start now!
Just a thought - if you wanted to save all the labor of putting in the blocks, which may be later removed after your son is bigger in just a couple years. Would be to put up a temporary fence line around us stairway in the top ! Inexpensive and could be completed within few hours .
the plan suggests that the block wall will be rendered and permanent though? Probably an important safety feature for anyone living there, especially in the dark! Will look amazing with holes for flowers and herbs to grow in.

I think John should stack the bricks for the wall on the steps before sloping. End with the slope after the wall is complete, that way it is a little bit more stable

Hello Newby Family 😊. This episode helped me so much!! I live in Michigan and at this time our weather is very cold yet. It's not as cold as it usually gets here in Michigan but too cold to start my seeds. I long for spring time in my state🤗 I think we Michiganders are definitely spoiled with the mild winter we have been having. But due to the huge lake surrounding us, weather can change in a instant. So Tara, thank you for planting seeds today. It felt as if I was right there with you.. I will start seeding the end of February in my house under heat lamps. I have a little Amazon greenhouse but not dueable in this weather just yet. excited to see your garden in the near future.. Your boys are getting so big and so so smart ❤
