Engineered, developed and tested to specific requirements of our OEM clients. These pads utilize the best foams from around the world and the latest of testing and research and development including Chemical Guys own Self Centered backing system!
The Hexagon is not new to science, it's just new to detailing. Rather then try to reinvent some catchy gimmick, Chemical Guys invests in technology that through the years has simply been unbeatable and improves on it. Hex-Logic pads are designed to hold product and distribute it evenly over the surface of the pad, delivering a superior even finish that is hard to achieve with any other pad.
Nature selected the Hexagon for storage and designed it to be one of the most efficient holding cells. For example a mass of hexagonal wax cells built by honey bees in their nests to store honey and pollen. The bees build the comb with 6 sides for even distribution of product fast and effectively.

what about yellow. WHAT ABOUT YELOOWWWWW!?
@@lumpyrex007 yellow is the heaviest cutting pad like if your paint has scratches that are deep and you cant get them out with the orange
If polishing is used to bring out shine and remove scratches, and there are harder pads that u can use, why do u use “compound”? Also... is green and orange pads for compounding and the ones on the bottom for polishing?
Great vid. Thanks for the explanation. It's nice to see the breakdown on all the pads. Thanks again!
Than You. Enjoyed this because I learned something important about the quality, selection to use the right pads for the right resulting in an excellent car polish job. Using the right pad is important as you do not want the incorrectly use a pad not suitable for a particular and demanding job and ruin a car's paint worth several thousands of dollars. Its illuminating and enjoyed it very much.

I want it to look good, I dont think I want to go through cuting, polishing and then wax. Can i go straight to polish and wax or would that be a waste of time?

I was wondering if I was using my microfiber correctly. Glad I'm using for final polish. I thought it was maybe cutting like wool. Turns out I need wool for an agro cutting pad. My pads are cheaper and different via Amazon, but this was helpful. I definitely see the value in chem guys pads also, which might make me purchase in future once I learn basics with my vehicles
great explanation, thanks a lot, I just bought a new car and it does not have many swirls, still I want to correct the most as possible before coating, sadly in my garage I can't use my polish machine, but since it does not have many deep swirls I will do it by hand. which pad would you recommend me to do this job? thanks in advance.
Every Paintwork is Unique. Even in a specific manufacturer, the paint can differ from model to model. Every paintwork requires a "Test Spot" to ensure you have a proper combination. I would recommend to start with V36 and an orange pad as a baseline then adjust the pad or polish accordingly to achieve the desired results. -Greg@CG
Great vid I wish I can see the vid for each one of them

What if I use the black pad for a finishing polish like Menzerna SF4500? It would still have the amount of cut the polish offers right? And if I jump up to a white pad with the same polish, this just offers more cut?

Been waiting for this video!
How about Scholl S20 ? I have managed to remove pretty heavy swirl marks from careless washings in 3 passes. Used wool pad but with wool been as human straight thin hairs. Pad went dry in seconds. Every half of the pass had to reapply S20 and moisture pad with spray water. Loved the results but process and amount of product made me cry. Tried medium firm thick none flexi pad but for noob me it was jumping in my hands and i could not get to hard to reach , places and bends .... Could you please recommend some flexi pad for Scholl S20 1 step compound. I need flexy so can press on the edge and get it flexing over bends. Please Kind Sir
what kind of pad should i use ? i have tried the orange pad and just want to remove some swirls and minor scratches, but the orange pad just creates far more swirls and clear scratches.. 2003 audi a4
so would an orange pad be bad for a benz c300 black? green only? with cutting compound?

What would you recommend for a BMW with mild to medium scratches? Green?
Very cool information! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your awesome feedback and thanks for watching. Happy detailing!
If time is not a problem and I have all the products, should I do a 2-3 step polish and finish with V38? I am asking because sometimes I see that you stop at V36 and was wondering if you stop there because the V38 would be overkill? Also I have a white 2013 volkswagen jetta and was wondering if that paint is considered ''hard'' or ''soft''? I tried V36 with an orange hex pad and it removed about 20% of the swirls. Should I try V34 or even V32 with an orange pad? I am affraid to go to aggresive. I have the torq 10FX and use it on speed 5
try sticking with the V36/VSS but switch over to the mircofiber pad. If that doesnt work u can switch over to a 34 with a yellow pad, and if that doesnt work then switch back over to a microfiber pad again and so forth. Just work your way down from least aggressive in pads and compounds. You'll see that there are many different combinations that could get the job done! hope this helps.
hello guys when i polish i used yelow or orange, white, black, red pads. Please tell me on wich speed must i polish with DA polish maschine .
Do you have to dry the car after your wash the Mr Pink foam off with water?
Great video! Question- I tried to repair some scratches on my bumper by wet sanding then using a spray can with factory matched paint, but the paint-can sprayed unevenly and looks "bumpy"? Will using a buffing machine, with a cutting pad, and a cutting compound smooth out the paint? What pad would you recommend to use with my variable speed buffer?
Hey Buddy, thanks for watching. Start light, you don't need a compound for this job, a light polish like V36 will probably get the job done. If V36 doesn't do the job, then you move onto something like V34. If V36 works, finish off with V38 to refine the paint, I would use a white pad with that. Start with an orange pad with V36, then finish with V38 and a white pad. C.G. Alex -
Can you recommend specific pads/products? The pad colors are a little confusing, and there are lots of products out there...

Hey guys, Love the videos! I just got myself a Porter Cable DA, and I'm excited to get started detailing! I'm currently working on a 2001 Subaru, and the Orange, Green then White is working really well! But I'm moving onto a 2013 Hyundai Veloster, and its simply just swirls and mildew. I don't know which cutting pad to select, as this paint is thinner than the subie and from my knowledge a soft paint and I don't want to cut too much out/cut down to paint. Have any tips or recommendations?
Did you figure it out?
So green pad is designed for Mercedes Benz since paint/clear coat is hard and then its good for Suburu since they have soft paint/clear?
Are the pad color coding universal? Or is it simply for your company? As in red lads are the softest, yellow the heavy cutting pads, white are polishing pads for all pads...so on and so forth
My order of blacklight car wash and glaze arrived yesterday. I'm going to get the harbor freight polisher today. I plan on washing the truck claying it putting the blacklight glaze on then using the wet butter wax. Can I use just the orange white and black pads for that whole process? Or would it be better for me to purchase the blue pad for the glaze? I'm new to this so any information will help.
Hey Jason, sounds like you have a great plan of action! Yes, you can use the orange and white pads for the polishing process, then use the black pad for the glaze and wax. Check out the link below for more information and tips to use while polishing! Thanks for watching Jason and happy detailing! www.chemicalguys.com/How_To_Choose_The_Right_Compound_Or_Polish_For_Your_Car_s/644.htm www.chemicalguys.com/v/vspfiles/assets/images/HexLogicPolishingPadChart.jpg
I have a Milwaukee 5540 rotary and was wondering if anyone here has used the hex-logic pads for cutting/polishing with this unit. I need to find the proper backing plate as well so the hex-logic pads will work. Or... should I just break down and buy a new dual-action unit.
what would be good for lens restore?
I'm in the process of polishing a 1946 Teardrop trailer that's made out of aircraft aluminum that has oxidized, and I've done one side of the trailer by using Blue Magic metal cleaner which came out okay but was a lot of work I'm not going to try with pads on side but was wondering which pad I should use to apply the Blue Magic metal cleaner with? The wool pad or one of the foam pads? Thanks for any help you can give .
Hi there! Using a microfiber pad will easily cut through oxidation and stains using metal polish.
Hey buddy. What colour pad cutting compounds do you recommend for plastic headlights restoration. I already got the jet seal sealant thanks
You can chose between the Hex-Logic Orange Pad or White both will work great and for finishing and getting the best level of clarity you can finish with a black pad! Hope it works great.
Chemical Guys thanks buddy
I'm glad you guys started using a separate mic to pick up your voice, I can actually hear what's being said now. Great videos, I plan on buying a bunch of stuff once spring rolls around
How often do you need to compound?
What do you use to buff out a car with decals and pinstripes
Excellent video. How about which pads for epoxy resin?
Hey! Use a Yellow or Orange Hex-Logic Pad for cutting then refine with a White Hex-Logic Pad.
