A lot of drivers don't realise there's an easy way to tell if the water is too deep - check for somebody filming a video of you driving in.
Seriously! 🤣
Or the sign showing the depth of the water is 1m!

I cant believe how an adult with a driving licence would fly into a big puddle !! How thick do you need to be
Hit a few hidden one yesterday delivering in Wales, none this deep but still scary
So thick that they make planks jealous.
Well considering over 17.4 million were lead to believe their biggest enemy was their closest neighbours and largest trading partners it’s easy to understand the level of thick in England 🤡😂😂😂
Yes very true, but we must remember they are English. So they do think they know it all. It's only the rest of the world that knows the truth about them.
Some people are just born stupid.
Those who failed probably still believe they just weren't driving fast enough... 🙈🌊😀
So many think that you have to step on the gas, smh.
Push a small bow wave to stop engine water ingestion. But you do so much more damage gear box diff starter alternator. I love looking at people making fools of themselves.
Applying the weight of the vehicle in the contact area of the wheels. There must be a speed at which the water is unable to move away. Just like aquaplaning but Jesus Christ level. While we search for it, thanks to everyone who participates in the experiment.
the slower ones are the ones that make it past most to
@@clemens6807don't forget though the vehicles in the video you shared have very wide tires and a insane power to weight ratio and even then some of them have a hard time keeping up their speed and staying on top of the water. Cool stuff though
Impressive towing capability from the Land Rover!
Hell yeah, I was shocked. That bin lorry must be what? 20 odd ton?
Low range gearbox
She was 25 ton. I was more worried about the strap putting my rear window through as that was only a 15 ton😅 just low range and pulled away in second here

I agree it's 100% about the bow wave.
The fact this footage exists, is proof of how far we have come as humans. Sadly for many this move was in the opposing direction
Thanks Ben, for proving that stupidity will never die out.
you took the words right out of my mouth!
Same what i thougt when i see this.
Water and the Great Internal Combustion engine will never mix well ever!!
Why does stupidity appear to go hand in hand with the more affluent in society? I drive a shit-box and wouldn't risk it. Is that the difference, they got the money to go, meh whatever. I do hope their insurance refuses to pay out.
@@eyesodd Even a dustcart driver, and a bus driver went through it and failed to reach the other side...hardly anything to do with having money or driving a shitbox....having less money doesn't make you intelligent now does it???

Love the Viano bloke on the phone telling someone "i just just drove through a big puddle" 🤦🏿♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣
“I’ve just driven through a big puddle mate - the engine’s f**ked”! 😆😆🤦♂️
That driver is as thick as mince...should be fired for that reckless attempt
I was there mate. Just before this a white van went through. Merc guy just followed on. He was to busy on his phone didn't even look or check. As fast as u see him drive through is as fast as he approached down the whole road. (I was the disco 3 pulling the 25ton bin lorry out)

@@MrGreatplum it tackled it really well. I'll be honest I've pulled out stuck q7 new shape and it was way harder then the lorry. The driver was a good sport tho. Agency driver so hopefully the gave him more work
@@Discoveryjamieyour discovery coped well with that
It's pretty straightforward...most of them go barrelling in way too fast, creating splashback that gets into their air intake. The refuse lorry is a really good example! If more did it like that white pick up near the end they'd get through. A lot of people are ignorant and a tad thick!!
Yes you can’t buy common sense 😂
Scanias are the worst truck for it, the air intake box is behind the bumper, it's always been in a stupid position considering every other manufacturer puts it up behind the cab 7ft+ high.
@@nothingsurprisesmeanymoreProbably chasing improved economy figures.
Totally agree. A new scania engine with fitting will be in the region of £30,000. The driver won't care less. The driver of the old Mitsubishi at the end cares more about his vehicle.
@@nothingsurprisesmeanymore That particular Scania refuse truck has the L cab. This has an extremely low entry at the door and very good walk through across the cab. That does come at some cost when re-packaging engine components below. Even with the low air filter on other cab types you have have a high air intake, if you expect you may need to go through floods. Driving at speed like this refuse truck did would easily flood most front air intakes. One should drive in to make a wave, then ease back and drive in the trough behind the wave.
That Land Rover is a beast
Yes mate, open the door. Best episode. Ever.
Painful to think these people are allowed to vote.
And allowed to drive, which on a daily basis is much more worrying.

Thanks Bengregers, amazing to see people think you can drive fast into flood waters. Needless expensive bills.
Any insurance claims for repairs would be invalid due to the negligence of the driver.

Never ceases to amaze me how many people are still driving in the high water
So nice to see the wash on the back road from Buttsbury to Ingatestone…….I particularly enjoyed the dust cart 🤣
I’m continuously amazed that people just dive right in, without hesitation. I love the final shot of the tow guy giving a example of how easily this creek is crossed with a bit of patience.
There's even a depth marker there, more than 500mm deep or more at times. Stupid people.

I would imagine every so called "driver" that ploughs into a ford flat-out hasn't got a clue what a towing eye is.
2:20. Brings a whole new meaning to drifting.
A heavy electric car !
And the rwd version. Just wait until the wheels get some grip.
@@Sim_V Yeah, 1,800 kg. I'm a bit surprised it was the one that seemed to float, as most of the ones that drowned would be lighter than that. Maybe because it was so well sealed it was floating off like a boat, while the ICE cars were just filling up and driving along the bottom?
I bet it’s due to the bottom being flat on most EV’s. The bottoms of an EV is shaped like a flat bottom boat.
@@foellerd Yeah, someone on the MG4 forum said "our cars are basically rafts." If the water isn't getting in (easily) from underneath, air will stay in the cabin and the car will be buoyant (at least for a bit). No rudder, unfortunately! Someone asked MG about wading depth and they said they hadn't really looked into it, better not take it above the door sills. So I'd be interested to know if that car suffered any damage as a result of that. Water in the reduction gearbox? Damage to undertray? Nissan Leafs are rated for 700 mm, which is 2 ft 4 in, nearly as deep as that bloody ford! Even so, don't dive in at the speed the MG4 did.
Susan doing a save in the Jimny. Top man 👌🏼

This put a smile on my face! So many drivers just don't have a clue when it comes to driving through a flood. The same people end up in a ditch when the roads are icy. Rubbish lorry and rubbish driver, a matched pair.
As an American my biggest takeaway is how calm and polite these drivers are. Seems most of my fellow Americans would be going berserk, even on the one doing the towing!
They think their vehicle will start as soon as it's pulled out of the water, the calmness will soon disappear when they get the bill for an engine rebuild lol.
@@LiamBranchIt's very likely that the engine needs to be replaced. We call this "water hammer". this breaks piston rings, connecting rods, and often pierces the cylinder liner and engine block with the connecting rod - there is no alternative replacement. I'm lucky, it's never happened to me.

I've watched so many videos and the amount of Audi, BMW and other luxury car brands I've seen not make it through is comical, as always. Just going through it like water wouldn't overwhelm their engines and hoping to make it to the other side. I love to see the other drivers who know what they're doing go in and make it to the otherside.
I was thinking the same. Most of the German cars seem to disintegrate at the mere sight of water. To be fair it is probably because Germany still has a car industry.
It’s because Germans know how to drive, that’s why.

@@dk1ey779undercarriage? What were they flying in?
@@DG-EditsMediaEtc Undercarriage works and is applicable to vehicles aswell.
The worst part is this looks like a regular flooding spot. There’s a depth gauge sign indicating how deep it is. Of course barrelling through at speed is more likely to swamp the engine anyway even if the vehicle could have passed.
Part one of the issue is the the height of the intake like you say, but even then all these clowns who go powering in, filling the engine bay with water and ramming it up the intake. It’s like these people heard “push a bow wave” and didn’t bother to listen to how to do it.
Yes some of the drivers that eased in and avoid a big splash into the engine compartment did ok. The water in some shots wasn't deep enough to hit the intake, unless the driver hit with a big splash. Maybe drivers are afraid if they go slower, they will get stuck, hence the mistake of powering in.
Had this kind of thing today when driving, I turned around and found a different route. Unbelievably there was always an idiot tailgating me and beeping their horn before plowing through it!

Back in the 1980s I used to drive Leyland Leopard coaches and Atlantean double-deckers through floods like this - it was so much fun 🙂 With the deckers water shot up through the pedals and wet your feet and the doors were forced open by the water pressure sending it rushing down the aisle. Nobody ever complained and thought it was a bloody good laugh.
The Leyland leopards with underslung horizontal engines were terrible in floods. you had more chance in a corsa of making the other side.
Old cars, trucks and buses stand a better chance of getting through as air intakes are higher up usually on top of the engine and alot less electronics but I still wouldn't take my classic through that
Years ago, my daughter went on a school trip and evidently the coach went through a ford where the water level was a little high.
