      @josefzocek9585@josefzocek95852 ай бұрын
    • @@josefzocek9585 He has long arms but they're fairly muscular, specially his biceps. Makes sense, that's a muscle that develops from climbing. He can't bench because benching targets the chest, shoulders and triceps. Nothing at all to do with biceps.

    • I love this aspect of the climbing community. I do think there are a few exceptions but they are also not mainstream sports. For example, Mitchell Hooper has some pretty fun stuff (worlds strongest man), Haftor Bjornnson (WSM making a huge comeback after a major pec tear last year), Bob Jones (powerlifter - explicit language but also interesting), and Taylor Atwood (also a powerlifter who is making a bit of a comeback?).

  • I actually had the same problem with 1 arm pull up as Adam, but after 8 years of climbing I figured out that the movement from straight hand to "where climbers start to feel strong" can be done wrong (I was doing it wrong). If I do it wrong, I am locked in ~150 degrees arm angle unable to move up. But if I do it is correct then I can keep pulling. I took my time just to learn this movement from straight to bent arm (I even stood underneath hangboard tensing and releasing my muscles without actual hanging just to learn the feeling of that movement until I figured out how to do it to have correct feeling when I get into bent arm position). I also did small amount of repetitions of "that part of movement that I used to do wrong". Once my brain figured out that movement and my muscles got used to it a little bit (around 3 weeks) I unlocked full one arm pull up. I am not even sure which part of that movement I did wrong, but I know the feeling of correct vs incorrect movement is different and learnable. At least in my case it was learnable. :)

  • 3:20 The wingspan of that guy is INSANE! To reach an IPF technically correct bench press, his elbows must drop below his shoulders, and then the bar must touch his chest (and I think there is a maximum grip width), so the proper bench form for Adam still requires a huge arch in his back to raise his chest to the bar once his elbows are down.

  • This was so much fun to watch. Usually we see you both concentrate and look serious while climbing. But this felt really fun and relaxed and your laughs are infectious 👍🏻 x

  • The touching the toes thing - my dad in his 60's could still could put his palms flat on the floor in front of his feet. My granddad was a circus acrobat, he used to walk up and down the stairs in his hands drunk at Christmas to impress us kids in his 60's - dad was a footballer. He still has incredible dexterity in his old age. Rides his pushbike to the pub (and home again drunk). Me? I have no flexibility at all! Nothing. My legs won't even go straight in front of me sat down, they bend at the knee! Noticeably. It was my biggest hangup climbing. I'd have to do moves that didn't require any stretching. When I climb now, it's only very easy low energy moves. But I'm old now. The only ability I inherited from them was the ability to operate normally when drunk! Lol. Thanks genetics! I can drink, but I'm rubbish at football and totally unflexable. I'd blame my mum, but she would probably laugh and say "well you got my brains!"

  • The walnut thing is weird because these guys have absolute monster hands and had troubles, but my grandpa used to just crack them open casually between his thumb and index finger while watching tv. Kind of have to respect the power you build over the years hauling heavy shit all day.
