Restoring The Chateaux Private GARDEN | Discovering ANCIENT Pottery.
Bonjour à tous, its back to work for the family restoring the chateaux private gardens. With the original gates now fitted Ash & Terry get to work on screening sections out, but while digging the holes Terry makes a discovery, ancient pottery hidden Deep down. The style and age looks to be medieval or even roman, but the family need your help to find out more about it.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

It never stops being amazing how beautifully you all work together. I know there would be times that are tense but you all so marvellous.
That little roofed area would make a cute patio to unwind after a busy day
You guys are so lucky to have the very handsome and hard working Jonathon there to help you with your “ just jobs”! Tracy looks like a natural at any job she turns her hand to- I admire your spirit and energy so much! Patrick is busy excavating huge holes of his own, while our handsome Ash and Terry crack on! The Dream Team! ❤️🇨🇦
Rita, I could not have said it better myself. They surely are The Dream Team❤
Amen to that!!!
There are fence post caps that incorporate solar lights which might be nice for your volunteers as they could sit out in the evenings and better see their way to the caravans from the château after dark.
Very good idea Nanci.
I almost bought some today for my house for use on my back gate. a good idea!
Didn't seem to be much room to sit out in the caravan area.
@@fredbear72ify The fencing is on the backside, so there isn't much need for room around them. Looks like a lot of space between them.
Love the fence! But the best is Patrick digging! He must be the happiest dog alive!! And the birds are so plentiful and loudly singing. You just have a happy place!
Is that a wren singing so enthusiastically? ❤

Patrick wins the award for DIGGER DOG OF THE YEAR!!! 😎🌻❤️
This is an extremely hard working family. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, just watching Tracy work makes my back hurt. She’s amazing.
Never seen a family work so hard together. They deserve all their dreams to come true.
There is no way Patrick will miss a day of digging if the family is working on the grounds. Lovely poochies❤❤
Awesome truffle dog!
His dedication & discipline makes me wonder what his main trajectory is! Has he got a goal or is it a just job? I imagine he wakes up early every day & looks out the window to see if it's a yucky rainy indoor day or if it's an adventure day! He probably makes Louis wish for his younger years!
Go Terry!! They will love your brilliant ideas. I can hardly wait to see them all!! Maybe some potted plants along your fence to help the volunteers to have a bit of beauty after a long day. 😊
That looks amazing, I suggest solar lights on the posts so that your volunteers can see the entrance to their van, it must be very dark in that area at night.
Jonathan melts my heart with his lovely smile What a gorgeous little lad. It’s great the way you all pitch into all the work and Tracy is worth her weight in gold. She’s tireless.
I love the happy enthusiasm in little Jonathan to help with the work around the Chateau. He has such great Mentors and his future as Lord of the Manor is bright! ❤🎉
My husband runs a mile when I say "Shall we JUST". Bless him, he knows it means money and a lot of time. He always obliges though. Really looking forward to all your jobs next week.
Hopefully Patrick is adequately compensation for carrying out his supervisory duties with such skill.
These “just” jobs always crack me up. Everything is so labor intensive!!!!
Maybe a power wash to the campers? Love the screens used and the entrance...you guys work so hard, it is great motivation for doing my own projects on the weekend.🙂
I was just thinking the same.😊
Never powerwash a caravan it will damage the seals and cause them to leak. Caravan seals are non setting.
Every house would have had a trash pit to throw out kitchen waste and bits of trash, great finds Terry.
That's what i learned from Time Team lol, every medieval castle has a midden. Terry might have just found it 😃
Compost Pile in medieval times!
It's so amazing to sit on this side of you tube and watch all your hard work and determination making your dream come true. Hats off to The Just Team!
Love the pottery shards you found and the tile piece! Maybe call the archaeology department at a university to check it out! Who knows, you might have discovered a Roman villa on your property! Time team anyone!?! 😂
Time Team Assemble!
Heavens no! If they’re like English Heritage, they’ll shut down all work at the Chateau and may try to take it. Best just clean it up and display it subtly.

I'm just wondering why y'all sat the fence panels against the dirt. It will hasten rot over time. Since you have so much excess height in the fence posts it would have made sense to install the panels a few inches above the dirt. Criticisms aside, I love your energy!
Good point, I was wondering about that too. A few inches of clearance would make all the difference to avoid moisture/rot on the bottom of the fence.
Gravel boards would have been a good idea, and by raising the fence up a bit higher, the caravans would have been wholly obscured, which I thought was the idea 💡 Other than that, it's an excellent fence.
@@chewy66 Of course good ole Tracy could "just" excavate a bit of a trench beneath the panels and fill it with some of the stones lying around.
@@margaretf6147 I agree.
I ❤ to hear Tracy laugh! She is a jolly person with a very positive attitude. Terry has inherited that beautiful trait as well. In fact, Ash is very positive too. That's what makes for a great team who get a lot accomplished. Good for the soul. 👍👍 Nice work today with the fence, it looks amazing! Great to have Jonathan help, keeping it all in the family.🤗 Even Patrick gets in on it! 😊
I love how the music in the videos make each episode feel like a movie
Awesome helper Jonathan! Patrick made me laugh digging his holes and getting a dirty nose, he's so cute. I love the jobs you are doing right now - it really tidies up the areas that detract from the beauty of the property. The "estate" is going to be so glorious! Tracy you just make me so happy! Your strength to carry on doing all the work you do is admirable! BTW cool finding the treasures while digging!
a bit of pressure washing the vans .... and hey presto
Thanks! I think the green tile is from a stove. I saw the same tiles on Beau Chateau. They had a complete stove. It’s the size of a small firebox in English houses. To keep the fence sections from rotting, maybe put up off the ground a few inches and place rocks underneath. You all are hard workers! I am amazed at the skills you show. Mom rocks!
Thank you so so much 🙏🥰🥰🥰
Forgot to add, I only watch to see Patrick😎
I saw that episode too. You could be right
I see Patrick is 'supervising' your hole digging. He looks so happy. Love watching your family working to solve any problems you encounter. Dont forget a nice fire pit area to sit around! 🔥 You are getting there...👍👍🥰
Tracy, look at you driving the tractor.. GO GIRL!
Hi Tracy, Terry & Ash, the pieces of matching pottery may be an oil urn for storing olive oil. The glazed piece may be a handle or part of a larger piece. Good luck and keep hunting, the finds are brilliant. Mark & Scott
I love the idea of an outdoor kitchen. In fact, it is a must! 🤣😂🤣😂❤️❤️
You add so much happiness to our day when we watch you all. Everyday you make progress.
The dark copper color tile looks like it could be from the Middle Ages. The handles could be date by a pottery specialist in archeology. Don’t look roman but could be older than Middle Ages. Would be fun to contact your local archeologists and have them take a look. Very cool finds! Should make an area just to display your discoveries. Like a little museum in one of the outbuildings. Oh no another just jobs!😂
How are you going to move caravans out of the area if required? Will they fit between the posts?
I was thinking the exact same thing.
They just unscrew a fence panel.
I was not concerned about removing the panels but the posts are pretty close together to fit a caravan through. Unless they never intend to use the caravans outside their current locations.
Jonathan is growing so tall! ❤
Jonathan is a good assistant ❤ Marvelous !
Old pottery finds are so very exciting.
This is such an in chanting little segment of garden. I’m really loving watching the progress on this. Can’t wait for the next one 💕🇦🇺💕
You could ask ask Amy from Château de Rosieres about the pottery you found. She is an archeologist by trade.
Jonathan has caught on to the "another just job". Bless him. The fence was worth the hard work.
How are you going to move the caravans if needed
Pre refuse collection days most houses had a place tucked away from the main house where they disposed of their household rubbish. You may have found it.
Love the loud, French birds in the background demanding to be part of the conversation.
I do love Tracy’s sense of humour 😂❤
The area where u found the pottery shards could be a trash site where many broken pottery containers were strewn from previous occupants. There could be a lot more waiting to be dug up.
Will you be able to get the caravans out between the fence posts?
I agree- there could/should be enough space or gates to remove the caravans…
Ain't no way to get them out without taking down the fence. Does anyone know why they still need them.?
Oh .... now I get it ... the volunteers stay there.
@@bamagirl7394, if I recall they mentioned in a previous video the volunteers stay in the caravans.
I could be wrong but it looks like you could remove a panel by unscrewing it, hitch up pull the rig through and you're good. The park I have my 5th wheel in does it like that.
Good to see Patrick in all his Dachshund-ness, with his nose stuck into the freshly turned dirt! You all do amazing work; it's looking great!
"The Secret Garden". Can't wait for you all to have your own outdoor space to kick back and relax. Much deserved!
Can’t tell you how much I enjoy watching all your hard work. It inspires me to get out and do jobs around the yard. I pass by a very old home here in Kentucky (no where near as old as things where you are) and their stone entrance needs repair. I want to tell them to watch your channel and see how to fix it and make it look better. Crack on!!!
We could also use a drone shot to see where you’re working now in relation to the chateau.
I really love the look of the fencing around the travel trailers! A string of lights going from post to post for visability and look! Also solar ones would be great! Can not wait for Wednesday people! Have a good week ! Love from Indiana!
My Johnathan has grown so quickly this year! Another helper!
Hi everyone, your work ethic is amazing, you decide what needs doing next at the chateau & you all get stuck in ! Well done Jonathan helping with the hard work 🥰 Take care lots of love 🥰💕
Same polo shirts. Aw sooo cute! 😍
"Just " another job well done.
Laughed so hard when Ash raised his hand and proclaimed " I had nothing to do with this!" The look on your face was priceless 😅 It's coming together so fast in this space, love the caravan fencing. Looking forward to the windows next week!❤ See you Wednesday!😊
What a great find Terry! The one piece of glazed pottery is intriguing! Surely more modern than the others which look maybe early 1700's. Johnathan is growing up so fast but what a great helper.
Ash, you are very good at narrating the video. You have a beautiful voice.
I think Terry and that bird are in cahoots on all the just jobs
As usual the Lord of the Manor is the best supervisor and post hole digger ever. I just love that boy so cute and busy.
Love the sound of the birds twittering! It will be a great for the volunteers to wake up to the sound of birds -just delightful 😊 17:11
Maybe grow honeysuckle or jasmine on the outside of the panels, it will hide them and the scent in the evening will be glorious
Hi beautiful family, Johnathon is a wonderful helper, learning all the tools of the trade early on. Wonder woman Tracy, the energizer bunny, always going. Terry and Ash, you boys are the best, having a plan and tackling it bit by bit, until all is finished. Great job everyone on the caravan fence. Love from N.Y.
Looks really nice. I would put some string lights on top of the posts along the fence. The yard is coming along nicely now 😊 Looking forward to seeing what’s next ❤
Hello Darlings Hard work But how you come up with these wonderful ideas, is what makes me glued to watch Love you all ❤🐶
I bet you could find a lot of things buried on the property. Always a surprise!
Is Jonathan fluent in French now? What a great experience for a little boy.
He is Sally and he loves school 👍👍😊
Fluency in a language may come after many years, not in a year. By the time he’s in high school (lycee) his French shroud be very good (if he wants it to be).
Well done team. It looks great. I had a giggle about Terry's plans for the just job kitchen, even the birds joined in! And laughed too. Lovecas always from County Durham xxx
Many Bishof had a brilliant idea. The tops of the posts could have those caps which contain solar lights. Not cheap here in the U S maybe over there they may be cheaper. So useful and pretty though. Great video as always. Love you all, big hugs, great job Jonathan💕🐥💕👏
I love how Terry dreams big ❤❤❤❤
Johnathan is so cute.. and a great helper
Can you do the original intro every once in a while so that the new people can “meet” everyone?
The progress you have made is amazing, its all down to team work and hard graft which you never stop doung. Well done everyone, loved Jonathan showing his sense of humour and I must add you all look so happy and healthy. 💕🇦🇺
What a brilliant idea fencing in the caravans, it will make everything look neater and should protect the units as well. The design is beautiful, well done!! What a team!!
Yay! Can't wait to see what your sharing today!
Terry’s “another just job” cracked me up 😅😅😅 I like the idea of solar lights for the area. Contact an university to see if there’s anyone interested in looking at the pottery pieces. What a piece of history you might have dug up. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
So much good design happening / in the words of the great Jonathon -Marvellous 🎉🎉🎉
Such marvelous advances you're all making on this area of the chateau's grounds. It's becoming a very welcome private work and rest area for the family and close friends as you proceed with the renovation/restoration. I loved seeing how much Jonathan's grown in comfort in front of the camera and helping out in significant ways, and I thought the pastoral music choices were excellent for this episode.
Hi Jonathan❤. You are getting so tall. 🎉 Your team is working hard, as usual.
The idea of putting some kind of solar powered light on top of the fence posts is great!
Jeezo Jonathan has taken a stretch. X
You are really cracking along now! I think small solar light caps atop the fence post could give a soft lighting effect for anyone navigating the dark ... that might be just the thing for your screened area.
Love love love everything that you are doing!!
Another awesome video. I am sure a bird stole one of your mics...lol. Your private garden is really coming along. Much love as always ❤ 🇨🇦 🍻
Belle of the Ball The Old Lady (chateau) is looking grander with every stone laid, every whole dug, and all the ivy REMOVED 😄 . Sooner than you think, she will be the belle of the ball.
Could you poke holes in the black plastic covering for water. I put that stuff around my trees and the trees died. I was upset about my trees. I love hearing the birds.
It's good to see Jonathan smiling. Love to you all.
Looking wonderful, I enjoyed seeing Johnathan and the dogs. Beautiful fence panels!!!!!
I loved how you restored the service gates....beautiful!
Wow looks like a strong fence to keep the volunteers captive 😂😂😂
I hate to bring up this possibility, but servants would collect the bed chamber pots and dump them into the outhouse/privy/loo and sometimes they slip and land in there to stay (until you discovered it). Sometimes, they would also toss broken pottery in from the kitchen too. Anyhow, hope that isn't the case. 😄
Wished i lived down the road. I'd be there helping .... always something to do .. Great, another JUST JOB done 😅😊
The caravans could do with a little power wash after the gravel goes down.......just another thing to add to the list.....😉🇨🇦
Jonathan, I am so proud of you! Soon you’ll be a grown man as fine as your Uncles, with all their skills. You guys are my very favorite chateau owners and Tracy, wow! You go girl! Even Patrick helps! Hope you aren’t planning on getting the campers out soon, but lucky volunteers.
What do you expect from such hard working people? That they would have a lazy, lounge around the place dog? No way, the dog has to have a great work ethic too!😅😅😅❤❤❤
What beautiful fence panels. I’ve never seen that type. Oh, outside kitchens are quite normal in the states. It’s supposed to be in the high 90’s here in northeast Texas this week. That’s the mid 30’s Celsius for y’all. There’s no way I’m turning on my oven and heating up the house. I’ll cook on the grill outside most of the summer.
Central Texas here. No need to grill outside. Put the grate on the cement, aluminum foil as a reflector panel and you can now brag about "sun" cooking.
It might be worth taking the pieces of pottery to a museum before you get the super glue out. It might be something that dates back to when the Chateau was built. It could be a garden urn or something like that. XXX
Wow you all are role models in starting a job and finishing it. It all looks so tidy and fit for the grounds of a chateau 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 PS have I missed where Toni is working presently ?
Tony is back in the UK (for now)
Don't forget to take time off for yourselves.
Great job as always lovely to see Jonathan he is growing up so fast. Only criticism I have folk who occupy the caravans won't have much of a view bit claustrophobic
Another just job 😂❤ The landscaping around the newly finished gates looks great! Ready made femce panels!? Makes a just job easier!!!
Love how everyone gives Terry stick about his "just jobs". Great work everyone.
