I often think that if I could time travel, one of the first if not the very first places I’d go is to Brian Epstein’s apartment the night he accidentally overdosed, and I’d go rescue him. Had he lived, or been able to clean out, he would have taken care of the Beatles, leaving them free to create. His death, their dive into business instead of art, then Allen Klein and all that business and legal lawsuit awfulness--that is what broke up the Beatles. They never had anything but love and brotherhood, till they starting having to do their own business. ugh. Instead of the Apple thing blowing up, they could have taken a break, done individual projects, and then Brian would have eventually had them over for dinner and planned new things. His death, was the end of the free creativity-only Paul had a work ethic. Everybody else wanted to sit around and do nothing. Paul drove them crazy. But even he needed someone to handle the business end, and he had his in laws by then. Very safe, very smart. John, George and Ringo struggled for years without any smart business person relieving them of the burden and giving them the freedom to create. George never found it. Yoko provided it by finding David Geffen-who was perfect to manage John, and would have been a perfect successor to Epstein, had he come on the scene earlier. Ok, this is a crazy analogy, but it’s the same with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. She was free to create and be a genius comic, while he was the mastermind and producer and businessman who ran things. She just showed up and played like a child. When she lost that, she became hard, abrasive, and shouted all her lines to the audience. Horrible. Ok, back the Beatles… once Klein was out of the way, and Lennon and Harrison realized Paul had been right, they were all making overtures to one another. The Eastmans were perfect to manage the business affairs, and once Lennon realized that, he was honest enough to admit it. He said “Paul was right” on the Mike Douglass Show. So many ifs. the main if was that by the end of his life, Yoko would have welcomed Paul taking John off her hands for a few months here and there. They could have gotten together and created music again. I’m sure that’s what each of them wanted. And hey, it was 1980, I bet John would have found a good therapist and he and Paul could have hugged it out. Didn’t they have plans to meet up in New Orleans in 1974, but Yoko short circuited it. Then they had plans to meet up in England when John planned to travel there in early 1981. Anyway. Just sitting here enjoying the music and my gummie. :-) peace out, everybody!

Nice to see these great guys composing as friends, not as an obligation of contracts and busines and etc...
That’s the beautiful thing, besides the music 🎶 which in the early years, it came first, but they really did love each other as brothers so sad how we lost John great video, amazing song
We miss you John and George.
We miss James Paul McCartney (1942-1966)
So sweet to see John and George working together on this gorgeous song.
I return to this video now and again to pretend I'm in the studio with them.
What was that?.. aw UTuber don't comment in the middle of a f***in' take..
THANKS JOHN N GEORGE ARE ALWAYS FAB 4 EVER.😊❤
Esses 2 eram absolutamente talentosos. Incrível a qualidade do trabalho deles. Sem dúvida, dois dos maiores músicos do século.
This is really a beautiful song......Johns haunting vocals with the piano bear a similarity to Imagine.
I was amazed at the intensity that caused John to get rightfully pissed and how they recovered and continued. The love John displayed for George was palpable.God they were good. Others in The Industry must have thrown up their arms in what the hell moments many
Rest in Peace George Harrison and most of all John Lennon...
This is pure gold silk!! Genuine history in the making. Thank you
Juanito y Jorgito tocando esta belleza de canción " oh mi amor" excelente por dónde la veas ah si!!!
I had no idea George worked on this song with John! This video was such a treat thank you so much
Me too
George worked on the whole album...
@@marjanp4784 that’s even cooler!
@Marjan P holy shit I never knew that
@@MrOasis316 yes... George played on 5 of the 10 songs of Imagine album...and According to John, George played his best solo on "Crawdaddy"... surprisingly George wasn't entirely impressed with his own performance!!!! He even wanted to go for another take..but John said he liked it. There's an article about John and George's collaboration on Imagine album... it's on "The Guitar world" magazine...you can read it if you're interested...
Such a beautiful song. Always brings tears to my eyes.
Footage is from June 1971, nearly 2 years after the Beatles were together in a studio for the last time (August 1969).
За репетицией любимых музыкантов можно наблюдать бесконечно❤
Grazie john, e a george❤
Love what Yoko says about Love being relaxation. Spot on.
Such a beautiful song.
John George and Nicky Hopkins it couldn’t be anything less than great.
Yes, John loved Yoko, but she adds as much value as a fly in arranging and performing music.
Perhaps her influence un lyrics was wider and deeper than we are aware of. I' m thinking of the lyrics in " Imagine"
Just my impression
Yoko actually majored in music composition at Sarah Lawrence. So is there is at least a chance that you're sadly mistaken?
As did Phil Spector
John was real sweet heart 💛
Irony that I read this comment as he said “what the fuck was that Neil?” 😂
Wow! I remember I’m only 13 years old when I first heard this song and since then I fell in love with this music.
You posted this 22 years to the day that George passed away.
@@exdemocrat9038 Really?
My 2 favourite ex-beatles, John and George. This was from the documentary Gimme Some Truth which was about the making of Lennon's Imagine album. I have it, as i've been a Beatles+solo work for over 40 years. All You Need Is Love ☮️✌️🍏🚶🚶🚶🚶
and protein . 😎
Genius at work.
We are fortunate to have this footage of Lennon’s creative process and musical performance. It’s one thing to read a story about this session, but to see what is going on makes it pretty clear what was going on. Wonderful stuff!
Yoko tinha a voz de criança!❤💞😢
Truly Fascinating. I wish I lived in studio anytime any of them recorded.
John's voice is so pure,thank u for sharing💜
Everything is clear in my heart ❤️🔥⚡
George and John worked together in this album, even creating a McCartney diss track together😅. Ringo played drums several times in John and George's records and live performances. John gave his songs to Ringo when Ringo was creating his solo albums. I guess the one who was hard to work with was Paul. 😂 But all in all, i love them all
It's way more complicated than that.
Love it!
I love yoko she was good for john❤
George was a genius! Creates a master guitar from nothing
Wouldn't be surprised if he was the one playing bass on the finished version.
His guitar was omitted from the final cut.
George was a hunter & explorer. His zest & passion brought the creativity. Bringing new & fresh concepts is how progress is made.
2:55 best version of this song in existence including the studio recording
2:55 What a beautiful take... John's voice breaking makes it very poignant.
いくら喧嘩しようがジョンにとってジョージは大切なパートナーだったわけですね。
I loved this album in my younger days. And Imagine wasn't the tune I liked like this one.
What a beautiful song.
Este hombre con un piano transmitia un aura única, te deja con un vacio emocional que es inexplicable.
I have this dvd & it’s great.
What movie is this please?
@@gengar2600 I think it’s “above us only sky”
Magique, magnifique ❤
Each of the Beatles needed the others. Makes you realize why Dylan and Brian Wilson couldn’t eclipse them. The 4 Beats 1, no matter how much of a genius
Ring off! Amused George John Lennon had less than ten years to live! Cut down by a madman when he was Starting Over. Miss him so much!!
I find this so moving
Yoko is in control as John sings about being free.... George is my mentor to this day❤
didn’t he beat her? lol

I always think of the movie "Little Darlings" with Kristy McNichols when I hear this song That's the first time I heard it when I saw the movie in the theaters. It made that much of an impression , such a great song.
Many things stand out (to me) when watching the footage from these sessions that is just how cramped in they all where and I can’t imagine how anyone can sing while chain smoking as it usually takes the top end off ones voice .
Cuanto más pasa el tiempo y más viejo me vuelvo, más reafirmo una idea, .... La música ha evolucionado durante 300 años e hizo techo en los años 70s" después empezó la involución,,, .. después de esto todo es redundancia, ...❤
This is real music, no computerised (AI) voices or any thing else. Just great music and singing. Not like 2days music.
The Beatles didn't use overdubs?? They literally pioneered studio editing. The way music is the way it is today is down to The Beatles and Lennon (and there's tons of amazing music around today). These nostalgia-laden wank is so boring. Your comment I mean, not the song, which is gorgeous.
@@L0-np8zx I said they didn’t use over dubs …..boring really u don’t me or who I am …..foolish.
@@patriciagonzales2148 I'm saying they absolutely did use overdubs and were one of the innovators. You may or may not be boring, your assertion that 'music was better in the old days' is a boring tired cliché from people who have no knowledge of modern music

Don't be nervous, John. Don't be nervous.
He was always impatient in the studio, and being heavily into cocaine made it worse.
“Im not”
That's why he gave us so many great songs, he worked his but off.
Thank you for sharing
George - “John, I’ll play whatever you want me to play, or I won’t play anything at all”
Haaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha. "Whatever it is that will please you, I'll do it."
Wow! A tip of the old chapeau to you, my friend. Wonder if this cuts in after George has tried playing slide guitar and it didn't work/got vetoed? Great to see probably the best keyboard player in rock and roll history, Mr. Nicky Hopkins, at work. Magical piano part. This reminds me that John's first two solo albums were essentially Beatles records made while Paul was on vacation.
Wonderful.
Money, notoriety, and status allows him to react to the studio tech that way. Ill bet he didnt speak to George Martin in such fashion. Liked them all when they were "Liverpool Lads".
Música pura.
Love this….
After the tape setback, both their games are raised. The final take is better than the first one would have been. (That's the technician's story, and he's sticking to it).
❤️what is up with/this rendition??? Very good! Thank u for posting.. 👍😇👌❤️😘
It was not unusual for other Beatles to work together on their solo songs.
yeah, they just hated Paul during this period.
@@LaurelDenver But if you think about it, Paul was being very overbearing. The other Beatles' were only getting increasingly frustrated with only getting a song or 2 per LP. Look what happened When they went solo, George had a 3 LP release as his 1st release. Others all had solo LPs out in their days following their breakup.
@@robertadams6606Ringo has said that their last three albums would not have happened without Paul pushing them.
@@resistyrnyc8862 That's a huge reason why the split happened Paul became overbearing near the end. George for 1 walked out at 1 point.
