"Gotham Knights is a consistently disappointing return to Batman’s troubled city and a distinct step backwards from the past decade-plus of Batman games. Even if running around Gotham in two-player co-op can be decent fun and each of the four playable crime fighters are well executed in their dialogue and distinctive moves, too many of the fundamentals fall short for me to recommend it. From the inconsistent frame rates, to the weak story, to one-note combat that rarely feels good, there was virtually always something going wrong to make sure I wasn’t experiencing the triumphant return with my friends at my side I had envisioned."

The Arkham games and recent Spider-Man game didn’t need health bars because the challenge came down to being skilled enough to adapt to different enemy types. Use your head bro

A Guardians of the Galaxy style game with the Batman the Animated Series crew would rock. You'd get Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski's Dark Deco world without falling into the trappings of open world games plus you get still get sidekicks with streamlined combat & progression.
While this is a really great idea, now that we just lost the best Batman, Kevin Conroy, I'm gonna have to depressingly shelve this dream project, indefinitely. Why do we always have to lose the best humans... 😪 R.I.P., Bats.

we were spoiled when we were younger to fully appreciate what we had
Games are a hell of a lot more expensive to make nowadays. 20 years ago it costed around 1-5 million to make a triple A title, now it costs a minimum of 100 million. With more and more money involved creativity is taken away from studios and investors want proven formulas that bring players in and keep their attention. Now those formulas are outdated and don't work like they use to. Just look at how many times Ubisoft has used the FC/AC formula for over a decade and now players are burnt out.
Nah they just keep tryin new stuff and half assing it and stop dropping obviously flawed games because the fix was "more than the console could handle"

They should've kept to what they were doing with the Arkham series. Arkham knight was great but it had it's issues to especially when it came to management. The PC port was badly handled and the game never really did much after release. The dlc was subpar and they never updated the game to run at higher fps on newer gen consoles. For a high octane arkham game to release nowadays it needs 60 fps
Those deeps in the framerate near the end of the review are absolutely unacceptable.
Seems like the 5/10 is being very generous. Poor gameplay, bugs, lack of combat cohesion, lack of enemy variety, poor performance, balancing issue in single player, etc.

Making it an RPG in the first place was the first red flag. And my fears were confirmed that the customization is a confusing nightmare to navigate and it overcomplicates things when it didn’t have to.
You have to literally play as all the four characters to unlock any customisation, like you have to play the same missions 4 times with different characters each time every single time. Like what pothead thought of this idea
It wasn’t overly complex , that’s the problem . The Crafting was straight out of a mobile game . Grab random pieces from dead bad guys and randomly create a suit that just randomly shows up in your crafting menu and you don’t even need to be near a workbench to create things , just to put them on ? 😅 Their crafting system was an overly simplified mess . It would have been perfectly fine by most gamers If it was complex .

Why they didn't take the source code from Arkham Knight, put the Bat family in Batman's place (each one with a different gameplay), improve the graphics, design new missions, write a new story, and it's done, game of the year material, they already did this with Batman Arkham Origins.
Why do they always want to kill Batman, they could have easily kept Batman alive while you play one of the Sidekicks, he could have operated as a type of Mission control off doing his own thing while sending you off on your own missions. What's with the world these days where they always want to kill off or destroy the classic heroes.

In one of the trailers, we caught a glimpse of pick ups showing multiple crafting materials or currencies. Instant red flag. Unfortunately, it showed what's true.

A simple concept perfected will be timeless and will grow in complexity. A complex concept cannot be accomplished without the concepts that make it fully mastered. Fundamentals are everything, and because of the bones of the first series, those mastered concepts should have been kept.
