Klopp had never played or managed in the Premier League before taking over at Liverpool. Neither did Wenger, or Fergie, or Pep, or Mourinho. So the point that was made about needing to know the league and the culture beforehand has been proven false many times before.

What does Simon not understand about the fact Klopp turned a 7th place team into league and European champions on a lower net spend than the likes of Villa & West Ham? No he hasn’t won as much as some of the other greats, but as the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea & UTD have shown in recent years, it’s very very difficult beating Pep & his 115 charges FC to the title.
He chooses not to understand. If this was Crystal palace, he'll be singing his praises. De Boer failed at Pakace but he won't talk about that. Klopp is a legend.

Keown made some great points. Also Klopp achieved 2 seasons of 90+ points where they didn't win the league. At any place at any time a team with that amount of points would canter to the title. But Man City, Pep and the 115 charges have elevated the bar artificially high (especially if the 115 charges stick) so Klopp is dreadfully unlucky not to have 3 league titles instead of 1. With a bit more luck he might have had 1 more champions league. Not sure Simon appreciates this when he talks about the trophy haul.
115 charges were from 2009 to 2018, let's not use that an excuse for 2019 onwards. Getting 94 points and all this mya look good but if you don't win the league you're the same as the team in 4th with 65 points.

Holland calling. Arne Slot is a very very good coach. Feyenoord was for tens of years suffering on the pitch and financially. He, together with manager Dennis te Kloese turned it around in two years. Feyenoord is now financially prosperous and are reeling in trophies. No guarantee of course, but he is very good. Far better than Ten Hag.

Considering any team have to compete against a City team that is the most expensive squad ever assembled and lead by Pep of all people. Any manager that can take a few trophies still. Is an amazing achievement. Slot is going to have a mountain to climb.
Yes I agree. Had Liverpool overachieved and won the league this year the pressure on the new guy would’ve been immense. Maybe it’s good in a weird way that they’ve only won the carabao cup. I also think we’ve seen why it’s probably not a great thing for a manager to announce mid season that he’s leaving at the end of the season. I think maybe it gave the team a bit of a boost, but I think now the emotion (and injuries) are catching up with them now. I mean it’s probably good in that it has given the team time to find a new replacement, but I don’t think it’s helped the team on the pitch.

Just something I picked up on yesterday as there appears to be a lot of talk in regard to Slot being Dutch and the worry that comes with that. Slot is from the boarder of Holland in fact just 3 miles out from Germany. A Dutch journalist mentioned yesterday that Slot is half German in many ways, personality wise more Klopp like than ETH. I guess we will find out for ourselves soon enough.

People really have no clue how remarkable Klopp's success is if you take everything into account. Look where they were when he took over and where they are now. Even tho he didn't win more trophies, which was down to being up against one of the most financially doped clubs in european football, he leaves the club in a 100 times better state than before he took over while other clubs who spent billions in the last few years are still an absolute mess.
@funk ranri got sacked at Leicester the next season as they were close to relegation and he also got sacked at every other club he managed. You seemed to have left that out…..

@@jameshansing5396 I actually do 'know' a bit about Slot since the news Chelsea were interested in him a while back. So I looked up his 'stats' in the Dutch league. He's basically a Dyche and Potter type. Decent but nothing special. Definitely not a 'top 5' manager. Nothing wrong with wanting the best in class for my team and being disappointed publicly with a bang average appointment. I've supported LFC since the early 70's and have seen the highs and lows first hand as a season ticket holder until emigrating 12 years ago. I've earned the right to display my disappointment.

I am so greatfull to have had, wonderfull Jürgen klopp, at Anfield. He has been a dream. However, he does seem to have run out of steam right at the end. Ironically, it may help the mop, to say goodbye. Thanks Jürgen, we finish the season, with another trophy in the cabinet, and another champions League campaign to look forwards to next term.
