  • I think the main reason most KZheadrs (who most everyone is referring to when they say “everyone is returning it!”) are returning them is because they never had any intention of keeping them in the first place. They did it for the views, got the views, and now they need to return it before the 14 days are up.

    @wordrebel@wordrebel3 ай бұрын
    • That’s their right but it seems strange for them not to keep it for more long term coverage.

  • People forgot how it was with apple 1st gen iPhone. There were very few apps and aside from answering calls, everything else was in "trial" mode. It's the same here, AVP is just the beginning and returning it takes the ability of exploring new features, I am a strong believer this product will only get better.

  • I similarly get 60 minutes of comfort with the default band. With dual loop band I get up to eight hours comfortably. I would recommend to go and check if they can change your light shield and make sure that the dual loop band is right sized for your head

    @yele@yele3 ай бұрын
    • I'm still undecided about which band I prefer the most.. When I'm using the Double-Loop I wish I was using the Default band, and reverse. I have used it for about 4 hours with the default band. if I make it too tight my scalp would get numb, so I have to watch out for that.

    • I really wish they used the headband they showed in the original marketing, which combined the Solo Knit in the back with the Dual Loop strap on top. I feel like that would’ve been the best of both worlds.

      @acslater017@acslater0173 ай бұрын

    • I gave the default band another try after using dual loop since the launch. Now it felt comfortable and have been fine for many hours. Apparently I have developed some AVP muscle with daily use...

      @yele@yele2 ай бұрын
  • On the dual loop band, my initial use of it was terrible and I went with the single loop. After a few days I decided to try it again and found out one thing. The best way to fit it properly is to see where the pressure is. If it’s too heavy on the forehead, loosen the top strap and let the Vision Pro drop a little. If the pressure is mostly on the cheeks, loosen the back band to let it equalize. You may have to compensate with tightening the top band. Once you’ve got it somewhat balanced, then mildly tighten both to secure. Once I figured out that trick, I can get the dual loop to be rather comfortable. I can easily wear the headset four to six hour with either band.

    • The actual best way is to look to third parties. BoBo VR, for example, has been making head straps for the Quest for years; they're amazing. Some have made a 3D-printed part that lets you use a BoBo head strap with the Vision Pro. Looking on Reddit shows people talking about it. It sounds much more comfortable and fixes the problem of pressure on your nose, cheeks, etc.

      @James-lw3gi@James-lw3gi2 ай бұрын
    • @@James-lw3gi It’d be nice. I saw a 3D printed adapter that allows you to use two solo loop bands. But for me, I don’t have a 3D printer, so those options are out. I’ve yet to see any third party band yet. Maybe soon, but for now, Apple’s are the only way to go.

  • 2 weeks later and the amount of apps doubled. Apple Vision Pro will be very popular in the next generations as it will get lighter and cheaper. Here’s something people don’t seem to know about Apple: when they release a new category, they usually already have at least 50% of the new version ready, including ideas for software. I worked at Apple and they control the release of features and they have a crazy lineup control based on data research and it’s scarily accurate. 😊

  • I bought my AVP because my wife & I dabble in 3D and 360-degree travel photography, and hoped to use it as a display device. Alas, while it’s easy to display spatial videos shot on an iPhone or the AVP itself, those recordings are subpar quality compared to the dedicated photo gear we use, such as a Canon R5 with the dual fisheye lens and an Insta360 X3. But it’s a HUGE project to massage those recordings into a format the AVP can use, and even then it requires a very buggy third-party player. Still, this is “only” a software problem, so I’ve decided to keep the AVP and hope it gets fixed. The lack of multiple user accounts is also an EXTREMELY annoying issue, but not one that I expect Apple to ever fix-because, Apple.

  • I am so glad I found your video because it is such a great evaluation of Vision Pro. I was ready to return the AVR because at 87 I certainly find it too heavy. Your video is so positive that it will only get better I feel I just have to stay the course to find out. The cost for me is not prohibitive and I am taking the view that it is less than the cost of a one week trip on a cruise, where I would eat too much and see places that I have been to before. I am hoping that somewhere I will find an immersive video of Japan as that is one of the few places on my bucket list I have not been to. Put in that context I expect to be blown away by upcoming content and I do not think I will be disappointed, So, thank you for your positive attitude and thank you for encouraging me to stay the course. The main thing I am hoping for is a way to use it without the weight causing some discomfort. Did you see the video where someone had modified a military helmet so that the whole headset swivelled down over the eyes without putting any pressure on the face. Now that was perfect and I am hoping some after market genius can come up with something like that.

The workaround for me has been using lighter immersive environments but I want to use cinema and the theatre Disney plus environments.

Ive also learned you can position the avp for more comfort then tighten the strap. I do look forward to some 3rd party companies that might be able to design a better alternative,, maybe a thinner light seal, to move it closer to your face, and perhaps a more ridged single band like the quest 3,,, all in all, im super happy. • Basically my thoughts as well, and why I'm keeping mine even with its current flaws and limited utility. Media consumption is a system seller. It's the best home theatre, and a I already have a pretty good projector home theatre system. But now I get to have a home theatre in my bedroom that I can lie down to watch movies. And that experience is so good. I don't think it will work for me as a laptop workstation, since I tend to have a lot of code on screen at a time and the display resolution itself isn't sharp enough for me to use that way. It also needs its own IDE & development environment, and I don't think Apple will allow that, given that they don't have a version of Xcode yet on iPad.

  • Love your videos Dan, but one thing that concerns me with all these KZhead videos in the lack of content around eye safety and just how your eye's respond once the headset is taken off after a while in the headset and you return to the real world, and if over time all will suffer the same problem that optometrist are concerned about - and that is the number of people that they see with regards to shortsightness in regards to phones, iPad etc. ( I include myself in this, by the way). Remember this is not a TV in which you sit a recommended distance from in relation to the size of the TV, you literally have 2 4k screens sitting inches away from each eyeball, that can't be good in the long run, anyway sounds like a revolutionary product and I'm glad you like it, though I have to say not for me, not because of what I have mentioned above, but I just would not have the workflow to justify the expense (I am from Australia, and the Vision Pro will retail around $5,300 Dollars by the time it is released in Australia, when that is is anyone's guess.) I Don't want to sound like a wet blanket, but I just wish KZheadrs when reviewing gadget like this inform people of the Health risk associated with these product. I am curious to know if a person would be any better at “typing” with the thumbs rather than with the the index finger since there is already muscle memory from the phone. Or would it even read your thumbs when typing?

    @qa1327@qa13273 ай бұрын
    • No the keyboard cannot be resized. I’d have to do some testing to confirm but I believe it only tracks one finger per hand so you’re kind of hunting and pecking. I’ve gotten somewhat accustomed to it and it’s fine for short search entries, text messages, passwords, etc. especially when you utilize autocomplete. For longer writing, I switch to dictation or a Bluetooth keyboard. I’d love to see investment in this in future visionOSs, eg swype, multi finger tracking, & pinning to a surface.

    @rjjacobson1@rjjacobson13 ай бұрын
    • As long as you don’t have a PRISM setting in your prescription, Zeiss should be able to make your prescription. Go ahead and go through the steps for ordering the Zeiss lenses and it’ll walk you through step by step. If at the end they can’t make them, there will be a dialog that tells you that. You still have to complete the purchase manually, so it won’t accidentally order it until you’re ready. I have Zeiss lenses and both eyes have a bit of astigmatism and are not equally bad. The lenses work fine on my Vision Pro. When you get a Vision Pro and lenses, you’ll have to scan a circular “barcode” on the packaging to sync up your lenses with the headset, so the headset will know how to adjust for them. In the Settings app, you’ll then see your prescription there with a no prescription setting with your prescription having a check mark next to it, meaning you can technically toggle between them, useful if you’re sharing your headset with someone else.

Additionally, it would be great if Apple could update the iPad mini to include duo stereoscopic cameras of equal focus length, as well as the ability to view and edit 3D photos and videos directly on the device. This would allow for previewing and making minute adjustments before uploading to the Vision Pro for an immersive viewing experience.

One thing someone may have touched on is that you should power down VP before removing it after a session. You can do that several ways, one of which is by going into settings, scroll down to the bottom of the General settings and choose “Shut Down”. A slider will appear to power off- or, you can just say Hey Siri, Shut down Vision Pro and it will turn off. This should solve the battery problem. • I‘m not getting it!? 😉 The Vision Pro is an overengineerd product for me. It is for sure interresting. But as you said it still has so much flaws. Maybe all the intigrated tech justifies the price. But for a third of the price beeing an external Display for my other Apple devices, I think I have bought one. I dont want to complain. This is a product, that just is not ment for me. So one last thought. Why if there is that nasty external battery dangeling on that cable, dident they include all the computing stuff in that external case to make the headset smaller and lighter. I‘m not getting it…

  • There is nothing about it that would want me to keep it for 3500.. Not even for 1000. For content and gaming the Quest 3 is much much better than the AVP. Hell even for work the Quest 3 is ok. Sure the AVP has higher res screen and better passthrough (though still not great) but again not for 3500…. Only rich fan boys will keep the AVP. In my opinion AVP is absolutely a failure…

  • This video is spot on. Every point matches my experience even the selection of the band. I assumed that the dual loop would be better but the pressure on my face was uneven and there was light bleed all around. Switching to the solo band gave me a perfect fit and was more comfortable with even pressure. Plus, with the dial you can fine adjust and it looks so nice.

    @drjosephs347@drjosephs3472 ай бұрын
  • This review is better than most (gave it a thumbs up) but I feel strongly that people need to be warned that so much of what reviewers are saying is totally subjective. For example, the dual band headband flat out saved me. If I were stuck with the single band, I might have actually returned it to Apple. Both bands are very sensitive to adjustment (BOTH strap length(s) and headset position on your face taken together) and you really have to put in the time to find the right adjustments for you. After getting the dual band just right, I can wear mine forever. I don't feel any of the face pressure this reviewer describes and never feel the need to take it off even after hours and hours of wearing it. The time limit suggested in this video only applies to this specific reviewer. Totally agree about the APP store being horrible. What could Apple possibly be thinking ? They spend years and years and tons of money developing this and THAT's their app store for it ? In fact, in general, I wonder what the hell Apple has been doing over the last year since the announcement in MANY ways. I love the "person near you emerges into view from the background" feature this reviewer says literally doesn't work, and it ALWAYS works perfectly for me (is his defective ?). Also, I think the "Eyesight" feature needs to be improved just as is said here, but I think it's a totally great idea and I hope Apple doesn't take reviewer's "just get rid of it" comments seriously. Those people should just turn it off in settings if they don't like it and not presume to speak for everyone. When I first put mine on after setting up "Persona", my girlfriend came up to me and said, "Oh, I can see your eyes ! That's so cool !". Totally agree that "Guest Mode" sucks. Again, what is Apple thinking ? Don't they want to entice new users to want one for themselves ? As it is, it's such a PITA potential buyers are just going to get a bad impression of the whole thing. I totally disagree with the comment that the videos shot on the phone are SO much worse than those taken from AVP itself. They ARE not as good but the difference is nowhere NEAR as extreme as this reviewer states. I'm not picking on MacRumors - I notice these kinds of things and more with most of the reviews I've watched, both positive and negative. The bottom line is, don't trust anybody's opinions especially with this thing, you've GOT to try it for yourself.

  • Did Apple gift you the device or did you genuinely pay for it? It’s not uncommon for businesses to send out promotional products to reviewers. The cost of the product is often cheaper than the sales generated by the reviewer and the trust the public puts in the reviewer is priceless.

  • Still not a fan of the Personas look from all the reviews ive seen but they werent good in the demo videos either. B/C work generally. eyesight must be drastically better or be removed. The headset needs to get lighter and include some minimal battery to allow for larger battery changes, as well as of course much better wifi/BT and maybe even 5g/5 advanced/6g someday. The app selection will get better soon hopefully.
