Ali Abdelaziz, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s trainer, sits down with Brett Okamoto to discuss the bad blood between Khabib and Conor McGregor that boiled over at UFC 229 in Las Vegas. (0:11) Abdelaziz expresses his thoughts on the post-fight brawl between Khabib’s team and Conor’s team and how he believes there should be a suspension for both sides, but there still needs to be payment. Abdelaziz reacts to the comments McGregor made towards Khabib and his family, saying the remarks were “racist.” (3:57) In terms of a possible rematch between Khabib and McGregor, Abdelaziz explains that him and Khabib have “bigger fish to fry” and says if Conor continues to push for another bout, he will need to get “life insurance for $100 million.” (6:47) Adbelaziz details why Tony Ferguson is not next in line to fight Nurmagomedov and (9:56) in regards to a possible super fight between Khabib and Georges St-Pierre, Adbelaziz would like to see it happen and also thinks the fans would like it as well, but does not expect the UFC to make it happen especially not for the title. (11:47) With the rumors of a potential boxing match between Khabib and Floyd Mayweather Jr. swirling around, Adbelaziz does not think the chances are high it will happen and states that Khabib respects his UFC contract.

  • Cool fact for my fellow Muslims: Khabib Nurmagomedov is actually pronounced as Habib Nurmohamed-ov which is translated from Arabic in english as: Khabib = beloved NurMuhamed = light of Muhammed So his name means beloved the light of Muhammed. Pretty cool! Reminds me of Muhammed Ali as well and how both legends have the name "Muhammed" after our Prophet Pbuh. May Allah SWT bless them both and bring peace to every single human being and the ummah. Ameen. :)

Conor is not that type, he cares more about movement on the feet and striking, Anderson Silva is the same. to love mixed martial arts you have to love both the striking arts as well as the ground arts, even if it be one of either; Nate: Boxing and Jiu Jitsu Cain: Wrestling and Boxing George St. Pierre: Karate, Muay Thai, Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu Chris Weidman: Wrestling, Jiu Jitsu and Muay thai Jones: Muay Thai and Wrestling Aldo: Muay Thai and bjj Pettis: Capoeira, taekwondo and jiu jitsu the ones who focus too much on either ground or stand up; they eventually get ousted, no matter how good they are take these for example: Anderson Silva: good on his feet, avoided the ground always, once a legend, now he's now a gate-keeper Brock Lesnar: bulldozed opponents to the ground and pounded them to ko/tko, once heavyweight king (people will contest me on this now, but if you were following closely around 10years ago you'd know) now a has-been Maia: did too little work on his feet to be confident in any fight with a half decent striker, messed up too many title fights, now a gate-keeper Chris Leben: (who remembers this guy?) crazy chin always swinging for the fences with aggression, at the end he was just a gatekeeper Gray Maynard: was destined to become champ with his grappling, now also a gatekeeper, he fought on the undercard the other night, people would never say he was top 5 for years
