Wilbur's finale dragged me back here and I'm so happy it did, it's so good

What I like about this take on Ozymandias is that traditionally, the poem symbolizes the how the passage of time trumps even the "king of kings". With this version, and Wilbur specifically referring to L'manberg, I feel the meaning has shifted. The lone and level sands no longer stretch far away in spite of Ozymandias, the lone and level sands stretch far away because of Ozymandias, and ye mighty had better look on that work and despair.
I like this take on it too

I love how, instead of a high energy animation, Doomsday is just somber. Because it wasn't a battle, it was just the long anticipated execution.

Its not a war nor fight, its a massacre

I have to study it for literature too I hope My Last Duchess comes up in the paper 2 exam, so that I can link Ozymandias to it
This animation now simbolizes wilburs glory in the past, were we all thought he was our "hero", to the cruel present, all joy is gone and he became the villian of his own history
i can’t believe i looked up to such an asshole of a person.
Actually I'd argue this animation has nothing to do will him being a hero, give it another listen and pay attention, how he is described, the music, the "Look on my works ye mighty and despair". This video is no way is trying to paint him a hero lol. I like your viewpoint though!

Oh... my... gosh.... he did not reference this poem. I learned about the poem in school and I had forgotten what the theme was but PRIMUS THIS WAS GOOD
That line in the poem shows the King’s ego, hubris and pride. What’s important is the following line, that nothing remains. The poem is illustrating how time buries pride, how every society will inevitably collapse, how every empire inevitably falls. How this Symphony will remain forever unfinished
@@VikkiVibe I believe Wilbur actually read this poem to Fundy. And mentioned it to Tommy. Compared himself with the king, and told Tommy how he thinks he might actually understand him. So yes, Wilbur did way more than a reference to this poem.

I really love the detail of how, in Sad-ist’s animatics, even in moments where Wilbur is drawn to be antagonistic or menacing, his eyes are still shown with what seems to be some deep weary and sorrowful sense. It really gives the depiction of Wilbur both taking this antagonist role, but also being a man who’s lost everything, including his hope, and fell into the pits of despair.
pls i though that said agnostic and i was so confused
That's a really good analogy, well said

I love the "King of Kings" part where Wilbur's revolutionary hat, Eret's crown, Schlatt's horns, and Dream's smile flashes on the screen. All of which were the symbols of rulers on the SMP who believed their reign would last forever, only to have their power taken from them. In the end, their dreams of domination over the SMP were never meant to be.

This is something that I feel like Techno would really love. Not to assume anything, but looking at evil characters and putting poetry to it just seems like something an English major would nerd out about. I’m not an English major, but as someone who’s really into character and story analysis, this video was just so cool to me
As someone who is an English major, this is by far my favorite SAD-ist animation. Not the all the others aren’t great. But this one captures the all the characters perfectly in even smaller snapshots. Each line of the poem and the heart beat were excellently timed. By far, I will never NOT get chills when I see the scene when he said “My name is Ozymandias, King of kings”. Everything about that sort was perfect. I don’t know if techno will like it, but this definitely scratchs that English itch for me.

I would actually interpret in this very specific context, Ozymandius isn't the creator of the land he is the embodiment of it's destroyers, wildbur (who has his trench coat), Philza , Techno, and Dream. Their work is not the building that are now gone their work is making those grand building dissappear from history.
@@judesanderson4699 that’s actually really interesting how the poem highlights their role in the destruction of the very things they sought to create. Their true calling I guess was in destruction and chaos, not in creation.

this hits different after wilbur’s s1 finale
Season 1 finale was November 16th. I think you're referring to Wilbur's dream smp finale. The season breakdown is - Everything before November 16th and the revolution was s1. Then wilbur left as writer and ranboo and dream took over until the final disc confrontation, and season 2 ended with wilbur speaking to tommy beyond the grave. And then we've basically been in season 3 for like 1.5 years since then because all the lore ended or went at a snails pace.
The depiction of Doomsday has actually given me chills. Phil with his damaged wing watching the TNT rain down, Dream on top of the obsidian grid looking over the damage that they were causing. I met a traveller from an antique land, Who said-“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; And on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
