    • Yeah, basketball here doesn't have a musical element, and the pyrotechnics would never happen. The fire marshall would be like...."Come with me sir." I think the difference is Euro soccer, more alcohol and the centuries old hatred between the cities and countries. lol. Football here has more of those elements but still not that much. It makes a difference when the City is the identity, not necessarily the team. Our cities aren't old enough and have had too much change/growth/ new people moving in and others leaving.

In Euroleague games fans always cheer like this so nobody can hear the Euroleague anthem. Another fact is that in Europe official fan clubs have a word to say when it comes to club´s structure. But the most important fact is that in Europe the club means everything to the fans. We don´t watch the games just to be seen, we watch the games because we love the club and in a lot of cases the love for the club is passed from parents to their children

    • Because there is a lot of history in Europe, it transcends sports. Wars, conflicts, uprisings, riots, territories, politics and even religion it's all part of the sport. So you grow passion, love and hatred from your childhood. Sports aren't just sports in Europe and SA, it's life. Let me give you an example. For instance the rivalry between Glasgow Rangers and Celtic in Scotland is rooted in a divide of views in politics, religion and their relationship with Ireland. Or with let's say Liverpool FC, they strongly dislike the Monarchy...or SS Lazio from Italy were/are Nazis. Barcelona want autonomy whereas Madrid/Spain are a monarchy etc. It's like that across all of Europe, not to mention the wars in the past. Clubs hate each other even if they are from different countries...and friendships exist as well between cluba from different countries. Amd it is passed down from generation to generation. Also what will help the US is to integrate a relegation/promotion system in sports, that way the stakes are high each year and you will see passion from the fans AND players will hundredfold.
