Winding yourself is no joke. On top of that, he hit his back. I've done something similar when I was skateboarding. Can't speak, can barely move. It's awful. That grunting noise james was making, from my experience, is uncontrollable. It's absolutely awful

I do like that when James fell off the horse, you actually hear genuine concern in Richard's voice.
Patton Kesselring they say they hate each other all they want, but deep down they're like family. If family wanted to legitimately kill you a few times, went with you across multiple countries to do random stuff in an assortment of cars

Both of Hammond's big crashes are absolutely horrifying to watch back no matter how many times you've seen it.
To be fair, in both of those crashes, if it had either of the other two, there would have been memorial episodes with Sarah McLaughlin playing... Not because they'd be sad, but to piss off the late host.
If see watch some of Hammond's old episodes you might feel that he has gotten significantly less sprightly and cheerful over the years, and understanably so. Poor Hamster.
@@Alkaloid-Odin Very true, but having a near death experience in a 10,000 HP will do that, so it makes sense. Hammond stated that there was fear of brain damage, but I would suspect that his emotional control center has been thrown out of whack since that incident.
@@ZeroCrystal hell if you read his autobiography while he was in hospital, his brain basically needed to grow up again and even after he recovered his wife knew that he had changed since the whole ordeal. He was still Richard Hammond but different somehow

@@tuubas2 Yeah I know. Thinking about that sort of stuff puts how fragile we really are into perspective. I actually had a similar experience once when I was a boy fooling around with my friends and even though you don't see tonnes of blood and stuff like in the movies, head injuries like that are really serious.

Yeah that's probably the worst one I reckon. That could have been life ending quite easily.
Especially when he showed visible confusion and memory loss, that's the telltale signs of a brain injury.
I try may just be old age, but some of his more recent videos, he has a twitch, but it’s the exact same every time
I love how when they actually, properly get hurt, they drop the act and go over them with genuine worry and concern. It's heartwarming in a special way since they usually take the piss out of each other

Some of those injuries were quite serious; especially the one where James was holding the tow rope. He hit his head hard, you could see him go unconscious-- and well, Richard is just lucky to be alive with his two major crashes.
