I am amazed. These guys are so genereous. They took some of their precious time to help a human being to build a future.
Obviously they charged him for the consultation. But I agree they went above and beyond
This is their youtube channel, they are using a reporter-styled interview process to tell their story and discuss their business processes .. There is nothing special about this .. more clicks\views and subs the more $$ they make! It is a good watch tho and can help (answer) questions for upcoming detailing businesses ..
@@startingtech3900 where do you get that? "obviously" my ass, they actually say in the beginning that they did not. The guy was kind of a dick asking the same shit over and over again
@@31acruz he was a dumb dumb. Who starts an auto detailing out of his garage in his late 50s w a very small budget and doing the work himself. Seems odd
Thanks angel
Anything is possible if you want it, go get it. I fit all of my equipment in my Toyota Camry...
I know that for a fact ! I fit all my stuff in my Honda Civic and still bring in 500$-700$ part time work after my real job. My plan is to turn full time and work for myself! Good luck to you !
Did the same thing but it was just too much time to take everything. Just bought a truck and trailer today.
It's funny lol I got 2 26 gallon water tanks, and pressure washer all in the back of my 2014 Toyota Camry
I been doing it out a 2007 Honda Accord it got to that point hopefully can get the van im looking for
Me too my 2015 Camry but I just purchase a 2008 Scion xB way more room once you fold down the seats.
I keep watching this video as motivation. I started my own detailing business this April 2021 and I’m not looking back. The amount of inquiries and booking is just off the charts! And i’m only doing this part time with 2-3 vehicles per week. Working a full-time job on top of this is more challenging but hey, Time Management and building customer relationships are the key 👌🏽
Did you have prior detailing experience before starting your own business?
You are showing me its actually possible, doing full time job and a side hustle
@@Brian-dj3ru no prior experience but i would detail my family’s cars and they were impressed with my skills and dedication so that pushed me to open my business.
@@samuelmakuyana53 yes brotha its possible. Time management is key. Anyone can do it
@@EPICWILDETAILING this is amazing bro Can I reach out to you to ask some questions? I’m about to get started and I would love to pick your brain and just get some knowledge on this plssssssss
Chicago Auto Pros is my biggest inspiration, i hope to one day own a detail shop, and to be able to grow it like you guys have, this is my biggest goal in life🙏 thank you for sharing your tips with us.
You're welcome Jesus. Keep working hard man and you can make anything happen.
Of all the CAP videos ive watched over the years, this one was the most valuable. Thank you for posting this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I've been doing mobile details (mostly wash wax and interior) for a few years now with a friend and I've found that when it comes to equipment you can keep it simple. if you have a garage with good power supply you can run bigger air compressors, power washers, and vacuums when you go mobile unless you have a way to generate your own power you have to run smaller equipment, at least air compressors and power washers or use gas powered (which I hate because they are noisy) I have finally found a decent power washer with auto start/stop for less than $200 that actually has decent output and plugs into any 120v outlet without tripping breakers, you never know what poeple have plugged into the circuit you need to use and how old or weak the breaker is, running an big enough air compressor (for a tornador) on an extension cord never works well, and the mighty vac steam unit can be a bugger when the heater, vac,and pump are all on. so you can downsize and just use water from a house, and a vacuum, and keep it simple which I have also done the other option is to have a generator. I spent a considerable amount of time shopping for one, most are loud, I wanted a honda inverter generator, fairly quiet and fuel efficient, but $$$$$, what I found instead was an old unit honda made called the EX5500, it is super quiet, and liquid cooled with a radiator and electric start, perfect for being runn in a hot van in the summer, ( they are rare but less than $1000) I vent the exhaust out the door, and and wired outlets in my setup for all my equipment to be plugged into at all times, all the hoses, pressure and supply and air, and cords are all on retractable reels accessible from the back, the generator can easily run a 220v air compressor big enough to supply tools like tornadors, smaller 120v air compressor could not keep up, and ones large enough had to be taken in and out of the van to be plugged in direct and were so loud find the quietest vacuum and compressors you can, old loud shop vacs we dont use anymore, no more gas power washers( to finicky with carbs and gas), its so much nicer and less obnoxious to your customer and their neighbors, we detail on weekends and nobody wants to hear a screaming jet powered shop vac or a loud clanky power washer on sunday morning I keep a table in the van and a few organized baskets and bins that go on the table that hold all the tools, chemicals and rags. And we always carry a rolling chest with a gallon of each chemical, empty spray bottles, and a funnel. wash buckets, triple the rags we normally use on one car, and enough heavy duty non kink water hose to get to the far away spigots, a few extension cords all on reels and jumper cables and a jump pack. But like I said you can make do with much less complication and now I have people bringing cars to me and do them in my driveway at my leisure. the van still has all the tools in case I get a mobile appointment, but its not my main gig, I run a small farm most days and work from home mostly, so I can wash cars almost anytime in between other projects and my partner in the business details at a dealership all week, so its nothing super serious but it could be very easily if my other business dried up
My gosh the smile on your guys face when he says he will get 10 cars under my belt before taking on bigger jobs is priceless lol. This is the best video ever!
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on the business of detailing. Thank you for being so open and honest. Your professionalism is amazing.
It’s crazy hearing the numbers here, i’ve been detailing for 2 months and have made 1,000 net profit. And you guys are making $500 or more a day easily
Eat gets easier bro! I promise you. I was the same way. The other week Imade $2000+. Whatever you do DON'T GIVE UP!
life is a journey my man, give it time to bud, put your full 110% effort into it, and watch it progress.
You can work smarter not harder, with high overheads that ratio of cars cleaned need to be proportionate to support paying staff plus costs 50 cars a week takes some finding. 🇬🇧

Gentlemen, thank you for putting this video together. I've been washing, detailing cars since I was 12 years old. Now I'm 60 and getting close to retirement. In order to keep busy and active, I'm seriously contemplating opening my own detailing business from my home. I already have all the equipment I need which I've acquired over the years. My goal is to do what I enjoy, even if its only one car a week. The garage is my sanctuary on weekends. Thank you for sharing the footage. The gentleman who is interested in starting his own business had excellent questions. Thanks again for sharing, this was hugely helpful. I'm a firm believer in "you do good", "good will come back to you". You guys have done real good. Congratulations on your success. May your business continue to grow..........profitably. All the best.
I own a mobile company in Arizona and everything these guys are saying is true... Very genuine and straight to the point, great video!
How much did you spend to set up your business?
love your videos, i've had my detailing shop for 16 years, started with dealers and worked 18 hours a day for the first year and half, now i work 10 hours a day, have no dealers as customers and make twice the money and i'm booked for 2-3 weeks in advance
Keep going!
Love checking out the info, you guys are informative and entertaining .
This is amazing information. Greatly appreciate you uploading this for us.
Why am I now, just watching this video?!?! Dropping that knowledge on running a shop! I'll be listening to this video once a day until get the keys to my shop in two weeks!

like your visitor stated, this was awesome guys!! Thank You !!
Fantastic video! I appreciate Jason advice on the insurance part of things. I’m getting started with home based or Our Garage based auto detail and that is the first thing I have been trying to figure out! Loved this video, will watch a second time to catch anything I missed
I'm actually planning to having my own detailing shop. services ranging from basic carwash, to full paint detailing, interior detailing and so on and so forth. I'm into cost analysis and pricing strategy now. Hope to be successful like you guys. Keep up the good work.
Good luck man
You guys are legends - thanks for video and your willingness to pass on your secrets
Absolutely awesome video. I am a 21 year pharmaceutical sales professional and I detailed cars as a kid while in college. During Covid, I started watching detailing videos and I started buying Rupes buffers and all kinds of detailing products. I am already at a point where I could ceramic coat every weekend. Anywho, great video and my wheels are turning.
I really love the way that you guys are running this business. Btw, the content came from this video that inspired me alot in this detailing industry. All love to Chicago.
Great info and motivation. Starting my own mobile business
Your premises and work is stunning with such a skilful team, very impressive.
Thank you guys. I have been doing mobile for two years and i want to move to a shop in two years. A lot of good ideas and I love the quote "Your not my customer if you dont walk backwards."
Very interesting video and I feel how cool it was of these guys, owners of a decent sized shop to take the time to have a sit down interview with someone trying to get a business going. Very informative, and Honest Video here. Thank You 👍😎
Thank you guys for positing this video! Very informative
Detailing business 101! Just watching a lot of your videos and truly awesome and informational stuff. In the process of launching my own mobile detailing business in NJ and drawing inspiration from your videos. Thank you and Keep up the good work!

Thank you, very nice to hear it from the Pro's
Loved the video very very informative great job guys..
Great content. Worth my time. Thanks for doing this!
great info for more than just car detailing business. Even though I started out with detailing my own cars, then family, then friends, then neighbors, then their friends, this is such good information to what will happen if I want to go the next step. This is not my business as I'm a full time Building Information Modeling Manager. It's my hobby. This is awesome information. This is a hobby that pays for the hobby.
Great video. Thank you. Subscribed
This was really insightful thanks guys
I rank this video as serious real business talk. Great conversation about the pros and cons to running not just a automotive detail business but any business itself. If you can’t budget, market, negotiate and sale your going to have a very small amount of business an a shorter time and history as business owner.
Thank you for all of those advices.
I have always said, dealership work will pay the overhead. public clientele will make u ur money!! great video
Wow, I'm mindblown. Thanks for sharing this in so many ways!
Glad you enjoyed it!
All I can say is THANK YOU! guys, really appreciate I a video like this
Glad you enjoyed it!
Verry good info in this interview. Thanks guys! I live in France and I’m thinking of starting a car detailing business here.
Phenomenal... thank you so much for the insight. Subscriber for life. It really means something when you don’t forget where you come from.
Good video, you guys talked about a lot of stuff I deal with now and or had dealt with. Appreciate the videos Jason . I started out MOBILE DETAILING 2 1/2 years ago now I have a shop its definitely a learning process for me now . That's my main thing QUALITY OVER EVERYTHING. Word of mouth is key . And DETAILING AINT FOR EVERYONE. THANKS.....
My parents started their detailing business back in 01 have built up a very good reputation i started in our shop my 6th grade summer and have been going at it since then. I have a true passion for this industry and now being co owner with my father, learning the marketing side and new technology and techniques I'm looking forward to advancing our business even more. I watch a video a day sometimes a couple from you guys to keep my mind fresh and learning daily! Thank you for the honesty and time you take to make these videos!
It's so funny for me, in this week, my school it's sitting with, start your own company, and so on, and i have of course chosen a detailing company. So this it's already really helpfull for my task. Thank you very much, and thanks for the great videos :D
What did you comment??? It seemed like English, but I’m not sure
I knew most of this but it gave me the reassurance I've been looking for. I literally made some business cards a few wks ago & I wasn't even intending on doing this full time, but I did a magazine shoot prep on a Grabber Blue right hand drive civic for my brother & a 64 Impala low-low for a friend & just those posts on Instagram & Fb have spread like wildfire & booked me 7 days a week due to the quality I've always been known for with engine builds. It's achievable of your goal is to impress each customer a lil more than the last & stand out from other detailers. This video was made by that same type of person, down to earth, not selfish & cares about quality & reputation. I'm glad I came across this!
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing.
Great informative video. Appreciate you making these vids showing the business side of things. Very very valuable information. Teaching has been the greatest advertisement I agree.
Thank you so much for taking us with you on this conversation. Watched the whole thing with pleasure
Glad you enjoyed it!
great video guys, thank you..
Guys were amazing. Open honest and friendly as ever glad to see there business is so successful. Appreciate the video I'm in the same boat as the gentleman asking the question. So was all good info to hear and absorb.
Great information in this video. Have you ever thought of doing a follow up on this guy? I live in Minnesota and currently detail out of my garage and have been for 10 years. Haven't really done much marketing other than word of mouth and only 3-4 cars a month which are mostly interior jobs (dislike interiors) but it is my bread and butter and seeing the customers reaction after the job is done is what keeps me doing it. Keep up the great work.
Great info, so much to absorb
Thanks for watching.
Excellent advice 💯👏
I dont know why people that don't know this business think it is easy to jump into. I paint and in a class a guy was starting his own body shop but never did it before and you just look at him and say what are you doing? Great content and so many great questions and answers. It was so good I think the guy should drop detailing and start a car podcast with you guys bc he had great questions and a great radio voice lol.
Awesome video for someone starting out! Very inspirational and alot of great advice and insight on how to get started. I really like how y’all touched on not needing a lot of money to get started. That’s one of the best things about trying to start a detail business vs some other business is the relatively low start up cost. I’m a beginner myself and just recently decided to dive in and buy equipment. I already had a shopvac and air compressor so not counting that, I have around $1500 invested so far. I have enough equipment and chemicals to do anything from a simple wash and interior detail, to a paint correction and full disaster detail. I really enjoy the videos guys, thanks for helping me learn along the way!
Thanks for watching. Check for our detailing classes in January, it is absolutely worth EVERY penny.
Those 51 minutes went by quickly. Learned a lot . Some advice i even figured it out although there is more questions/concerns I have business wise that I wish I could asked you about. But other than that I love learning loee about how to run the detail business and keep getting work. Doing the detailing and learning as well is another interest I like to do. But business and running it is coming to me more natural. I just need advice on what I should do
Great advice as always 👍
Good discussion, good video.
