Review: The Truth About The Steelseries Aerox 3 Wireless (2022)

If you’ve been around for a while it is no secret that I don’t like SteelSeries as a brand. As I find their marketing to be predatory and their products to be subpar despite being at premium price points. But this guy has blown my mind going completely against the norm. The first Aerox 3 Wireless was well received but had some serious flaws which they have rectified with the 2022 Edition. So, let’s get nerdy.

    • Lol, fair enough. I will say in the past two years though their products (mice and keyboards not the rest) have dramatically improved and are making some of the best products on the market. Also, I don’t find most of their marketing to be predatory. But that premium price point is definitely true and is usually what ruins it. Their website is also atrocious.

    • @@m4rcin847 Depends on which peripherals you're talking about. As I think each of them does certain categories better. But in general the last 3 - 4 years Razer has really been impressing me with what they are coming out with and the quality. Corsair is a lot like Steel Series. Where their products look attractive and are reasonably well put together. But performance suffers. Where Razer their specs are great so they perform awesome (which is my main metric), and sometimes their stuff can look attractive (but usually super gamery), but they vary a bit on overall build quality. Not necessarily being cheap but not being robust either. Then you have Logitech who are kind of mix of the above who have excellent shapes and comfort with above average performance but tend to be very expensive. And bland as they haven't upgraded anything since like 2018. Then you go into other, less well known brands. Zowie for mice seem to have amazing shapes and firmware. Roccat tends to sneak in there with great shapes, above average specs, but kind of sink behind in other specs keeping them more in the middle. Xtrfy in general tends to impress me quite a bit for mice. The M4 and M42 are amazing. I enjoy the MZ1 a lot. I'm sure there are others. But like I said it really comes down to are you talking strickly mice? Or are you talking keyboards, headsets, etc.

  • I'm a big fan of the Aerox 3. I have a bunch of them, including a few that have the black rounded skates. I didn't mind those, actually. Maybe I got good batches. The clicks on my wireless ghost and my black wireless have kinda mushy/creaky clicks but the wired Aerox 3 I just purchased has incredible, crispy clicks but the older black round skates. I'm not that wild about the sharp side buttons, but they're functional. The scroll wheel can get kind of loud and janky when scrolling fast, but it's alright. The shape is great and sort of reminds me of my old beloved Microsoft WMO that I mained for 10 years, with some subtle differences. Great review!

    • That's interesting. Maybe I just got lucky with my clicks because I definitely don't have any mushy/creaky clicks. Same with my scroll wheel, it's nearly silent no matter how fast I'm going. • A while ago I upgraded from a Corsair M55 Pro to the G Pro Superlight. Although the Superlight is superior mechanically, it has never felt comfortable for the hybrid palm/claw grip that feels natural to me. After being sick of fighting the Superlight, I ordered the Aerox 3. This mouse has the butt that’s higher towards the rear, fitting nicely into the palm, and an inline taper on the sides to force a claw style with the thumb and pinky. I also found that this is by far the most competitive wireless mouse of this specific shape in terms of hardware components.

    • hey same, was really set on getting the superlight or the pulsar x lite mini v2 but was lucky enough to try this at the stores. And i was pleasantly surprise how the Aerox 3 felt on my hand and grip style which is exactly yours, a palm/claw hybrid, Who knew the fat ass of the Aerox 3 was the answer! The x lite mini v2 would have been idea, smaller lighter wireless EC2-B basically, with its butt fat & high up too but the overall mouse length is too short, so there's no space and place where my 'palm' can really rest.. sad.. Superlight is the dream for most, the profile is 'the' universal mouse shape & an almost logitech patented classic, but I have overall small hands, so at the top of the superlight where the buttons are, has identical breadth to the butt, which means I can't grip as well with my fingers up-top -this very point @thomas mentioned in his video as it is narrower at the top on the Aerox 3, it allows for the grip with the fingers by the side . so all in all, pleasantly surprise that this mouse that does not get a lot of attention on youtube was the best I found.. for our grip style by far, and as per you last line, about the best wireless u can get for hardware. but most importantly, comfort gives confidence!

To answer your question this mouse does come with some coating to help prevent that. As do others. I don't keep track of them off the top of my head. @rodzynek561@rodzynek561 Жыл бұрын
    • Personally, I find the logitech G Pro wireless to be superior, and one of the best mice on the market. So that would be my recommendation, even if it cost a bit more. As I consider it an endgame mouse. Whereas the Aerox 3 is still a good mouse, especially if you can find it on sale for around $50. However, I do not consider it an endgame mouse, but more of a middle tier mouse that performs well when on sale for that price. But would not consider it in the same class as the G Pro Wireless. Also, depending on price, I would look into the Logitech G Pro X Superlight, the Razer V2 Pro, or the newly released Razer Deathadder v3 Pro. All extremely expensive when not on sale. But you also wont find better. And buying one mouse now and using fir years can be cheaper than buying multiple mice over that same time span. Regardless on what you choose. I dont think you can make a bad choice. Id love to hear which one you go with and thoughts on it.

    • The Aerox 3 Wireless* is 10 grams heavier at 68 grams. The Aerox 3 Wireless has a better sensor that is slightly more accurate. But otherwise I believe they are the same. The wireless also goes on sale on a regular basis. For example at Best Buy and Amazon right now it is $49.99 over $99.99. For the Wired one it is $29.99 compared to $59.99. Making it so if you buy the wireless version right now you are technically saving $10 off the retail price of the Wired one. Personally, I think going for the wireless one is worth the extra money and the one I would go with. If you happen to buy it off Amazon (and you should go with whatever is best and easiest for you) I would love if you used on of my Amazon Associates links where I get a small commission at no extra cost to you. I'd love to hear whichever one you chose and your thoughts on it.

    • @@ThomasMuehler Excuse me, but isn't the wired version only 59 grams? That's what I see everywhere I check. Also, if the differences from the wired version to the wireless version are that minimal, I would rather pick the wired version, taking into account the prices that I'm finding right now (in euros). In Spanish Amazon the wireless version is 69,99€ (and in electronic shops like Worten and FNAC is even more expensive than that) and the wired version is 39,99€, and I don't want to spend more than 50€ for a mouse. Of course, if I had a bigger budget I would pick the wireless version, but I think I will be happy with the wired version. I have two more questions, though. I'm not really familiar with mice sizes, the only thing I can tell is that my hand size is 8 inches length (which is considered small, I guess). Will the Aerox 3 wired version be a nice fit to my hand size? (I use a mixture of palm and claw grip btw) The other question I have is, comparing the Aerox 3 wired version to the Razer Deathadder Essential (which is 20 euros cheaper), which mice would you recommend the most?

      @danioliveira01_@danioliveira01_ Жыл бұрын
    • @@danioliveira01_ You are correct the Wired version is 58 grams and the wireless is 68 grams. I said that incorrectly above but edited it so it is now correct. I also think the sensor improvement is a critical upgrade. As is the wireless component so think that the wireless is certainly worth the extra money. But you also need to stay in your budget to make the right choice. Personally, I'd save up and wait for a sale as I think it is worthy of the money and think it will last longer and save money in the long run. But again, that completely comes down to you and what you find important and what you can/can't do financially. I'm not quite sure how you measured your hand (length or circumference) but I've got about 7.5x4 inch hands which always fit "large gloves". The size of a mouse really comes down to personal preference. But "Rocket Jump Ninja" has a good breakdown on his website on a "science" he has come up with on what fits best. I think it may be a bit too small for palm. But would fit claw really well. As for comparing it to the Deathadder Essential. Two very different mice. I think sensor wise (assuming this is in comparison to the Aerox 3 Wired) they are going to be similar (the wireless variant is going to be quite a bit better). The shape is also going to be a huge difference. As the Deathadder is made for palm grip, and claw sorta kinda works but really directly just palm. Where the Aerox is going to be more for fingertip/claw and depending on hand size palm may work. Then you've got weight which is huge at 96 grams for the Deathadder and 58 grams for the Aerox. You will for sure notice this. I find that lighter is better personally for accuracy so would give the win to the Aerox. Click lifespan is going to be similar. I would hazard a guess that the Aerox will have more satisfying crisp clicks over the Deathadder. But I can't confirm that as I have the Deathadder V2 Pro which uses different switches and won't feel the same but like my Aerox clicks better than my Deathadder. As the Deathadder isn't as crisp but a lot more quiet. Side buttons are better on the Deathadder. I don't know about the cords which can play a big part so may want to look at some reviews as if the cable is really stiff that can make a big difference. Overall, I think both are good options. I like Razer as a brand a lot better than Steelseries. But that isn't worth a whole lot. I would love to hear which one you go with and your thoughts on it.

    • Welcome to the family Awais Khan. I'm very happy you are here. The Viper Mini has an excellent shape and is one of my favorites. A lot of people are in the same boat too. I just don't like the cord, and think the specs (mostly sensor) are average, which I think holds it back for a lot of others as well. Which is why I'm excited for the release of the Viper Mini Ultimate (or Pro) or whatever they will call it. Which was supposed to have happened this year but due to something it will be next year and hopefully in Quarter 1. But it will be coming with all the bells and whistles so expect to pay top price for it. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this guy once you try it out. Seeing as a lot of other mice haven't suited you well.

By looking at your review i had no doubts that i should at least get my hands on this mice... and i had collected enough information and the whole pros and cons about this mice, the issue occurs when i tried to order that mice, which for some reason costing me around $130 for the worldwide shipping, sadly couldn't find it around my place.. • @@awaiskhan6981 I know you're ready to upgrade so asking you to wait is tough. But this mouse retails for $100 but often goes on sale for $50. I'd recommend waiting for a sale and then getting it then. I've heard great things about Pulsar, but haven't tried them personally. Meaning I can't tell you anything else about them. I have a Starlight-12 TenZ (along with the other ones). Honestly, the TenZ is the best of them all in multiple areas. I really enjoy using it. If you get a flawless copy it's an S-Tier mouse. The issue is all the baggage that comes along with it. Such as you getting a flawless copy is unlikely as they are littered with horrific quality assurance. I've heard better things about the TenZ having less issues. But since you can only get it through the secondhand market makes it nearly impossible for me to recommend. As $189 retail is already too steep. It should be $130 - $150 based on performance. But Finalmouse is Finalmouse. $280 is way to steep for me to justify. Especially, with you being so picky with mice I'd be worried that if you don't like it that is a lot of money wasted. I think Finalmouse does pretty good with warranty (assuming you can actually get in contact with someone). But depending on where you live Warranties may or may not be viable. I think you'd enjoy the size as the small is going to be similar size as the Viper Mini. Where the medium is going to be slightly larger (which you said with the mini might be perfect). I've enjoyed my Starlights a lot and I've had one of them on my desk since I got it. But it regularly and often gets put off to the side for my Razer mice. And only comes out to play when I feel like it and when that happens I have a great time with it. I recently got the Lamzu Atlantis. Excellent mouse. The only mouse I've tried where I had to get used to the shape. Still not the biggest fan of it. But it is going to have a similar shape to this one. Along with the G305. Kind of a combination between this, the Razer Viper, and the Logitech G305. It is kind of interesting. Also, excellent specs and performance. Looks good. But is a medium/large mouse. Outside of those, I'm blanking on any other great recommendations that you haven't already tried. The more I think about it I'm almost leaning Starlight for you. Lightweight, solid shape, great performance, similar to the Viper Mini in size and kind of shape but flat like the Viper on the rear. But that price point is just too painful and is a HUGE HUGE HUGE gamble. Not only for QA (more likely to say yes if you can get warranty in case something did go wrong with it) but also just how picky you are (which isn't me roasting you. knowing what you want is a good thing) I'm just terrified of you spending that money and then being disappointed. Then either needing to resell it or just take the hit.

    • Is there a particular surface that you are interested in it working on? Testing it on different surfaces isn't part of my testing just because my use case is on a mousepad in general. Also, most gaming sensors will track on just about anything. The top-of-the-line sensors like the Focus+ and Focus Pro from Razer even track on glass. But this is a lower end one but I think for the majority of surfaces it would work just fine. But I can test it if I have the surface you are looking for.

Overall I like this mouse, the things I'm not happy are the lateral buttoms they are too inside of the shell. The on/off button is not confortable and scraches my couch (not the mousepad) and it is too small you need both hands to switch it on/off or change to bluetooth/wifi. But the real problem is that the couse radio interferences with my RGB lights (LIFX Beam and LIFX Z). So due to this problem I will to return it. While it still may be one of those things found that for some reason the dongle is picking up interference where the signal quality is dropping out and briefly losing connection. Moving my dongle position paired with a different wire has helped reduce interference and it kind of stopped happening. But I don't have the issue with other mice so again, not sure if it is actually defective and probably will reach out to finalmouse about mine. And you should probably contact Steelseries for yours. • Is the wired any better? I personally will never use wireless mice outside of laptop/portable convenience The main issues I hear about when it comes to the Aerox 3 2022 Edition are its wireless features and that's about it, but nobody answers the important questions.. Is it hard to clean? Will dust getting inside the mouse be an issue? Is the USB C cable very light that movement or potential cord snagging won't bend or break the mouse's USB C port? Is the mouse too small? Is the reliability/durability good? I currently have a G502 Proteus from way back in 2016 and the double click issue is getting pretty bad on both Right and Left click. I think it's time for an upgrade and you did a decent job selling me on this mouse lol. It's currently 40% off on Amazon ($35)

    • At this point if you buy a quality wireless gaming mouse they actually outperform most wired gaming mice. As for your questions. Most of those aren't answered as for those who use gaming mice regularly and have a lot of knowledge about them already have the answer. But it appears to me you are new to the scene so just don't know what you don't know. You learn by asking questions and I'm glad you are asking them. So, this isn't me calling you out. Just saying that important questions to you might not always be important questions to other people. As you're the first person who has ever asked me most of these. And that includes me deep diving forum posts as well. 1. Clean: I guess that depends on how dirty of a person you are. I haven't needed to really clean any of my mice ever. Outside of the sides very minimally from just build up of sweat/grime over years and years of use. Which can be done easily with a toothbrush. Most of these mice can be taken apart rather easily too where you could clean form the inside out. But usually requires you to remove PTFE feet and then buy a new pair if you ruin them taking them off which is easy to do. Instead you could use compressed air to clear most of it without needing to open it up. Water tends to be the only thing (along with severe heat) that will damage electronics. But usually they come with a water resistant and dust resistant coating to prevent minor spill. Some mice even have fully on IPX ratings and can be submerged (granted that is only one of them that I've ever seen). But most people won't and should be using electronics near bodies of water. 2. Dust: Dust and grime mentioned above won't be an issue. They have a coating on the insides of the components to keep them safe. Additionally, a lot of electronics will have dust/hair/debris build up in time. Huge amounts could lead to something bad (usually in PC's it is increased thermals due to fans not rotating or air not moving well due to blockage) which isn't a concern for mice. But again the amount of dust and debris would have to be completely outside of reasonable to even be considered to be an issue. Most people also aren't moving their mouse in a dirty environment or have incredibly dirty hands that would make something disgusting anyways. 3. Cord snagging. No. Damage to the USB-C port would be exceedingly hard. Unless if you were to drop the mouse and it land perfectly on that port with a cable plugged in would be the only way I could see that happening. And even then with how much mice weight on average is probably not enough to cause damage anyways. As the USB-C Port has metal and reinforcement already. While having even more reinforcement from the plastic body around it. The cord itself also tends to have extra protection and rubber to prevent anything from happening. If you were moving the mouse around quickly and it got snagged most likely the cable itself would just bend causing nothing to happen or it would come out of your hand. Worst cast it would unplug the device. Additionally, most people don't use a wireless mouse wired unless it is charging which is only for about an hour (or they do it when not using the computer. So no matter how you cut it I don't see any reasonable way of damaging the port. You'd have to be doing something highly abnormal. 4. Size of mice and what is considered too small is highly subjective and can only be answered truly by the person using the mouse. Based on general consensus no, this mouse is not too small for most users. And I think it is technically considered a medium mouse. Some people hyper obsess about size. While others like myself tend to do just fine with all shapes and sizes so don't see the big deal. But again, that's subjective and varies from person to person. Zy (RocketJumpNinja) tends to heavily focus on size and hand shape/size on what the best mouse shape/size is for an individual. I'm more of a specs/performance guy. 5. Reliability: Most reviews don't touch this as they don't have a product for a long time before making the review. Also, you can't tell reliability until a significant amount of time passes. Last, sample size. I have a single unit out of how many sold? If I had 10 mice and they were all the same then probably good reliability. But who is going to buy a mouse that many times just to test reliability? But bias can also play into it if you google search it. As people who have problems will make a post. People who don't aren't going to post that their copy was fine. So, you tend to overestimate defects. Time and knowledge of following trends can give you a more objective answer. Usually if you can't find anything or very few things after a long period it is a reliable product. If you find a bunch of issues and low ratings then it is usually a crap product. Sometimes they mess up at the beginning then fix it in new models. As for this mouse I can't give you good enough information. As I haven't researched. I can subjectively say mine is still in perfect working condition. From the plethora of mice I've tried it seems higher quality than most. But I haven't used it non-stop since I bought it as I have a lot of other mice I try regularly and like more because they are better but cost a lot more. But from what I've seen and heard in my comment section reliability seems good for the price point as I have had very little if any people come in saying theirs is busted. Which isn't the case for some of my other products (Such as the Astro A10 Gen 2). But that is simply my opinion not a fact. You'd have to research yourself. For $35 assuming shape/size works for you I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better mouse at that price point. The only other one that comes to mind that is wired is the Razer Viper Mini. Which would win in some categories, but I think this is an overall better mouse than that one. Any other questions you've got? Or any clarification I can add?

    • @@ThomasMuehler 1. My hands are clean. I always wash my hands before I use my controllers or mice. But despite that, it's the cracks in the controllers.mice that build up dead skin which was my main concern. I also have a dusty room, but I'll mostly be putting a cloth or something over my mouse when I'm not using it. I'm a very clean, OCD person. I keep my things very well protected and managed, given the longevity of my current (and first ever) gaming mouse's lifespan (almost 7 years) 2. Well, as long as dust can be blown out or wiped off with ease. I don't have the proper tools to take something apart to clean it :c 3. That's good to know. I've had a lot of issues with USB-C ports being a little loose and sometimes disconnecting if it bends a tad bit too much. I was certain without a tunnel lock-in slot to protect the USB/Port from getting bent (like on my controllers and even my phone and tablet), that it'd loosen up or something. But now that I think about it, I won't be holding the mouse in my lap lol 4. I asked this, knowing how dumb the question was, bcuz a lot of people said it was small and it really does look small. I wish I was able to find out, but I'll have to find out the hard way when I buy the mouse. And since I'm so used to a heavy-ish mouse, since mine has weights in it, the thought of a hollow-looking mouse would also FEEL hollow and too light. I'll adjust anyways. I'm not rly picky outside of reliability 5. Also something I've considered, but it has been a while now so I figured there'd be something. I'm mostly looking for good performance with reliability and comfort and easy to clean/manage. Regardless, this is an upgrade from my, now faulty, mouse in pretty much every possible way. I also don't play MnK much at all these days, either. It's not comfy on a laptop. But I do often play Minecraft and got back into another FPS/TPS game, and I can't even hold my right click to ADS anymore, and I can't open a chest in MC without automatically picking up half a stack of something, and I can't even close out of a window without closing out of a bunch behind it smh For $35, I also think it's a REALLY good deal for this quality. I just wanna be sure it'll last as long as my first gaming mouse. I also try to avoid Razer, since errything I've ever heard about them was about how easy/often they break. I also got an Arctis headset and I don't want a bunch of other apps for a bunch of different products. I got tired of having G Hub, Corsair, and SS Engine. I just want errything in 1 engine app all synchronized I can't think of anymore questions. That might be all :p. I'll be buying the wired version anyways. Lot cheaper and I always prefer a direct connection to errything for the best possible quality. Especially with internet

    • @@cqllel5186 1. I can't guarantee how long a product will last, especially not 7 years. As a lot of that is lottery. This comes with mechanical switches which means they can develop the same issue as your current mouse. Which is why I tend to prefer optical switches as they are immune to that and last a lot longer due to less moving parts. As clicks tend to be the main thing that fails on a mouse. Then probably scroll wheel. With the other stuff happening more sooner due to just never being the way it should have been in the first place (such a sensor failure). 7 years is a long time. Especially, with daily use. But I think most of these given you are treating them with respect (like you do) should last a long time. As all of my tech products still work just fine. Even the ones that I've had for many years and most of them are in excellent condition. As I make sure that I'm not abusing them. 3. That's fair. I can see how with a controller that might happen as it is constantly pulling down on it. Where like you said with a mouse that tends to not be the case. And as long as you don't have the wire constantly rubbing on a sharp/textured surface or at a sharp angle it shouldn't fray or breakdown. 4. It wasn't a dumb question. Just a hard question to answer correctly. I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on it. I do think that it will take some time to get used to a new shape. But mostly I think the difference in weight is going to be something that takes the longest to get used to. As you're coming from a very heavy mouse to a semi-lightweight mouse. Since that is a new experience it will be jarring. Especially the first day. But I think in time you will find that you come to prefer the lightweight due to the advantages that it brings. As for build quality of shell I think you'll be surprised there as well. The only way I'd imagine you find any issues with it is by squeezing REALLY hard. And even then it comes down to how you're holding it and grip strength. 5. My opinion, I think this mouse checks the boxes for good performance, reliability, comfort, and easy to clean/manage. The only thing I'm on the fence about would be reliability. Just because I don't own a lot of SteelSeries products so don't know them well. But do know they are an extremely popular brand that I rarely hear negative things about. Your current mouse sounds frustrating. I also think if you're on a laptop you'd come to really enjoy wireless over wired. But I understand your hesitancy. Even if CERTAIN tech has gotten to the point where it can be faster, a wash, or worse case negligible. I highly recommend just doing some quick research on wireless from Logitech and Razer. As they are the best of the best in that regard (especially Razer). SteelSeries isn't a slouch either. But I think you'd be impressed with the performance of wireless gaming mice compared to wired. But you gotta do what is right for YOU. I also think having all the same products is nice from a software point of view. As having all those different ones installed and managing them to change stuff is a pain. As for Razer. I understand your hesitancy. As for a while they had a terrible track record for reliability. But in the past 3 - 4 years they've worked extremely hard in changing that. Currently they have the best mice on the market. All of my Razer products (for mice I have nearly all of them, multiple keyboards including an original BlackWidow keyboard) are all working like they were brand new and I've had zero issues with them. Plus they are the ones leading the charge with optical switches and from talking with their R&D team members they know their stuff and aren't cutting any corners. That I have a massive amount of respect for them. Which is also one of the reasons why they tend to be more expensive is they use higher quality components. But some of their stuff is ridiculously priced which is another conversation. Anyways, if you think of anything else let me know. I'm excited for you and wish you the best!

But other than those rare instances, I'd say the hours of daily use for many years have been gr8. Especially jitterclicking in old Minecraft, 1mil clicks per day lol. It'd suck if the Aerox didn't last as long tho 3. Another concern was with the cord. Erry cord I've ever used was stiff af. But from what I've seen, I think the Aerox cable looks very flexible. I use a giant mousepad on a smooth, clean desktop. If it still freys, there's nothing I can do about it. Idrc much, either. The cord isn't built in which was a main selling point for me. • Got the mouse earlier today! I was surprised how light it was. It was comfy right away. The cord is so soft and flexible compared to my others It feels a bit like a hollow plastic toy, but not entirely. The clicks are definitely louder The thumb buttons are so skinny, pressing them makes em feel mushy. And it's mushy bcuz they sink into my thumb meat. They feel like they'd break if I push em in a bit too hard. It's easier to bend thumb and press them with the tips. It's also difficult to determine which is the front or back button I'm gonna miss unlocking my scroll wheel and rolling it. I used that a lot The sensor is further back. It forces me to change the way I use a mouse and play games in general The cursor was also super sensitive. It was picking up erry little movement I made. With my DPI the same as on my last mouse, it felt a lot more jittery and shaky when I moved it around. I'm sure that's due to the weight of the mouse. Very light. I got used to it I've started using a finger tip grip. At first, my camera was a bit jittery, but I managed to adjust. Now, I'm playing RLY well in games The software was a bit confusing, but I got it all set up. I wish I could make 2 profiles with the same DPI but it won't let me. Using the DPI button to swap between 2 profiles, one with and without the lights. The lights are also bright, even at lowest setting The skates on the bottom feel like they're scratching my mousepad. But that might just be my pad

  • Just stumbled across this & noticed a trend with multiple reviews of the Aerox 3 not giving enough weight to the IP54 rating so want to chime in after owning one for 6 months. A lot of branded gaming mice can develop 'backwards scroll wheel issues' due to dust getting stuck on the encoder(look it up) a popular one to note is the logitech G403. The IP54 rating on the Aerox 3 is a HUUUUUGE selling point for anyone thats had scrollwheel issues over more than one mouse, dusty environments/open windows etc. I've had a g502, g403 & razer viper mini *ALL* develop scrolling issues within

    • Interesting point that I too think I've undervalued. I haven't ever had scroll wheel problems on my mice so haven't paid as close of attention to that detail due to that. But it does make sense. Alternative theory is that other mice still may put that coating on but just don't mention it. Which I do think I've heard before. As I don't know how big of a selling point that is for the mainstream market. Which leads me into some behind the scenes for reviewers. Of we (just like the mainstream brands) try and mention things that our viewers will find valuable. Which can be a difficult thing to do as balancing entertainment with nerdy stuff can be difficult and something I get wrong often. Sometimes we and I especially miss the mark or don't see the importance of something. So I do appreciate the callout and will definitely keep that in mind going forward.

    • Is this the Nick Simonton I know from High School?! I haven’t personally tried the Aerox 5 so I can’t tell you for sure. From looking at it I think it is overpriced for what you are getting. Shape looks like it could be hit or miss. In general the specs are fine but to me not top tier where the pricing is at. I’d recommend the Razer Viper Ultimate over it. As the specs are a lot better. Shape will be similar but you get more features, better specs, non-honeycomb design, similar weight and it is cheaper when on sale. I’ve been seeing it at like $75 - 80. If you are going to be spending $130 - $150 on a mouse I’d recommend the Razer Viper Ultimate, Razer Viper V2 Pro (I’d personally go with the V2 over the Viper Ultimate if they are the same price), Logitech G Pro Wireless or Logitech G Pro Superlight. As those are all tied for 1st place on the best gaming mice on the market. Also, depends on what you looking for in a mouse and what you are using it for.

    • @@quietstorm0165 Oh man that’s awesome. Thanks for checking out my channel. I’ve been doing good what about you? G502 is a great mouse. One of my favorites shape wise but it is extremely heavy (in comparison to the modern age superlights). Looks like you just picked a terrible time to look for mice. As I swear the Razer Viper Ultimate (RVU) has been on sale for like a month or two straight and I just checked and it isn’t any longer on Best Buy or Amazon. I’d definitely wait in that case until it goes on sale again as it will happen. If you are going to spend $150 the Viper V2 Pro is the best mouse on the market spec wise and is what I’m currently maining and will give your the biggest “advantage” in games assuming you like the shape. You’ll definitely notice the weight and may notice improved latency and sensor accuracy over the G502. But the HERO sensor is great. If the Aerox 3 shape works for you it is on sale right now for $50.99 at Best Buy which will get you 95% of the advantage you are looking for as the specs are on the higher end and they did a great job overall with it. The weight is the biggest difference you’ll feel over the G502. It’s also extremely similar to the Aerox 5 spec wise just a different shape and doesn’t have optical switches which isn’t a deal breaker in my opinion. And Tarkov is a wonderful game. One of my favorites. But man it is it brutal.

  • how can it be waterproofed with all inner components exposed?

    @EMI-ev2rp@EMI-ev2rp Жыл бұрын
    • The Aerox 3 is IP54 rated. Meaning that it can handle splashes of water but not full submersion. They do this by making sure the parts are sealed well (almost completely) along with using a special spray/coating that goes over everything to make a better seal and wick away water preventing water from coming into contact with the electricity that is running it. To explain a bit further (and this is a high level overview for demonstration purposes and shouldn't be tried at home). So, as long as water cannot access the electricity that is powering a device it cannot damage it. Motherboards and most electronic devices are usually sprayed with water while making them to keep them clean of debris. So, if an electronic device is powered off and gets soaked in water it won't necessarily destroy it (as there is no power running through it which is what causes a short and fries the parts). Assuming there is no damage to the device from the water (physically breaking something, corrosion, etc), and you dry it out fully (including all the little tiny spots you can't see or have access too which is often overlooked). The electronic device should be in perfect working condition when you power it on. As water itself does affect electronics like it does food (by melting it) and isn't dangerous in itself. But electricity mixed with water is what is dangerous. As usually the damage happens when the device is on and comes into contact with water causing a short. Or a wet device is powered on and the same thing happens. Fully waterproof devices then to be completely sealed (preventing water from even accessing the internal parts) and also sprayed with a chemical solution that helps pool water molecules together and try them quicker. Think water on a cloth material will soak it up compared to on rubber where it pools together.

  • I dislike honeycomb mice but it's really an attractive option compared to another one I like in Prime/Prime Mini Wireless with that price gap, and I really just want a Steelseries brand because I have an Arctis 9 Headphones and don't wanna bother with more software, unless I get a suggestion for a better mouse from competing brands. For some reason, in my area, the Onyx is $15 more than the Snow version which idk if it's the same everywhere or it's just more in-demand here so stores mark it up. Aside from all that, I'm pretty much a casual in terms of mice features so I didn't mind the negatives of it, and with the consumers in my country getting the short end of the stick, not being able to return purchased products unless defective, I really appreciate the reviews.

    @ariaakee@ariaakee Жыл бұрын
    • I haven’t heard of the prime. But the magnetic optical switches sound interesting. But seems overpriced to me off of the specs. I’m not sure why the Onyx is more expensive. I usually find the opposite with the white version being more expensive for products. But here in the US at Best Buy both the white and black versions are 50.99 (clearance). I know you said you don’t like honeycomb mice and don’t really want to download another software. But if you can find the Razer Viper Ultimate for $75 - $80 that will be the best bang for you buck. Premium specs for a great price. Shape can be hit or miss. You can download synapse to get settings and then not have it open every time (but RGB isn’t saved to the mouse because Razer is stupid).

I thought they did a good job with this mouse. But I also have wide hands. Which helps with the hips. And honestly, at this point there are so many mice that are out and excellent around the $80 - $100 range that I think you could find one that is better. I'd recommend looking into Pulsar, Lamzu, and I've forgotten the rest off the top of my head. But if you head to Reddit and /MouseReview they often have a bunch of suggestions of more "budget" mice that are from more unknown companies that are just killing it right now.

Except for a single mouse that developed some issues with the clicks which was a known problem with their gen 1 switches which they rather quickly replaced with gen 2. The customer support each time I've dealt with them in the past 2 - 3 years has also been excellent. Maybe the Glorious XXXL mousepad is just a champ or I'm just oblivious (to mice feet). You are correct the HERO and TrueMove Air are going to be extremely similar sensors. • Unfortunately, Logitech is known for such issues. But how very frustrating, especially after 6-months. But at least it is still in the RMA window. I do agree with Steelseries being overpriced in general. Which is why I tend to not like them among other things. But I still think if you can find the Aerox 3 for $50 that it is a great deal and great mouse. • Oh man I'm sorry. I'll keep that in mind for future videos. It comes with a USB C to USB A cord, Extender Dongle, and USB C wireless adapter. The USB A port goes into your laptop/PC, the USB C side goes into the extender dongle, then the USB C wireless adapter plugs into the Dongle. Or if you are using a laptop and have an open USB C port you can just plug the wireless dongle directly into your laptop. But if you are using a desktop or the mouse is far away from the dongle you'll want to us the wire. As the longer you get from the dongle the more likely you are to experience issues. Then you would switch the device to the 2.4 GHz wireless and you are good to go. Or for bluetooth if you hold the middle button and turn on bluetooth (by sliding the toggle) it will go into pair mode (by flashing blue) then you'd go into your bluetooth settings and select aerox 3.

  • personally i like a sensor that is more centered top/bottom closer to where my thumb will be when gripping the mouse and side buttons. This is a pass for me bc of this. Its not really an issue on arpg/mmo/moba but on FPS shooters a too forward or back sensor for me from centered...wont cut it/just isnt worth getting used to. This is on sale for 50$ which makes it a pretty good value, but the deathadder v2 pro and viper ultimate are 59$ so i think ill go with the razer options bc i already have synapse bc of a keyboard vs stacking g-hub, synapse+ ss engine. What i find ironic is that the SS software is the least invasive...yet the most MEH out of my high expectations based on snyapse and G-HUB which i hold as a modern/gold standard. As far as idle/background bs weather or not you want that type of aspect/functionality paired with your mouse. In the past it wasnt that big of a deal bc i had an MSI laptop with a SS/branded keyboard onboard which came with SSE3. Which made pairing it with a sensei/rival etc an easy choice to minimize bloatware....it eventually met my blackwidow ultimate....chroma....and g-hub as i got into the g305/wireless mice. So it had all 3 and my nightmares came to be.

    • You definitely need to go with what works best for you. Personally, I haven’t noticed much difference based on Sensor position. But i’ll have to pay closer attention in the future. I still think the Razer mice are superior and with Prime Day prices the easy choice. I am floored that you love G-Hub lol. But that’s what makes us so wonderful is that we all vary on what we think is best. But I do fully understand the woes of having to deal with software from competitors on a regular basis. Which can be highly frustrating. Loved the comment. Thanks for such a great rundown of your thoughts.

Granted the headphones should be $50 - $100 cheaper. I don't like SteelSeries mostly because I think they sell subpar products for premium prices while touting them as 10/10 when they are closer to 5/10. @gc1370@gc1370 Жыл бұрын
    • I'm talking about a multitude of things. It coming with RGB on is not one of them. My point there is that they report 200 hours of battery life everywhere without disclosing that this is on BLUETOOTH mode with RGB OFF. It has nothing to do with them having RGB on stock. It is the lack of the disclaimer. Also, SteelSeries in general has horrific marketing that is full of stuff like that. So, its not so much this particular mouse has that but them as a whole continually being as close to dishonest as you can be without actually crossing the line. SteelSeries isn't the only ones who do this. But I think they are one of the worst perpetrators of it. Anyways, I appreciate the callout. I agree me going off on a long tangent about something so petty is a bit ridiculous. But my frustration was less about this mouse as it was about SteelSeries as a whole. As they remind me an awful lot of Finalmouse. Make giant claims and come back with mediocre results at exceedingly high price points.
