Russia is kicking some Ukrainian ass for the last few weeks .
As per the question you posed yesterday regarding the Dnieper bridges, I think their destruction would all but seal the Ukrainians on the right bank of the river thus preventing the flow of military strength from the left bank to the right. Therefore destruction of the Dnieper bridges would not conform to the SMO stated goal of complete demilitarization. Conversely, a Classic Military Operation would prioritize destruction of said bridges which would have led to quick military destruction of the forces on the left bank only.

There are NO 25 year old men in Ukraine. The demographics has two holes: since 1991 and since 2014. There is essentially no youth in Ukraine and the current birth rate only supports for maybe 18 million Ukrainians ultimately, before losses of territory, before losses due to outward migration and before losses by death or injury in this war.
Ukraine will soon cease to exist as a nation.

Alexander I love your analysis of events on the battlefield on a daily basis plus your overall analysis on world events as it directly relates to the burgeoning multipolar world. I fancy myself as a military strategist and a military buff as I’ve studied military strategy for years and I do want to make this comment. Nowhere in the annals of modern warfare in this century and in the last century has a country been able to win a war devoid of AIR SUPERIORITY. Now I don’t know what today’s western leaders are thinking, but the notion of Ukraine winning in this conflict without eyes in the sky is complete and utter foolishness. The reason for Russian success is directly related to the Russians following tried and true military doctrines that served them well against a more dangerous foe. Now let’s talk about Russian military doctrine. The doctrine is basically artillery heavy, incessant bombardment and when you ad the swarming drones, there are just too many ways to die if you’re a Ukrainian soldier. Now you have made mention of the goal of the Russian military stated goals to eliminate the Ukrainian military and downgrade them as a fighting force as opposed to taking territory. And you’re absolutely correct in that assessment. The problem here is that the West has fought this war conventionally devoid of air power against a country whose supply lines are not under bombardment. Ukraine and it’s Western partners do not have the same luxury. They can deliver weapons to Ukraine but getting them to the front is another matter whilst the Russians bomb warehousing facilities, trains and bridges at the point of contact. Your assessment regarding the Dneiper bridges is absolutely correct because it gives the Russian Air Force and drones the ability to hunt their armour because they can’t operate in open fields without being seen. They try to hide in the tree lines and they’re still hunted and destroyed. The American Abrams tanks are a good example of this. 31 tanks delivered and 7 of them destroyed. And now they have to return to the rear. I mean let’s face it the only real resistance the Ukrainians can put up is FPV drones but devoid of armour they are being ground down to where their armies will cease to exist. I think another point that deserves to be told is that the only victories against major powers with AIR POWER have been insurgencies where those insurgencies harrow the occupiers supply lines and create massive casualties. Now in those cases in place like Vietnam Afghanistan etc the populace were typically supportive of these rear guard actions. This is not the case in Ukraine. Eastern Ukraine is predominantly Russian speaking and any kind of counter insurgency could not happen because the majority of people want the Russians there not the Ukraine. Now if the Russians were to advance into Western Ukraine then it makes sense rear guard actions could hurt Russia. However Ukraine is quickly running out of men and clearly without enough brigades to continue fighting for years the only option Western Ukraine has is forcing NATO’s hand into joining the alliance. This will only lead to the Russians bombing Kyiv incessantly, degrading their energy facilities even more and could lead IMO to a limited nuclear confrontation. With the West coming out on the short end of that stick. I don’t know what you’re thought is but I distinctly remember a Russia who lost 20 million people who came out of WW II as one of 2 superpowers. And all this conflict has done has made the Russian economy grow, its military industrial complex grow demonstrably and create jobs in Russia for Russian citizens. I could see Russian defence spending if this continues coming close to US spending without the same levels of corporate graft and corruption. I mean this doesn’t end well for the West if this continues for another 2 years. My question for you Alexander is HOW DOES THIS END WITH THE WEST SAVING FACE?

Alex's theory about why Russia doesn't destroy the Dnieper bridges is an intriguing one, but I am not at all convinced. Ukraine has already attacked and attempted to attack the Kerch Bridge how many times now? Are we seriously supposed to believe none of these attacks happened without American knowledge or endorsement? It stretches credulity to think otherwise. There is simply no excuse for Russia not doing it, Kerch Bridge be damned. Criminal negligence not to end the war if you have the ability to do so.
They may want to have those bridges to enter Kiev and Western Ukraine. To secure their forces having a land supply line back East is wise.
