Omg hi fellow lassoers

I love how British TV is comfortable with silence every now and then.
Sometimes the silence after someone speaks is the actual punchline, I love UK comedy
There would be dramatic music and 300 camera cuts to reactions people made (probably on a different day) if this was an American show.
@@IgnoresTrolls jimmy car does a political show in America and it’s absolutely dreadful. Just shows that it’s the Americans that just can’t do comedy right
@@lolaaaaaaaaaaaa 1. Show name? 2. But surely the blame doesn't lie with Americans if it's Jimmy Carr behind the wheel of this one.
@@ginge6411. I think it was called The Fix 2. Jimmy and Catherine were great, however the guests they had on didn’t make me laugh once and didn’t really understand that a panel show is about bouncing off of other comedians, not making statements
He has a degree in astrophysics. His math and memory skills are legit. He's incredibly impressive.
Maths*
@@Doooooooooooood Why is it plurazied in the UK ? In the US it is just math. Just curious, I think subtle language differences like that are interesting.
@@mimib8032 Because the full subject is. Mathematics - Maths. Mathematic - Math.
@@jamesodonnell8290 because when you do a math problem you’re doing one problem not plural.
@@jamesodonnell8290 Almost right. Both Math and Maths are plural. It's just Americans believe the plural form is a collective noun where as British don't. Bit like Water vs Oranges
Memorization like his is incredible but his showmanship makes him even more impressive !
This is the first time I've seen Nick Mohammed outside of Ted Lasso and I spent a WHOLE DAY thinking this was his natural voice until I saw him in an interview.
@@FinnyThePoolmao
Nick Mohammed has been learning/performing magic since he was a kid. He's in the magic circle. This character Mr Swallow just makes it even better. Reminds me a bit of Tommy Cooper although Nick let's himself do the magic part right.
I thought I smelled a magic trick, thanks. Doesn't make it any less impressive, of course.
@@fehoobar oh the memory tricks aren't "magic". There's no trick to them beyond using techniques to remember things. It's a skill and very real.
@@user-wx4jv6im7y that's brilliant 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This one is a magic trick.
@@fehoobar Autisms a hell of a drug
It’d be a shame wouldn’t it. That done me 🤣
I know, right?! LOLOLOL.
Alan Carr's awestruck face during the cards bit says it all.
Omg, his character on Ted Lasso is so quiet! I had no idea he was this hyper! Excellent!
Even his voice is lower in the show. Truly a good actor. Can't wait for next season. I can still see his face in the cliffhanger
He's doing a character here though (Mr Swallow). Doesn't talk like that at all. Find a clip from Graham Norton or any other interview as himself. Sounds like a normal bloke.
@@christiannovak-zemplinski9749 as someone unfamiliar with his work this is blowing my mind.

That was wonderful. Never heard of this guy before but he is brilliant; not just the extraordinary memory but a great personality.
Good actor as well. He plays a more serious role in Ted Lasso and is really good
You’ll be even more impressed watching him act in Ted Lasso. I hadn’t seen him outside of that show, and I was shocked. I think you’ll have the same reaction, the other way around!
He’s good in ted lasso
He starred in life’s too short as the dating agency owner Toby 😊
@@thinkboxtripper he’s playing a character here.
"aaaaah, feedback" bloody fucking amazing. Thats the feedback.
The fact he could do the square root of that in his head shows his obv a genius
Either that or a decent magician.
He has an astrophysics degree from Cambridge uni. I saw him in a Footlights revue at Edinburgh when he was still at uni.
Mental Square roots are insane
Haha
@@TheWhisperDragon Wikipedia says he turned down Cambridge and went to Durham?

Meanwhile, here's me forgetting 2 out of the 3 things my missus sent me to the shops for and suddenly I'm an arsehole ...
What an utterly hilarious, charming and talented guy. I've never heard of Nick before but I hope to see more. That was an incredible display
He’s pretty damn good in the TV series Ted Lasso
I mean I hate him as Nate but that’s only because he plays Nate so well!
Honestly, I cannot get my head around how smart and talented some people are.
It’s really sweet how much fun Rob is having just watching this
Love this - great performance, as much about his comic timing as his feat of memory.
He has great comic timing too. I like his asides.
This guy just overwhelms you with information...And you can't help but start laughing. Brilliant.
This guy is impressively clever
shame his voice is so annoying
@@Opo993 that’s not his real voice 😂 he puts it on for the character
His character in Ted Lasso has a much less annoying voice (although not exactly un-annoying, especially after you get to the end of S2.)
@@Opo993 It's almost as if u don't actually have to listen to it. Crazy
Nick Mohammed is hilarious in various cameo roles he's played in sitcoms like "This Time with Alan Partridge"
I forgot the wife's name yesterday. Not for long enough that the word 'Dear' seemed conspicuous, but... still.

Why have I not heard or seen this man on telly before ?? Insanely talented. Hilarious as well. 😂 Next level stuff
He was in drifters sitcom I think and some othere BBC comedy stuff also does stand up I believe
He’s also on the tv show ‘Ted Lasso’, a show I’ve recently gotten into but love so much. 💛
He was in quite a lot of indie comedy over the years (including the legendary kids' show I'm Sorry I've Got No Head), I've never really seen him in a larger role but he always was delightful. Genuinely didn't know he had something like his Ted Lasso performance in him though, it's really special
@@storageheater omg you've just unlocked a memory for me! Totally forgot he was in Sorry I've Got No Head!!
Most notably Ted Lasso as Nate. He was also in Intelligence with David Schwimmer though I didn't think as highly of that show in comparison to Lasso
He's a god. Absolutely fantastic. Jimmy's bewilderment as to why Phantom is being sung is Wonder.
Everytime I see a Sean clip it makes me sad, but also so happy that I was able to be alive at the same time who had such an amazingly brilliant brain and sense of humour
I think that everyone thinks exactly the same. The guy was a genius.
I'll always remember him first as the guy trying to sell a phone in Sorry I've Got No Head. A THOUSAND POUNDS ?!!
I think the fruit stall one is my favourite, it made me howl. What a weirdly incredible cast it had!
It's too much! I won't pay it! A thousand pounds!
We need more of him in the world! Brilliant!
He's such a talented guy. He's an incredible actor
Christ THAT is Nate's voice? Did not expect that.
This is his character 'Mr Swallow'. Nick himself doesn't talk like this
I spent years ignoring PC Nick Mohammed on Radio 4 because I thought it was that guy from Heartbeat and Eastenders. I felt like such a fool when I realised how funny he is.
Why would you confuse a guy named Nick Mohammed with a guy named Nick Berry?
@@rossdelain1645 because in the image used for the series Detective Sergeant Nick Mohammed, he looks like Nick Berry.
I’ll never understand how people can be this clever. It’s amazing.
That's pure showmanship, well played
I wasn't expecting that accent. 😂😂😂
Ahhh, he's playing a character.
expecting bradistan one?
He sounds like a boxing trainer Dave Coldwell, I can't take Coldwell seriously anymore, I'm always expecting an operatic skit in the middle of his fight analysis.
to be fair, I wasn’t expecting it either because I didn’t realize he was doing a character with a high pitched voice. Also I didn’t realize he was British until Ted Lasso cause his American accent (in The Martian) is spot on
Completely different to his character in Ted Lasso 😲
Rest in peace Sean Lock. I was really hoping the day would come where I'd bump into you on the train or in the pub, but sadly that day will never come I never get bored of Sean's episodes or clips, he's my favourite comedian of all time You can't write tears, but you can cry em RIP you absolute legend. My kids and grandkids will be forced to watch your videos and play carrot in the box PS. In my free time I sit in trees and spit at pigeons

RIP Sean Locke. Nick Mohammed is amazing.
That card skit was amazing.
It was okay... Very easy trick (I can tell you how he did it if you'd like), though there is still a memory aspect to it with which he clearly is good at remembering things!
@@vincentpemberton3749 Just switched the deck out for one he has already memorized?
@@vincentpemberton3749 he is a “magician“ but this was not a trick. the dude is legit, this is just a character he’s playing (one of many he has.) And he’s damn good at remembering things. It’s a skill he’s honed over a really long time, and although he’s a respected professional magician… this was no trick and he’s shown multiple times that his memory skills are for real. Which is really cool.
@@hullinstruments Yes his memory skills are phenomenal. What I meant by 'trick' was that he shuffles the cards infront of you. But what he does is a Riffle Shuffle - If you do that perfectly, 8 times, then the cards return to their original formation. So each time you Riffle Shuffle them [perfectly] they have a guarenteed order. That's why he checks the top card, because as soon as he sees it, he knows the following order. Not denying his incredible memory skills at all!
@@hullinstruments He’s using a card order from Juan Tamariz called Mnemonica. He has the deck memorized but didn’t memorize it right there.
Nick Mohammed should be cast on the the next season of taskmaster. Please and thank you.
You manifested it😂
Nice to see Nate doing well for himself
I love how much he makes Jimmy laugh XD
Man of so many talents! Loved him in Ted Lasso and Intelligence.
They should have this guy on more often.
They probably can't afford him now that Ted Lasso has taken off.
Literally one of my favorite people ever. I can watch the Jurassic Park bit over and over again!

That last line was phenomenal.
With his pinkie up, and all
@@oldvlognewtricks I know it doesn't matter, but I have to correct you. It wasn't his pinky, it was his index finger.

@@oldvlognewtricks His pinky wasn't touching the cup, sure. But it wasn't UP or OUT like his index was 👌
Person, Journey, Person, Journey. So clever. Humans are evolved to remember that shit really well presumably.
I can't remember what I went into a room for,amazing
That must be awkward in a toilet sometimes.
@@fehoobar you wouldn't believe the confusion
Recently, I've read somewhere that going through doorways does something to the human mind. You just forget stuff. Maybe that's just made up. Now, however, as I walk through that very first doorway on my way to do something or get something, I make sure I think about what I'm doing. Seems to be working so far.
@@AndyCutright That is called mindfulness and it does work very well; It is about mentally noting what you are doing or your purpose, thereby making sure its logged in your memory. I say to myself i'm locking the door or i'm switching off the microwave when I am doing the task. Then I don't panic trying to remember whether I did it or not.
Genius and very funny too. What a star 🌟
A genius with a personality! Thats a rare combination
What an amazing man!
This guy is great - old skool English music hall/ working men's club humour.

That was mind boggling. ❤️
Nick Mohammed is brilliant!
He is amazing
He is funny, he is clever and he entertains, I think that he is great.
That's outrageous, loved that
Mr Swallow has to be related to Nathan Shelley, it’s the only way he can remember all those set plays
Bloody hell!!! How can anyone remember stuff like that.
You don't understand. He just calculated the square root of 32.36, in his head (if it wasn't a trick). There isn't a general solution for that as far as I know, other than trial and error.
well, he explained how he does it
Watch at 0.25x speed, he's doing a false shuffle. After riffling, he quickly puts all the cards in his right hand on top of the pile. So they never actually change places. I'm guessing he's memorized a single sequence of cards, which would be worth it if you are going to perform the trick many times. I think he also memorized the menu. For the square root, I'm guessing there are only a few different amounts possible when adding prices of any 3 items, since many items often have the same price. So he could've memorized the square roots. Anyway, that's my guess, but it's still impressive.
@@polycrystallinecandy - So you _think he also memorized the menu_ huh? GENIUS.
@@polycrystallinecandy The squares problem is just a matter of knowing the square root of about forty integers. The total price of the top expensive items is your upper bound. Say that's $40 or whatever whacky currency the British are using post Brexit. You only have to know the square root for the integer range of say [2..40]. So forty values roughly to remember. And if he modified the menu so prices are only in whole integers, so much the better. Everything always adds up to an integer value. I think the square root he "guessed" was about $32.
Bloody genius!
"aww thanks Rob" 😂
This guy is amazing in life's too short
So excited he is on Taskmaster, i think he's gonna smash it. He's the complete package.

That was amazing! 😀
This is what everyone that works at Wagamama’s has to do .
The Phantom bit is great 😆
In case any Ted Lasson fans are wondering, this is also not his actual voice. This is a character he created for his standup routine.

I’m pleased to be able to solve one side of a Rubik’s cube! Mr. Swallow generally annoys me. But,this was impressive I must admit!
Tried to learn the same technique once (probably from the same book) and also chose Alan Titchmarsh for one of the spades! Alas, after several hours practice my best time to memorize was 3 minutes..this is really not easy to do so fast.
