Cheap DIY how to paint job
Let me know what you think good or bad?
See you in the next one 👍😎
Ignore the haters matey , just give it another coat, leave it a week or two to harden then wet and dry it down with 1200 grit and then run the buffer over it. Prepare to be amazed. Trust me
Totally agree mate put a few thick coats on then leave it a week or two to harden off properly then used electric sander to flat it off you'll get a decent finish with bit of hard work
@@quincy5855 totally worth doing though 👍🏻
@@nostreamavailable9090 Definitely
@@quincy5855 l think the negative comments from the haters just show a lack of understanding, a lack of respect and lack of imagination. That paint is basically oil based enamel in the same vein as rustoleum and tractor paint, it responds really well to being cut and buffed and being 2k clearcoated over. The internet is teaming with rustoleum paint jobs that turn out really well. I would have no qualms whatsoever in painting my vehicle with enamel although I'd probably spray it on.
@@nostreamavailable9090 Totally agree mate some hate on everything and anything and most of them probably never held a spanner
Some years ago, my older brothers mate painted a mk3 Cortina with Hammerite. It was before they sold the 'smooth' stuff. It looked ok in the dark from about 2 miles away. 😁👍
😂
I think it looks pretty good for what you did! Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.
Brings a new meaning to the term ‘orange peel’ 😂. But way better than I thought
A former pizza-delivery car.... May be the first touch of love she ever had. Nice job.
Thanks I think you might be right 👍😎
Absolutely brilliant 👍🏼
Fair play to you pal. Giving it a go. A bodyshop would have charged you plenty for that obviously with much better results but if your happy then that's all that matters. Well done
I think the paint job will survive the rest of the car. 👍 I also think if you wanted to you could spend another afternoon wet sanding and polishing with great results.
Might have a go at that next week 🤙
@@rightenough4126 Second thought, if you decide to do that I'd start somewhere where it won't be seen with a small test piece to make sure the Hammerite doesn't do something unpredictable. Or do a test elsewhere if you have some paint left. And all that said , I'm actually that kind of a guy who would leave it as it is now. Who says cars need to be shiny... 😉
Looks better then when you started
Ah , like the good old days.
Great! All we need now is a video where we can watch the paint dry. 😅
Coming soon! If you want it I’ll do it 😄
Hammerite hammered metal finish would have been interesting
Maybe I could try it on the next job
Looks lovely.... probably kick up a bit in the sunshine . Don't forget to wax it .
Cool 👍
Cheap as chips for a cheap runabout mate. It looks ok, you do you!
Good job - paint he rest of it then it will not be so noticable - for the money you paid - its a bargain !! - Normal oil based house gloss works really well also BUT you need somewhere to stand the car - garage etc as it takes longer to dry - after a frw weeks it can be wet flatted town & buffed up - comes out well - NOT showroom - but well presentable !! -
A £40 Hammerite paint job versus a £2,000 re-spray. I think youve done a great job, personally. But how long will the Hammerite last before it starts flaking? Maybe it doesnt matter - go over quivkly with an electric sander then do the same thing again. Well done.
Brush painted my Audi with Valspar post box red years ago. Looked ok but did need to be waxed very regularly otherwise iy would soon go dull
Love it, and I found watching this weirdly therapeutic
Glad you enjoyed it 👍😎
Zero fks given, good job
Yep just lash the paint on
@@rightenough4126 10ft or 3 metres away it will look like several grand paint job
Yeh looks alright from up the road 😂
Hello sir it's not 100% ok, but it's NOT bad at all. maybe a litle polish later . it was very interesting video you know. greetings
I love it.
huh its gotten flatter on the paint than expected tbh If you wet sand it with 2.000 and 3.000 and polish it up I bet it wouldnt look to off kinda impressed - also those red tones seem to be very similiar you are lucky here haha
Thanks for the tip I might have to give that a go 👍😎
@@rightenough4126 you could try it on the hood and see how it goes but should improve and make it almost invisible. Great job btw still for how it went out its not bad. :)
Looks alright to be fair not too bad a match either
Interesting. :) I did this to a Cortina, years ago, using coach paint and it looked very passable and lasted till I scrapped it. I also once had a job with a small outfit where he'd rollered two Moskvich vans yellow, but had used household paint. :) Still looked ok - from a distance. :) They were only Moskvichs. :)
Glad you enjoyed found it interesting, these kind of jobs look ok from a distance 😀
Done that on a old ford in the 80s looked quite good
Got to love an Old Ford 👍😎
It looks a lot better than before. This was the way my father painted his Land Rover Lightweight (made of steel) and how many do their work vans. Just need to give it a sanding down and machine polish if you care to.
I hear G360 Super Fast Compound works well. 😉
Most cars in old days were brush painted….even RR…….
May want to thin the paint next time plus use moher roller sleeve toped up with clear coat .. fine sanding between coats and adding paint dryer additive to significantly cut drying 😉
Ah right ok thanks it’s still not fully dry now 😀
As temps r low still it takes time to dry oil paint. Let it fully dry b4 doing anything else if planned . grand job however you ll get more satisfaction if followed above as eye will appreciate it in good sunlight
Thank you noted for next time 👍
Every little help .. Also you could change roof bonnet to different color.. black or else. Red dyed paints have bad history regarding lasting .. Fine job .. Well done
Do you mean mohair and topped ?
Have seen roller applied paint on a camper van. In the right situation it is absolutely fine
Great colour match. Prep it properly and it will look a lot better.
Knock back the orange peel with a bit of wet and dry and soapy water.
It's better than it was! A bit of wet sand and buff and it'll look decent. As is, it's "right enough" 🙂 remarkable colour match considering it's whatever you could lay hands on
It was better before he touched it you need to go to 😎 spec savers
My mum painted my Allegro with Dulux white gloss using a brush. It looked pretty bad but I was OK with it .Don't be too fussy as it's a privilege to own a car as many in this world will never have the chance
My mates dad back in the day brushed on gloss on his ford cortina. Yhea it works but looks shit lol.
I was going to use gloss on the wheels 🛞 just because I had a tin 😅
I don’t want to like it, but………. For the money spent and the car you were doing it on it looks fine. Love to know how it looks in a year or twos time.
Subscribe and I’ll keep you updated 😉
I remember one of my first cars was a blue mg metro turbo £500 it was painted blue with a brush you could see the brush lines 😂
Like 51 great job 😂
Thank you! Cheers!
haha looks rate enough may aswell roller rest of car now
Well i hope it was really cheap as its about ready to be scrapped with that high mileage and would of been hammed around being a little engine and never had a oil and filter change but any make of red car goes like that i would of just taken it back where was peeling off and t cut it and left it like that as now it's going to be different colours of red or you doing the whole car but hammerite is good paint but not cheap lidi do a 1L 3 in 1 rust protection primer and paint £7 a tin but don't know if you got one where you are i buy alot of tools from there
wtf did I just watch
That’s not a car , no offence.
Ruined the car best thing you can do is wet and dry the whole car ry buff it up get a smooth shine on it with T cut, or even put it in full fe spray Should get two money back goid sellers these little cars
You should of used a stick 😂🤣😂
L@@ks ok if you like oranges 😂🤣😂
what a complete mess
Thanks for watching subscribe to see more!
Ignore them mate. It'll cut and buff just fine. Better than having it rusting out on you @@rightenough4126
Waste of paint.
