The 2022 Acura NSX Type S ($187,000 USD, ~$225,000 CAD) is looking to take on some serious competition for this drag race. It’s up against: the rocketship known as the Porsche 911 Turbo S ($223,230 USD, $260,500 CAD), the tried-and-true Nissan GTR Nismo Special Edition ($217,485 USD, $281,998 CAD), and the American mid-engine monster the C8 Corvette Z51 ($84,980 USD, ~$101,733 CAD). How will each of these cars fare during a dig and a roll? Thomas has hopped in the new NSX Type S and James has the C8 Corvette. Karston has his trusty GTR. Porsche has mastered the art of putting as much of it's power down as possible as efficiently as possible with the Turbo S. Their drivetrain is an engineering marvel. No stock car with the same power can beat it.
Fr Porsche has perfected so many aspects of the car and the automobile industry doesn’t stand a chance in really any aspects.

On a track the GT-R would demolish the Porsche like it was nothing.

Yes after 15 years…That car is 10 years overdue for an update. I know it is fast it still needs an updated engine and chassis. Nissan sports cars are like those Chrysler cars that were originally Mercedes that they have been selling for almost 20 years. The Challenger, Charger,and 300. Building a new car can cost billions so I get why they don’t do a new one but they have to at some point…
It wont. That GTR is completely outdated nowadays. It was ahead of its time 10 years ago maybe. A car that can barely sustain its max output shouldnt even be sold. This car and all its mechanical parts were probably never designed for the amount of heat and forces it generates right now. Anyone can put big tires and ramp up the power to go faster. Hell, thats basically what Corvettes always do. But they all know their limits. Nissan seems to not. They should have never released the NISMO. Should have kept the standard GTR, improve the reliability and costs, and take on the sporty coupes of its class. The M4, the muscle races,... It does not belong in the super cars category. It just makes a fool of itself venting after one launch or a pair of laps.
@@josebrown5961 Well at some point they'll discontinue it so no point in trying to update or completely redesign now. To late in time to do it, the time we live in right now where electrification is near and gas prices rising, they will never make any type of money if they put alot of money into it because no one is in the market for that type of car anymore sadly... It would certainly be nice if they still do no doubt about that but just saying, the way the world is looking right now, I don't know. Edit: they could do a refresh which certainly wouldn't be really that much to do but a whole redesign probably won't happen at all. 90% chance it won't.

To think that the GT-R came out when I was 14!! and and am now almost 30, puts it into perspective how much of a beast the car really is..."Godzilla" is so fitting, cause it's been a nightmare for most cars, till this day..

Considering the stingray is down on power from them all seeing as the others are forced induction, let alone 120k to 200k less expensive, me too. But, I own a C8 lol and I'll put on a maggie ling for 35k installed to even the odds in my favor.

GTR pricing is like they will only sell you one if your a fanboi with a trust fund . Dang!!! Godzilla is 15 years old and it still sits at the top of Japanese Supercars!!! Got to give credit to that. I can't wait for the next gen GT-R. They will update the R-35 though but it is still an R-35 and I think it is times up for the R-35 long live to this legendary car.

I see these type of videos pop up all the time and what the other videos fail to do that this video does well is that it calls out the price differences in the cars and what models of each car are being compared. I'd love to see this video again when the Z06 and Zora Corvette versions are on the market. Great job again!

Why do you believe that…have you seen them race against each other? Truth is the Type-S is quicker due to extra power and added tuning. However, a stock Type S will lose against the first iteration of a Gen 2 car modded with the JB4 tune module and performance exhaust, all from “Science of Speed” Co. The mods with race gas add ~ 100+ hp for a net of 700 hp for a verified 2.6 to 60.
Wow. It's not like I didn't know this, but the 911 Turbo S is an engineering marvel. Very impressive acceleration. And the GTR Nismo isn't a slouch performer by any stretch. The way the 911 Turbo S just handily pulls away from a dig or roll.... Extraordinary. Glad Porsche has engineered a lot of the older, satisfying flat 6 sound into the 911 Turbo S (instead of just the bland, air whooshing, blowtorch sound) is very pleasurable. That's great. And in conjunction with a beautiful color like Gentian blue, with a great level of standard equipment, and an ergonomic interior, that's a recipe for success by my standards. It's every bit worth the price---and I have owned Corvettes for the majority of my adult life... I'd say that's pretty high praise from a former Corvette owner.
Yes the 15 year old Japanese car is showing its age against Porsches best and latest efforts it only took them over 10 years to catch up 👍🏻
@@alanball2912 The turbo s has always been faster than the GT-R. 10 years ago the Turbo S was just slightly faster and now they arent comparable anymore. I remember the time when only 3 cars had a 0-100 time under 3 seconds. The Bugatti Veyron (2,5 s), the turbo s (2,8s) and the GT-R (2,9s).

@@miguelberetta7887 Well it got a lot more expensive in the last gen. So that's Nissan's fault. And I was wrong. It got heavier in the last gen as well. But it did gain power and such. According to my quick research. They tried to improve the quality of matierialas used for the interior. Added too the weight

GTR sells fro 200k + which is Not in the league of Corvette... but is in the league of the porsche. And we cant really compare a GTR to a porsche... U would need lots of weight reduction and way more power to even come close to 911 turbo s speed... Oh but GTR is a track car !! u might say... thre is a bunch of way cheaper cars that obliterates nismo on a track... that cost 100k less lol Yes 10 years ago GTR was a GOD tier car. I was a fanboy myself. I will always prefer R32/33/34 over R35 anyway. But R35 had its run. It was a great car when it released in 2010. But in last decade things have changed. DRASTICALLY CHANGED. Now a freaking 5000 pund family saloon car launch u in to space and do quarter mile in 9 seconds... times has changed, but GTR left the same.

Performance wise, very few hypercars actually stand at the top of car performance, theyre mostly celebration and prestige cars rather than brand sakes

there’s a reason the GT-R has the “supercar killer” reputation edit: that being said the turbo s is just in a whole other realm of speed, acceleration and handling.
it doesn't even deserve that title anymore with how expensive it is now. the point of that name was to show that a cheap car could beat the big guys. that's what the Corvette does now
@@burgerenjoyer2982 This is true but at the same time it is understandable. To be able to beat these current supercars they have to spend a lot more money on research and quality parts. Even then the GTR is still one of, if not the quickest car you'll get for around $80k. Baring in mind it does still beat supercars in the 100k-200k mark

I'm sure it can't be easy to do what those cars did, but i hope they keep it up. I have high hopes for Acura too. (I'm a huge Corvette fan tho. Can't WAIT to see the Z06 C8 track time)

911 Turbo S is always amazing for its power to weight ratio as being stock I'm still more impressed how fast the GTR still is after all this years same platform with little small updates through the years its to be respected cant wait for the next gen GTR and NSX sexy for sure and C8 need to call his big bros for a rematch lol

Why does no one appreciate the NSX? It gets overlooked by the GTR everyday even though the NSX is by far the better car. I'd take one over the severely outdated GTR any day

turbo S will still beat c8 Z06 and the Z06 is in the $180k range with markups. NOT worth the price. Buy a used Turbo S and have a better car!

If you are going to spend Porsche money, get a properly engineered car, not something from the King of CVTs that had to resort to cheating to beat the 911 on the Nurburgring.

Even with all the advantages of the Porsche and the raw quickness of the GTR, I'd still take the Acura. It's a better daily, looks better, more reliable, and gives the Porsche a run for it's money in the corners with SHAWD.

So because it's a Nissan what should the GTR Nismo cost ? $50,000 ? ... because that puts it in line with a Challenger Scat Pack, Camaro SS, Subaru WRX, Audi TT, BMW 430i .... and none of those can hold a candle to it. You have to at some point use common sense and realize that it isn't even a straight line car, it's a TRACK CAR. I worked at Porsche for 7 years. People can say what they want about the design, but their engineering is next to none. They have the premiere engineers in Germany. And it shows. The PDK transmission, the platform, the flat 6 design, the braking. It’s a complete street missile.
Ill still take that beautiful NSX!

Man!!! That 911 Turbo S is the ultimate super car! Oh, I just realized it has 640HP. More HP and light weight helped.. I still can't believe that Godzilla still beat the Acura NSX Type S! I'll still take the NSX Type S any day..Great races! The NSX was a little heavier than the GTR. That's why the GTR won I believe..I knew the Corvette would lose...so, two JDM cars run next to the fastest 911 Turbo S super car...I'm cool with that..

Honestly all those cars are crazy yet out of all of them I’d still pick the C8. Half the price out of all of them and to upgrade, tune and work on them will be cheaper and easier. My second choice tho is that Porsche, it’s insane & looks amazing. The NSX has my respect but for the price isn’t worth it and the GTR was ahead of its time but is to mainstream. 10 years ago if I had the money I’d buy it.
@Michael Hodgkinson ,Mostly agree in the context of straight line drag race only. Tuning the C8 only makes it worst from a launch… . The affordable DIY JB4 & exhaust for the NSX adds 125 very usable h.p. Godzilla would need tuning to beat it. RE the other considerations as: Superior engineering, build quality, street & track handling/cornering, daily drivability, collector desirability, resale value, etc…the Honda NSX demolishes the Nissan & the Chevy. Summary: You get what you pay for.
Except the the new updates on the other cars like the z06 is a lot faster even from a dig so I’d like to see it now up against to NSX now that it’s more comparable, especially the new Eray sense it as AWD like the rest. And Nissan is going for the route don’t fix something that ain’t broke. Only doing some small change but there quite good. Like pushing the transmission back to a transaxle so the weight distribution is pretty much 50-50.

It does have less horse power and it is almost heavier then the other cars,due to the fact it has all the options so that includes the ride height which adds a lot of weight
