Have you ever wondered just how accurate Lamborghini’s claimed power output figures are? Well, we’re about to put them to the test!
We’ve got our hands on a Lamborghini Huracan STO, an Aventador SVJ and an Urus Performante, and we’re heading to the dyno to see just how accurate their horsepower figures are!
Each of these three supercars comes equipped with a different engine & power output. The Huracan STO is first up, and it arrives with a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 which can apparently produce 640hp. Following that we have the Urus Performante, which is packing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that can pull 666hp. And then finally we have the daddy, the Aventador SVJ. This is packing a 6.5-litre V12 which can apparently put down 770hp. Or at least, that's what Lamborghini claims...
But that’s not all! As well as finding out what their power output figures are, we’ll also be sticking each car on the scales to find out how much they really weigh!
How do you think this one will play out - will the cars be putting down what Lamborghini says they are? And will they be lighter or heavier than their claimed weight?! You’ll need to stick with Mat and Mark to see for yourself!
Sell your car with carwow: bit.ly/Buy-Sell-WOW
We've approached Lamborghini to comment on the weight discrepancy and are waiting for its response
It's refreshing to see people actually use these cars, instead of sitting around in a garage.
This is one of the increasingly few benefits of social media - people being able to monetize shit showing it off.
@@mindasb Can you say that lamborghini is investment?

Matt, you forgot to remove the 200kg of dirt due to drifting on sand and mud with the SVJ.

@@purwantiallan5089 general kenobi!
We love your taste in cars Mark!!!
they all sure sound awesome! Especially the V10 and V12 of course!
Hopefully we can do this with all porsche including the turbo gt, would like to see that compared to the Urus
I bet those figures will be pretty close considering the time they had the Panamera dynoed.
@@Presto_001 i'd imagine 992 turbo s would do more than 750hp on crank, considering it gaps an SVJ on the rolling race and that supposed to have 810hp with less advertised weight
There’s a video of a turbo GT on a dyno coming up soon, saw a teaser from the owner, Tomi
@@JWil97 Aventador is heavier and has less torque.

the only car collector that actually drives these cars properly u deserve it mark
You can drive supercars properly also without taking them on gravel and dirt country roads. Thats not really their market.
@@captain_context9991 Most of owners of supercars just drive around with it in Monaco or Dubai or let them sleep in a garage.

I like Marks attitude and personality
Yep. It is also very lovely.
I don’t get it personally

With Mark taking his Lambos off road, I know now who Lamborghini made the Huracán Sterrato for😄
Agree man. 😂
This series is actually great. Love it
Agree man
That svj is pure madness, looks insane
Agree. As insane as 1988 Countach 25th Anniversary.
I can only afford two of these at the moment, so I'm thankful to carwow for helping me decide.
I can afford none of these at the moment, so I’m thankful to The Doc for being in a position where I’d like to be 😭
oh well, better than watching reviews on the latest Corolla
I can only afford Volkswagen golf at the moment, don't know about you 😂
such nice of them🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
So, what are you deciding to go with Doc?
Wow, those figures are just mental when you take into mind the drivetrain loss. Please keep these Dyno tests incoming, though... You guys seem to be levelling up in the type of cars. From sporty hatchbacks to sporty estate vehicles to now Lamborghinis. What's next; Bugatti's?
I just wonder how do they measure drivetrain loss, normally after a run you'd put the car in neutral and let it roll basically until it stops, that way the dyno knows exactly the drivetrain loss, here on the video they don't measure it that way (at least it looks like that, because they're braking and doing downshifts right after a run), adding up the typical drivetrain loss for a certain drivetrain won't work because wheel horsepower measurement can be influenced by many factors such as the tyres, tyre temperature, gearbox and diff oil temperature, how hard you strap the car down to the dyno etc, so yeah, I'm just curious how did they calculate crank HP.
@@arekb5951 not sure how it works at all so disregard me if im saying something stupid, but they might have gotten the full figure from the dyno and then calculated the crank power from there
@@arekb5951 Seems like those cars must use some sort of special DNA for that.
@@arekb5951 how hard you start the car?? I’m pretty sure no one is going to not strap the car hard …
@@alloush5995 it's all about consistency, straps stretch a bit, the car settles on the dyno with successive runs and that affects the result a tiny bit. Not much, but these things add up. I did a heat soak test with my car so that I could be sure that it won't explode on track, we did like 20-25 successive runs with drivetrain loss roll out, every single run was within 1HP at the crank, but the first run straight from the street was 7-8 wheel HP worse than the last one. I bet that if I unstrapped and strapped the car down again a bit differently I'd get slightly different WHP read out as well. Obviously such variability in WHP measurement is suboptimal when tuning the engine, because you can never be sure if the change you've made in the ECU took an effect on the engine performance or was it just a strap that loosened up a bit, gearbox oil that has slightly lower viscosity now because it has warmed up or combination of all.
this video really helps me in deciding which one i should get. Thank you Mat :)
I always appreciate it.
MORE DYNO VIDEO !!! they are the best

Love the way you did it this time, telling us both whp and bhp! Keep doing it like this!
Mark is hilarious 😂 his snap backs are quick on the mark
Amazing video! But I would’ve loved to see the torque figures, just like in the other videos. Can’t wait to see more in this series!
Svj torque well be more than 720Nm I guess because there's a video people tested a Aventador Sv and it got 726Nm
Loving the dyno vids 💯💯
Mat thank you so much for this insane video!
Thanks for having Dylan for the day, he had a huge grin on his face when he got back.
The SVJ is phenomenal, that matte black and the oh so sweet V12😍

Also Super GT300 cars doing Dyno testing...
Finally Matt came to the conclusion I mentioned in the drag race! Luxury options! 😂
Matt always done this epic.
Yes, I thought exactly the same. It also came to mind that it might have still been on its run in period just like all new cars have. Definitely needs to have a rematch with another drag race

Anyone who gets a Lambo on the dirt is a badass. Mark is Badass! 🤣
It's really weird to see such a clean and enclosed dyno.
Yep. Very unusual.
speaking from personal experience, it is indeed.
Its only around 2-3 years old and needed it built probably to try and keep the noise down.
But why are dyno's not always enclosed?
Mark Macan, the expert excuse man. I loved the interaction at the Urus. Great video, ,Mat.
The Urus maybe pales in comparison to Panamera Turbo but on Dyno Testing, this car smashes it.
TWO of the greatest car people on all of KZhead. I don't understand how Mark doesn't have more fame. Love any video these two do together.
Wish we could see Super GT500 cars like 1997 Castrol Tom's Supra and 2008 Calsonic Impul GT-R doing this dyno drag race.
Matt!!!! You have to get all the Mclaren's!! 570 through to 765 (or P1 if possible hehe) Thanks :)
Yeah, I always wonder how much hp does those Mclaren makes because they always seem to be faster than everyone else.
The 765 makes around 780 hp at the wheels
Awesome video, do another one soon!
Great video again!
Marks sarcastic humour has me on the floor 😂
Aventador is my absolute favorite car it’s just gorgeous, and wow that engine sounds mean at the top! 😍 heard several of them revved at car meets but nothing beats heading it at the top while under load. Can’t get enough lol
You should go drive one. You'd more than likely change your mind if how a car actually drives matters.
@@AB-80X Some people cannot afford to do so. However I love the feel of much sportier cars. Stiffer suspension, plus those gear changes in the Aventador are supposed to be pretty aggressive based on videos I have seen. I can love a car without having driven it, you know.
Great video Mat!😸
Loving these videos 👏. Mark is quality 😂
And also always top quality.
Lamborghini is notorious for listing their dry weight (no fluid in the car at all of any kind), not 90% full of gas as Mat had them calculate. They have been called out for this numerous times at this point, enough it should have been brought up in an automotive journalists video.
That's why they calculated the DIN weight before comparison, still 220kg over what it should be. Dry weight is irrelevant
😂😂😂 I fully understand what I'm talking about. Your comment is making out that Mat was wrong in his calculations. 😂
There's a difference between listing dry weight and simply lying. That's what they do. They know their cars are lard asses, but they know few Lambo owners will ever care.
The STO and the SVJ sounds so good ! Its gave me goose bumps
Yep. The Aventador SVJ sounded miles better tho.
this is the video I was wating for letss gooo
I love your shizz bro, you make the best car vids, unlike the rest 😂 yours is actually fun
The extra weight is probably all the mud and sand that's trapped in the cars 😂
These cars apparently look cool.
that sound of the door when Mark Opened it
A good team this Mark & Matt!
I love these videos.
Love these Dyno Videos
Mark must have left his wallet in the SVJ's glovebox❤😇
Mark has tons of money on stock.
It really shows how well put together modern cars are when Mark can treat that Aventador the way he does and it's still goin strong lol its nice to see them being used properly
This is why someone must either check the skales or eyesight or both. Cool video and always fun when McCann is involved!
Very interesting info on power and weight. Thing is Mark’s SVJ power could be completely different from mine or anyone else. Each one of those same cars might produce different results.
Agree bro.
Not really. What will produce different results are different dynos. These are pretty much Audi engines that are very similar.
my man mat be looking like jeffery dalmer
Great to see the dyno graph comparison
We need Model S Plaid, SF90, Turbo S, M5 CS, SRT Demon and 765LT to dyno
We need a drag race before that though.
They've already had M5 competition on dyno so M5 cs wouldn't be far off.
If you put an SF90 on that dyno and then on the scales, poor Mark would spend the next six months crying himself to sleep.
You know you should do these as is, then do a tune up and standard service with a fuel cleaner and octane booster. Be curious how much power they'll gain. Also I think with the optional wheels he has definitely added extra unnecessary weight.
This is literally cool.
There's no tune up be done a modern engine. The they have variable valve timing and direct injection. Or both direct and port in case of the V10.
@@ahemgee9542 there is, you change the spark plugs, fluids, air filter, and a few other things. It is not a tune up as in adjusting the carburetor or other things like in the old days, but it is still classified as a tune.
Mark is so chilled, what a star! Lol 👏👍😀
More videos like this please. Respect from Cape Town South Africa
Still good to know that Lambo weight their cars without the engine being inside!
Lambo just doing what they always have been doing. Fake it.

I'd be really fascinated to see this same thing applied to other performance brands. I get the feeling Ferrari wouldn't be thrilled though.
686whp. N/a. Thats mad!
I mean it does have a 6.5 lire v12
interesting video😮💪 Thanks

There must be so much mud on air filter 😂😂
Have you ever run a car on a proper dyno? If so, you should know that no dyno operator would ever put a car filled with dirt and mud on the rollers. Car looked clean.
@@AB-80X I wasn't aware of that thanks for the info
@@user-vo9ct7qn2v Sure thing. It's too dangerous to do so.
manufacturers worst nightmare. doing dyno tests and proving their performance figures!! love it!
Especially for Italians and actual weight :) Ferraris are also way off the claimed figures, the sf90 for example is well above 1700kg while claiming ~1570; the maser mc20 is 1700kg exactly while claiming at least 200kg less
Really nice test.
best carwow serie, keep it up

Huracan STO made 550 rear weel horsepower (about 647hp using 15% drivetrain loss) Urus Performante made 582 all wheel horsepower (about 727hp using 20% drivetrain loss) Aventador SVJ made 686 all wheel horsepower (about 857hp using 20% drivetrain loss) Manufacturers rate horsepower at the flywheel or engine horsepower. On a dyno horsepower is measured at the wheels, so you have to take drivetrain loss into account to get engine horsepower. Generally rear wheel drive cars have about 15% drivetrain loss and all wheel drive cars have about 20% drivetrain loss.
Wow, that's just nuts. Lamborghini are straight liars, but in a great way. Thank you for the detailed description as well. You must know your mechanics.
@@Presto_001 They're not lying. All of them made more power than how Lamborghini rates them.
@Daedalus They downgraded their performance stats. Those figures weren't even close, especially on that Aventador. It like what BMW do with their 0-60mph times. They understate it, to give the buyer a bit more of a shock. It's a white lie, isn't it called an omission lie?
@@Presto_001 I'm sorry but how? The Huracan STO is rated at 630hp from factory and it dynoed 550hp at the wheels which is equal to 647hp. The Urus perfomante is rated at 666hp from factory and it dynoed 582 hp at wheels which is 727hp. Lastly the Aventador SVJ is rated at 759hp from factory and it dynoed 686hp at the wheels which is 857hp. They're all making more power than what Lamborghini claims. I think you're not understanding how dyno works.
