Emotional woman attempts to enter Copenhagen's burning stock exchange
This footage shows the moment an emotional woman was stopped by a firefighter after attempting to enter Copenhagen's burning stock exchange building. It is not known why she was running towards the building, but she appeared to be very distressed. In a courageous act, more footage shows people retrieve a painting from the wrecked building and carrying it to safety. The building, which is situated next to the Christiansborg Palace where the parliament sits, is a popular tourist attraction and has been photographed millions of times. Its distinctive spire, in the shape of the tails of four dragons twined together, reached a height of 56 meters (184 feet). Huge billows of smoke rose over downtown Copenhagen and people were seen rushing inside the building to save paintings. The plume could be seen from southern Sweden, which is separated by a narrow waterway. Ambulances were at the scene but there were no reports of casualties. A spokesman for the company working on renovating the building said the carpenters who worked on the roof had all come out. Up to 90 members of an army unit were also deployed from a nearby base to cordon off the area and “secure valuables," Denmark's armed forces said. The building and the spire had been encased in scaffolding, which later collapsed in the fire. The roof, masonry, sandstone and spire of Boersen - built in 1615 and considered a leading example of Dutch Renaissance style in Denmark - was being renovated, said the Danish Chamber of Commerce, which moved into the building after Copenhagen's stock exchange left in 1974. The adjacent Christiansborg Palace has burned down on several occasions, and most recently in 1990 a fire broke out in an annex of the Danish parliament, known as Proviantgaarden. However, the Old Stock Exchange survived unscathed.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. #copenhagen #fire #stockexchange

So tragic. Praying for the Danes and the recovery from such a historic loss. 🙏✝️❤️
I'm from Denmark, we don't ALL feel sad about this.... There is a 100% media narrative about this "historic" building etc.... The FACT is, when the the little people in Denmark lose OUR treasures, the people in the big city, they mock us, and tell jokes, like "learn to code, farm boy"..... They call us notsees and other words, delete our comments, for being nationalist, "backwards" old fashioned, obsolete, ignorant. ..... But when something THEY love burns, a simple brick building, nothing but private owned offices, suddenly its a "national tragedy"..... NOW they intverview people from all over the nation, to express their grief over this loss... When it's something THEY love, suddenly we have a NATION..... They even deployed 100+ soldiers, to keep people out of the flames..... Something they said couldn't be done to protect our border, during the migrant crisis..... Can't use force to keep people out. huh.

This building was not just an iconic national symbol and landmark built by Denmark’s most renowned king; it housed hundreds of invaluable paintings, thousands of manuscripts, documents, and tomes, as well as sculptures and priceless artifacts created by Europe's legendary artists and artisans through 400 years. The rooms themselves, masterpieces of artistry, were the sites of many of Denmark’s most crucial, destiny-altering decisions made by famed figures. The magnitude of this tragedy cannot be overstated-it is a profound loss not just for Denmark, but for Europe as a whole. Four hundred years of the richest forms of European culture and history have gone up in flames.

The stock exchange was built from 1619 and originally housed a central hall and two rows of twenty stalls each, which could be rented out. The king took an active part in the construction, and his desire for a distinctive architecture led to the setting up of the famous spire with the twisted dragon tails. After all, we know that dragons are known to guard gold. As guardians above the Danish trading centre, the dragons were therefore an appropriate symbol of Denmark's wealth and importance.
Seems pretty obvious that the dragons started the 🔥🐉🐉
@@johnrubber1144 It is not quite right because it is water dragons. Symbolic meaning that should protect the building as they have done for 400 hundred years.

These are such old buildings. Why would you keep the most priceless stuff in there when you are about to renovate? Things happen during renovations, and things can get damaged. If you were renovating your home, you remove the most important and personal items from the areas that will be under construction. Construction workers going in and out of a home can’t always be trusted, so you remove items to safer locations. Why wouldn’t you do that HERE? I remember seeing this building when I was visiting Copenhagen. Beautiful buildings and history there. This is very tragic and the lack of common sense in this era of humanity is staggering. Ridiculous. Really ridiculous, unless this is an inside job of some sort of deep criminality. Sorry for the Danes. 😩😰🙏🏽

Actually because of the scafolding and the copper roof latters from above were not very effective. Therefore they tried to suppress the fire from within partially successive given the only halv the building has burned at this point.
This has been adressed and explained by a former firefighter chief. It has to do with the artifacts and paintings etc inside the building. So to not damage those treasures they didnt spray water at the level you'd expect. Not untill as many things inside had been rescued first.
They were there 4 minutes after the alarm sounded. This is literally in the center of "power" of Danmark!!
