As a nearly 400-year-old Copenhagen landmark became engulfed in flames, locals took it upon themselves to help authorities drag historic paintings from the Old Stock Exchange.
People were seen rushing into the burning building to help salvage the many famous artworks it housed, successfully saving its most famous piece by Peder Severin Kroyer from 1895.
Traffic service operator and Copenhagen resident Klavs Lockwood walked down to the area to move his car after hearing about the fire, when he joined people carrying the works to safety.
The mayors of the city have said they believe it is vital to restore the Renaissance building, including its dragon-tailed spire which collapsed.
