Max Holloway returns home
Two days after his historic and iconic knockout over Justin Gaethje to win the UFC's BMF belt at UFC 300, Waianae's Max Holloway landed back home at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport on Oahu.
Just blessed man, just blessed," Holloway told KHON2's Rob DeMello on Monday. "Shout out to Justin Gaethje highlight. Without him, none of this is possible. He had a lot to lose and he went out there like a true BMF. Gave me the shot. Big UFC 300. To go out like that, man it's just, it's amazing, man. ... It's blessed and being reminded who blessed was and I think we did that.

absolutely, 100%, but max, being the great guy he is, hates the idea of borderline extorting his fellow hawaiians for those insane ufc ticket prices, and i don't blame him... he knows they'd pull up in troves, but wouldn't feel good seeing them drop $300+ on a ticket, and in some cases much, much, more. guy's a gentleman.

But like he said, Hawaii doesn't have the infastructure anymore. He would've packed and sold out Aloha Stadium, but Hawaii can't use it. Stan Sheriff and Blaisdelle centers are not big enough. I think hes hinting at the powers that be that Hawaii needs to step their game up for entertainment venues. Which they do. Hawaii is missing out on a lot of entertainment options because lawmakers can't get anything done on time and on budget ...

Great interview. I can't believe how humble and down to earth Max is, the way he talks, and the way he's dressed, after possibly the best fight and finish I've seen. It's just unreal seeing him in this interview in the airport I've used often, among the other people in the baggage claim, after that crazy win at UFC 300. He just looks like a regular Hawaiian brotha. I see he wants to run back a couple losses from way back, but he'll alwalys be a winner in my book. Max truly is the BMF.
