It was Shaquille O'Neal's first game facing his former team, the Orlando Magic, since his move to the Lakers. As tensions ran high and emotions soared, Shaq received a pivotal phone call from his father during halftime. This unexpected moment of connection seemed to fuel Shaq's fire even more, igniting a second-half performance that left fans in awe. With former teammates Penny Hardaway, Dennis Scott, and Nick Anderson watching from the sidelines, Shaq dominated the court, showcasing his unparalleled skill and determination. Witness the electrifying atmosphere and the sheer brilliance of Shaq as he leads the Lakers to victory, making a statement that resonates throughout the NBA.

  • I remember watching Shaq do an interview with Schick Hern during halftime of a lakers game while he was still in college. He spoke about how he always wanted to play for the lakers when he was a kid. When he got traded to the lakers it made sense to me, Shaq was always a laker. I’ll admit that I’m biased but I STILL don’t consider Lebron a laker, he’s as much of a laker as Gary Peyton and Karl Malone are in my mind. I know that isn’t actually related in any way to this video but as an ex lakers fan it saddens me to think of what he’s turned that franchise into.

  • Shaq probably would have had eight rings if stayed in Orlando. That team was championship ready and it's quite possible they could have beat Jordan and the Bulls in the playoffs again like they did in 95. It took the Lakers 4-5 years to build a team around Shaq and even then, their competition from the east wasn't that great great until they lost to the Pistons in one of those finals. That being said, it amazes me how stupid the Orlando fan base was to not realize Shaq's worth. I remember having friends that said "all he does is dunk". Even if that were true, a dunk is a score which is the goal of the game, so I don't see how saying "all a guy does is score" was ever supposed to be a criticism. Orlando should have given Shaq the deed to Disney World if that was what he wanted. Alas, it's all history now.

  • Yeah if Shaq would have stayed with the magic,it would have been no championships because magic team would have had to endure two more years of losing to the bulls before they broke up or getting beat by an up and coming pacers team, plus Penny got hurt somewhere in 98 or so and that team would have fell apart, and if he went to LA after the ealy 2000s Kobe wouldn't of had none of it but we'll never know

    • I can answer that...yes. Great point. I taught in Detroit schools for over 14 years...many while being classified as a long-term sub. The district started offering teachers with outside teaching experience up to 12 years credit on the salary scale. I asked and they said "NO" because they did not count my service years as a long-term sub. I left and immediately took a $13,000/yr raise. That new district helped me move to a district closer to home with the same pay. They were sad to see me to, but totally understood my situation. Now in a year and a half, my salary will nearly double from what I was making in Detroit when I left. Like Shaq's move from Orlando to LA, it was a business decision. On addition, it is the factor of respect, and LA gave it to Shaq where Orlando matched it only after a reactionary move...

    • listen I get ya, the teams will not match your loyalty to them but only in extraordinary circumstances like some kinda Magic Johnson/kobe/larry bird type career situation. and don't be loyal to your college either if you lose billions or millions in the nba bc you got career ending injury they won't be there to help your family! Carson Wendtz was the only guy in north dakota we got that was on the upper level of QB position in football and helped his team to the super bowl , got injured and was off his original level of play after that...luckily for him everyone was sure he was destined for greatness and he got a 200 million dollar contract....thank goodness for his family they kicked his ass to the curb!!! @@lousanto1054
