Cozy Cabin Vibes in this TINY Van | Ford Transit Connect DIY Conversion Van Tour!
Hello there! I'm Milo, and welcome to my tiny cabin on wheels! Dottie is a 2013 Ford Transit Connect that I self-built into a tiny home containing everything I need to return to full-time van dwelling in Summer 2021! I roam around with my 5-year-old Australian Shepheard, Teller (aka Tilly!), taking lots of pictures and documenting as much as I can. I decided to venture into making videos to share with you all about tiny-van-life, being on the road with a dog, travel photography, and much more!
Thank you so much for watching, Teller & I hope you tag along on our adventures in our tiny van :)

honestly, one of the best conversion ive seen in such small space
Okay Milo, you MUST publish that cute pop-up book for children! Add a few pages of Teller stories and you've got a best seller! I promise you that! I have never felt this happy after watching a van build as I do now having watched yours. What a perfect little home. Utterly inspired by how cute, cozy, and comforting it looks to be.
I attended a funeral today, and this video has been uplifting and joyful. thank you all.
Go for it! Include pictures of your travels. 🎉
l@@Michou_888
The sliding wall from the cab to the back is brilliant. So good for stealth camping without needing to leave the vehicle
My favorite part
You should see his current thow.
Well, this just takes the cake! I have literally watched hundreds of videos of van builds for the past 2 years, and I think this is the most clever one I've seen yet. This is a fine example of a well thought out and beautifully designed use of space.
Thanks for sharing your van life. Simple. Well done.
It looks beautiful, and really comfortable as well!
To say I'm impressed is an understatement. You are super organised, Milo but I don't think I've ever seen so many options emanate from such a small space. Your 'I Bought a Van' book is a work of art in itself... You are amazing...
I agree. The best DYS conversion I have seen. Milo, you should consider publishing your "I bought a van " book. It could even be considered a great children's book. I wish you the best in your travels and please be safe.👏👏
@@ameliacarrasquillo5017 I actually thought that too... Should have mentioned it! Could also teach them that 'less is often more' and that endless consumerism doesn't necessarily make for happiness whereas a simpler life with only essentials, can!
Hey man he did a wonderful job the best I have seen so in a small Van built
Kudos. An amazing achievement.
Not gonna lie, this van is its own little work of art. It's adorable!
Builds like this make me realize just how much ingenuity people have. I'm glad to hear you've built something that fits your needs and works well for you.
Swear i feel like a caveman sometimes..these ppl are frickn smart!
I have to say that, of the thousands of van life videos I’ve watched, this one is by far the most organized, and efficient, and minimalist I’ve seen, while still meeting all of a person’s needs! Just an amazing job, Milo!!! So happy for you!! YOU COULD DO THIS FOR A LIVING!! 💗🌸💕
WOW! WOW! WOW! I've watched hundreds of these van conversions and I have never seen such an organized, well-thought-out, unique, functioning, and creative space, Milo! Instant subscriber. Wishing you and Teller all the best on your adventure. Enjoy the journey!!
Thank you so much!!! 😊
Ditto! Watched 1.000’s of builds and I am the type that will be going with a much larger build but you son are a freaking genius and you have put a lot of thought and planning into your build and it really shows. Excellent job!
Also ditto! Love the book too by the way. I totally think you should publish it! Or a least make some photo copies for us to buy lol. So impressed!
@@SeekingZen4me I was thinking the same about the book, very inspiring as well.
Milo, what kind of dog is Teller? Stunningly beautiful along with your awesome van build!
Whoa, are you truly that neat, organized, talented, sweet, adorable and a dog lover plus a designer, an illustrator, a solo traveler, a photographer, a cook, a bottle washer (well dishes really), a biker, a camper, electrician, woodworker as well as IT savvy all at such a young age. By the time you're 40 seems like you will have done, seen and experienced more than most of us. Bravo, quite an excellent build. Love the decor. Love the clean simple design concept as well as the storage. Teller is beautiful and your sweet smile and soft giggle made my day. Thanks for not dragging us all through every single thing you own and where and how it's stored. I mean you showed everything but so quick and efficiently I never even thought to fast forward. In fact I wanted more so I too subscribed. Can't wait to see future videos. Thanks a bunch. Enjoy the ride, life is what you make it.
Life really is what you make it and as a 56 yr. old carpenter who's getting ready to start my own van build, I'm learning so much from this young man that I've found a new sense of excitement for the build! This is incredible and he has so much to be proud of! The only things I have that he doesn't besides a bigger van, I have the dog, 2 cats, and I can't forget my wife and all her clothes and many, many pairs of shoes and boots which she does realize she will have to downsize at some point. We are starting off with short trips until we can retire at 62 and then we are taking off! I wanted to say that your comment was so very kind and I'm glad I read it. I too, wanted more so I subscribed as well.
This is definitely in my top 5 all time favorite van builds I've seen on KZhead. Watching this made me feel cozy and comforted. I love what you have done and keeping it real simple. What a great job you've done! You've definitely given me inspiration for my next van build. Thank you for sharing!
This comment is definitely in my 9999 all time favourite comments I've seen on KZhead
@@FirstNameLastName-hahaha lmao thanks
Hey Milo and Teller! I have loved and remembered this build ever since I first saw it two years ago. Your new one takes everything you learned from Dottie and carries it all lightyears ahead. My favorite things about Dottie: front to back entry panel for both you and Teller, garage, agility of the van size, that you can get by on 100W, and your options to work inside or out on a good day. Keep doing you, Milo, because you are beautiful! Bright blessings, all. 💖
His Notebook sketch of how he wanted his van to look is so adorable. It's so well drawn and nicely put together.
His book and smile he gave when he finished showing the book made me smile❤ I love seeing people have a deep sense of pride in what they create.
Completely innovative and amazing 🤩
Yes! I am not ready to purchase the van but I can start on the notebook.
He is absolutely adorable and heartwarming 🤎
That notebook!!! I want to see a whole episode on that!
Finally someone does NOT fill half of van with huge and most of time useless bed. Foldable bed is very rare in life vans. Smart solutions.
You spend half of your life sleeping, prioritizing comfort when you live in a vehicle isn't a bad thing lol. Also foldable/Z-beds are difficult to build for a lot of people with no experience.
I watched millions of Vantours over the past years. (No joke). - Great; to have a large space and spend 100.000 dollar. But for me; This is vanlife. And the creativity is amazing !
I have also and yet to take the plunge. If I could get this, I would do it tomorrow!!,
I have never seen such a well use of space, not to mention how neat it all looks. The van seems so tiny, l am surprised at all the room you have, do to your master mind. I hope your very proud of yourself because you should be. You have a nice fur friend, take care of each other. Bless you both with safety and happy moments.
I like your soothing calm voice, and hurrah for not adding annoying music to the video, what a relief to watch in peace without ears blasted off. Your build is amazing. The Transit Connect is not only small, but can carry very little weight, so this was an exercise in minimalism. Functional and stunning interior. Bravo Milo! That little narrow table coming down was very cute and so handy, loved it. Also loved that low profile dividing wall from cab - very functional and well built. You are so organized, its enviable! Everything in its place and has a place to call home, even Tilly. Very well done! I learned a lot from your build. Bon voyage!
Agreed. Came for the van build, stayed for the kind person and sweet dog.
No music is extremely beneficial for the hearing impaired like me. Thank you!
Amen to the “no music” comment!
Did I miss something? There is music on mine....
@@seattlesauce yeah i hear it too, but it guess it's too faint for some people to hear lol
This is actually one of the best conversions I've ever seen. The side garage and the sliding door to the cab is brilliant. Also it's not over done like most conversion builds and not under done like to many of the mini van conversions. Perfectly balanced.
Great points!
👌👋👋👋👋welll done ....so neat clean and perfect
What is it you consider underdone about Minivan builds? Actually... at what point is a comfortable home considered underdone lol, that's going to vary person to person.
Overdone How is a van overdone
I'm really impressed. You've done so much with so little space. Let me add, I love how neat you are. Everything is so tidy. Finally, very cozy as the wood paneling adds a nice touch. Good job.
Oh my gosh Milo! what an amazing van build and gorgeous mini home. You have done an amazing job. Love the simplicity of your design yet you have still included all the comforts of a smaller home. Love it! 🐨
Nearly every transit build is exactly the same imho, nice to see someone try something a little different! The small garage space is a really smart idea!
Tbh this is all too true. However my particular sense says it should be condensable to the trunkspace entirely in one form or another. I use toolboxes and am currently oversize due to converting to winter form. Mostly fuel for the heater and simple excess... Grandma's hoarding habits passed down once she died I guess....
This has got to be the nicest Transit Connect build I've ever seen.
Wow, you're such a sweet and authentic person, it was a real pleasure to hear you talk and to see your beautiful home, thank you so much for showing it!
The best laid out and craftmanship I have seen yet on a small van like this. The cherry on top for me was the "garage." So well done. I hope you and your adorable pup are still enjoying or got maximum use and enjoyment out of this build. Great job.
Rad!!! I love the pull out kitchen. And the garage. And the pocket wall. WHAT? Pocket wall is such a good idea. I really like the way your brain works. So many unique/clever solutions. You should be proud!
This is the BEST conversion of one of these smaller vans I have seen! Wow. You are very creative and clever!
It's impressive how you have utilized such a small space. Wishing you and Teller safe journeys and memorable adventures.
Milo - WOW! I’m like others who have watched a bazillion van conversions and am blown away by what you were able to fit into such a small space and with such beautiful aesthetic too. Way to go! 👍🏽
The earnestness and sincerity you deliver is so refreshing, like this wasn’t some foofy art project to vent some misdirected angst, but a real home that you built for you and your best friend to really live in, yet enjoy thoroughly. The practicality is over the moon. Best can build video I’ve ever seen, hands down, no exaggeration. Please keep doing what you’re doing! Thank you so much for this gift!
Wow! Just wow! I've seen a ton of transit connect conversions and yours is hands down the very best. Every detail is exquisite, down to your sketch book and that perfect pastel camp stove. Dottie is truly a piece of art. If you ever decide to do van conversions as a business I'm sure you won't have a shortage of customers. And Teller is the perfect van buddy of course. Bravo.
I loved the book, too!
This is actually the best build I’ve ever seen. So perfectly organized and well planned out. It’s perfect. I’ve seen a million I love it so much. Thank you for sharing. You could make money helping people w their layouts. I’d pay you. For sure
Having had a wide variety of camper set ups, from slide in truck camper & 5th wheels to lifted vans & hatchback cars, I can relate to the maneuverability of smaller vehicles mentioned in this video. They can pack all you need to enjoy your journey, allow you to get in the spots you want to be and all while keeping down the cost. I’d add this, having a camper van doesn’t have to be full time either, you can go for weekends, weeks, months or more, what ever calls you, it’s an immeasurable freedom.
I admire humble people and you are absolutely a great person. Wish you the best on your adventures on your van..be safe 🙏 God bless you
I never ever write a comment (ok, maybe 2 times). After watching hundreds of conversion videos and then seeing your fantastic design and implementation, how could I not. SailorGirl said it well, I’ll just add one more WOW! Most impressive. Yes, you should be very proud. And the video itself was very well done.
You SHOULD be proud. I did my own van and I've watched tons of vids and, I have to say, this is one of the most well thought out designs I have ever seen. Fits your needs perfectly. Makes me think about my next van and making it even more specialized for my needs. Thanks for sharing and good luck on your journeys!
Most optimized van space I ever seen. Awesome
Milo, Not sure if I’ve ever written a comment before, but for you I must. You are an amazing person. So thoughtful, clever, and smart. Your van should be the standard, against which other vans should be measured. Simple perfection. I found myself taking a deep relaxing breath as you took us on the tour. Please find all that you need in your adventures. And give a big old hug to your sweet dog. Thank you so much for sharing.
I pray that a beautiful wife would join you and Taylor one day 🎉❤
More and more are starting to appreciate being single or alone or with just a pet, clutter free from the mind
You’ve done such a good job making it cozy in your tiny van! It looks very appealing despite being so small.
Like everyone else, I am completely blown away. This is the best van build I’ve seen. I love how organized and tidy it is. You are a person after my own heart. And no frivolous decorations or collectibles . Just like I like it. Neat and tidy will be my legacy,so this video is my favorite. Quite lovely.
Wow, hats off. Might just be one of the most, if not *the* most intelligent single-person builds ive ever seen
Your van is sheer perfection. Like others have stated, I have looked at hundreds of Van Life videos. Yours is totally organized in a charming way. And your affection and care for Teller is truly marvelous. Please give us more videos! .
This is one of the best uses of space I think I’ve seen in a van
I must say, been watching Bob Wells and others for years so I've seen a lot of these builds and yours is one of the best I've seen. Impressed.
This video feels like a warm hug for all of us dreaming about our next van adventure ❤️
Just amazing. This smile you have when you speak about how you feel to live in this van is so genuine and thinking it's a DIY van, I'm speechless.
I've watched hundreds of these van conversions and I think yours is my favorite. It's just so very practical and functional! I love the simplicity. I've never commented on a van build video before but there's something about yours that is so inspiring!
I saw your video 2. years ago when it first posted and was so impressed! Every once in a while, I come back and rewatch it because it warms my heart - and you seem like such a kind soul that it makes my heart smile to watch you living your dream.
Just … PERFECT! Congratulations! After watching about a million of those van built, this is about the most space efficient, well thought, cosy built I have seen so far… and the idea of putting the garage on the side is just pure genius!
Amazing attention to detail! Perfect blend of form and function. The most efficient van build I have ever seen!
Been watching sooo many van builds, but this one really connected and I just absolutely have to say how lovely this was to watch. A lot of videos that are promoted tend to be van builds on larger scales and more on the ‘luxury’ side of it, which is totally fine obviously, but something is always missing for me. This feels practical, honest, and pure. And seeing the rack of your sketchbooks/ other books, and then actual sketches of your van build inspiration was just precious. That alone made this my favorite van build video.
This is ingenious!!! Your design is amazing. Your organization inspiring. And your smile is infectious! Thank you so much for sharing and welcoming us to your home. Looking forward to more videos! :)
Thank you! I really appreciate your kind words :)
@@milomeloy It's true, you're a great personality for presenting! You should pursue being in front of the camera in the capacity that fits you.
You deserve a design award for this brilliant build!
Thank you Milo. I agree with all those who said this is the best, cutest, homeliest van build we’ve seen. Have a great time with your pretty dog. Keep safe. Deb from Oz
I LOVE this van design. It definitely has that cabin feel. Your dog is so adorable. Great job
The garage on the side is genius. Love the pocket door, and the true "room" in the back. The most perfect conversion I've ever seen, and I am only looking at the small ones from now on! Instant fan of you, Dottie, and your sweet pup. Roll on!
How did you do this build!! It is absolutely awesome!!! You are so organized!! Did you build or did you have help?? Ever thought of building other ones to sell?? Please let me know. I subscribed so will be following!!! Genius build I love it!! I love Teller too. Hope to hear from you. Happy travels!!
@@catherinefirestone8299 you might want to put this on the main comment section instead of a reply to someone you aren't even replying to. You might want to be more conscious of what you're doing as well. 😁👍
Yes, I saw that great lovely Tiny-Van, and then you showed your garage *awesome*
@@Renee-rw7un You have issues.
I actually said BOOYAH to the garage
talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular
🥰🥰🥰
Everything Alyssa said! I want this van so f**king bad. The only things missing for me are a small toaster oven and an indoor way to shower.
agreed to all.... but weirdly, i cannot stop wondering about the block of cheddar on the dashboard 😮. i mean, as a cheese lover myself, this guy is so genius, there must be an amazing reason for it that no one ever told me about!
@@nonyabizness.original hahah it is a stress-squeeze-toy that just looks like a block of cheese :) I use it to stop hand cramps when driving for long periods of time, or when I'm bored in traffic haha.
@@milomeloy lol!! well, mystery solved, and i'm not missing out on some amazing cheese hack 🤣. you are brilliant, take a bow.
Smart build, no flashiness...its attention to functionality gives it its own cuteness
Wow you have managed to have everything you need in such a small space and without it looking crowded or messy. Everything has a place. I absolutely live the book! You are so creative!
This is one of the tiniest vans I’ve ever seen, but also the most well organized. Love it!
This is the best conversion I have ever seen! So practical, functional, and feels homey. I could happily live in this!
This is so ergonomically designed; being such a small cargo van, the utilization of space is superb! Thanks for sharing, follow your dream and be careful out there 🫡
Milo, this is one of the most ingenious builds that I have seen yet. You have more things incorporated into your build that larger vehicles do not. You have given me so many ideas for my up-coming van build and I thank you for sharing this video with us. Take care my friend and I will continue to watch and support your content, brother.
Best ever van tour, Milo. I'm going to shut off my computer now, so I can keep this happy happy mood for the rest of the evening -- maybe I'll go out and sit on the deck and just listen to the evening. Congratulations! Can't wait to see your next videos!
Lorraine that is such a lovely comment, I agree, Milo has made a lively light-hearted and informative vlog that has so much charm and is soothing to the soul😀
Hello is campervan
I know this is a year later, you may not read it, but if you do, I must say that is an exceptional conversion. I watched amazed at your tiny kitchen area, and then your efficient office area, and a bed that hides your fridge, that slides out to become an outdoor cooking area. And then you made a garage! You have a gift if problem solving that is amazing. Certainly you could help others convert their van homes into something spectacular as well. I really enjoyed your video. I will move to the future and see what you are doing now.
He seems so sweet. Cute dog. Nice build. Different than I've seen!
I've been planning and working on my minivan for 4 years now... and keep coming back to THIS EXAMPLE. Thanks Milo, for giving such great ideas. I've had to tweak a few, using what I have. I've finished many parts, but still have a ways to go. I would love an e-bike, but have a wheelchair instead. I still want an e-bike, though. I think I would have so much more freedom, and you are the one who gave me that idea. Blessings. I love your kind way, & your laugh. See you down the road...
That sliding wall is a great idea, good job.
When I first saw this and read that it was a connect I didn’t believe it. But this is AMAZING!! I thought it was a high roof regular Ford transit.
That was absolutely exceptional! One of the best conversions and layouts, organizations, capitalization on space! Thank you for sharing your expertise and great Van, Dottie and you and Teller!
I'm blown away! Thank you for sharing your home and giving us so much to think about.
I loved that van-build scrapbook. This is the best tiny van build I’ve seen! Congratulations, you are rightly proud of your accomplishment.
Such fantastic use of space that you never see in a 'professional' conversion. No 'dead' space. You've put so much thought into it and ended up with the van that does exactly what you want and need it to do. I love the garage! No wonder you're proud of it; you should be.
I was so impressed by the build, but, above all, I was moved by your warmth. God bless you and Teller!
This is the best ever small campervan I have seen and also the best video presentation. The van was perfectly presented and the presenter was very humble. I hope every one learns from you.
12:34 omg the notebook is genius!! your home is absolutely stunning you are a prime example of how limitations can produce so much creativity c:
So true!
Oh my goodness! You got me within the first 10 seconds. Your design is so well thought out, the video walkthrough is great, and you and Teller are so sweet, authentic, and kind. But most of all it makes me happy to know you are on the planet; the world is a better place because of your thoughtfulness. I'm glad you've started this channel and wish you much happiness along the road. Your journal design book is delightful! I will enjoy following you. All the best!
I love the journal book as well! You are so talented.
This is one of the best and organized build outs for a small van that I've ever seen. Well done! 👍👍👍
I love your tiny van too. A lot of times, smaller is better. Congratulations. Live well, and be happy.
I literally gasped when you opened the garage. Omg how did you fit so much in a Transit connect? I love this layout so much 😍
I was not expecting it either. Amazing surprise
The garage space wasn't obvious and got me by surprise. Well done Milo, you really have everything you need. Also the bike space, well thought out.
everything about this build was perfectly thought out if you ever converted vans into a buissness people would travel for miles for you brilliant work
I absolutely agree.
What a fabulous build! But! 👀 Teller! That face! What a perfect travel companion 🥹🫶🏼🦋💜
This is the BEST build in a small connect I've seen thus far!!!
You should be proud! This is an incredible build (and I’ve been watching a lot of transit connect builds on KZhead over the years). I cannot fathom how you both managed to fit so much in without it feeling cramped AND do it with such finesse and charm. Well done!
This is like Tetris on steroids. I'm impressed with all of these van conversions, and folks being able to make use of every single inch of space. This is my favorite design yet!
Seriously, I love that dog !!!! You are blessed. The living quarters are amazing too.
Inspirational video, for when I look at it I see that things are put together with what look like random reats that is not sawed straight or sanded down to perfection, it is what I can do and I now kono it can look nice and charmy, I seen so many tiny homes and live-cars that look futuristic perfect and I always get the feeling I would never be able to do something like that, but this video gave me hope and inspiration to go for it. Thank you.
This is a ‘clown car’ van conversion! When you opened up the side door to show off your garage, my chin dropped! Can’t get over how much you were able to fit in ! I love how you showed your planning book for the van - you could probably do a whole video in that (if you haven’t already) to show how you figured everything out
ME TOO!!!!! I was like…wait….a garage? But how’d he….oh wow that’s how he…..LOL!!!! Then he pulled out a bike!!!! From under the dog bed!!! This is so nice!
What a brilliant, well thought out design. Practical and Smart. Thanks for showing.
This actually brought tears to my eyes. So simple, elegant and at the same time magnificently efficient. Take care Milo and Teller. Happy travels.
You cried because of a van review? ....my word.
This was a very touching video for some reason made by a person who seems to be the nicest human being you would ever meet. He was forced to do this out of necessity without any prior experience and created the best Transit Connect out there. I didn't cry but I know why she did.
@@carolhewett3756 Absolutely agree 100% Hands down, the best small build I’ve ever seen and such a lovely, touching video. 😍
At first, I thought u overreacted but when he brought out the e-bike, I got misty eyed too!
@@ownTer It's not about the van, it's that he's attained freedom & beauty.
First saw this van with Bob. Still one of my absolute favorites. Nicely done!
Practical, easy, cozy.. Great job. I am very impressed with your choice of style and effort. High Five 3:56
This is the most amazing design for such a small van!! The use of the side door as a garage??? Genius!! AND having multiple shower options, not just "camp grounds". I love it!!
YES!!!! Genius. Lov it....
I must have missed the shower options. I'm also curious about the toilet he mentioned. A bathroom seems to be the most challenging thing about van life, and I've seen people say they just dig a hole or use a bag. That is very polluting, especially if it's near someone's fresh water supply, and it doesn't belong in the garbage. There is reason we have sanitation, so I hope his toilet respects that as well. I'm not a fan of showering outdoors as a solution; soap encourages growth of weeds and algae. Again, there is a reason we have sanitation. Otherwise I really like this van and think he's made an excellent use of the space.
@@Dain75 nature safe biodegradeable soaps etc are what people usually use. You can dispose of solid waste into trash can if bagged properly. Many also use biodegradable bags made for the purpose. Ever seen how a water sanitation plant makes your sewer water potable....chemicals that are supposedly safe. And how many treatments are necessary to change sewer liquid into potable water?? Most trash receptacles are emptied regularly.
Agree with everyone else-your use of space and sense of design are top notch!
I have to say. This is one of the better bills I have seen and it is most comprehensive
One of the slickest conversions among ALL van sizes. Very creative use of small van constraints, congrats!
This is the best tiny layout I have ever seen!Your garage, your working space, your kitchen, your sliding door inside!oh my! ✨
This is the most efficient use of space I have everrrrr seen. Brilliant 👏
Tidy, organized, efficient, cozy and AMAZING!
wow this is by far one of the most organized, sense making home on wheels i’ve seen.
This is by far the very best of the best van builds I've seen , I'm bowled over how you fitted so much in it, and then you top it all off with a pop-up book! I think the choices you made, such as no side entrance, no passenger seat etc, are so well thought through and the advantages you've gained as a result speak for themselves. I did spot one opportunity you missed - the drop down table on the rear door could have doubled as a chess board - you just need to teach teller to play first.
