Ghostbusters was a massive success in 1984, but it took more than half a decade for the world to get a second one! Why? I don’t know. That information is probably available on Google. Reasons, presumably.
Ghostbusters 2 definitely raises some questions. Like did they just redo every beat of the first movie but slightly different? Is Venkman even a Ghostbuster or are we just following his love life? And most importantly, how did everyone forget that ghosts exist?!
To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Ghostbusters 2!

    • Yeah this is the sloppiest pitch meeting I’ve ever seen. Usually all his points are right on the money but so many are off here. He totally half assed this one. Like the whole “aren’t they famous from the first movie” when the movie totally shows they are still famous! The opening scene has them at a birthday party. Crowds cheering for them at court. Just because a few characters don’t recognize them or don’t believe in ghosts doesn’t mean EVERYONE feels that way. Think of the world we live in. We went to the moon and like 40% of people think it was faked. Shit some people believe the world is flat! Just because people see something doesn’t mean they believe it,

Summoning ghosts, making people angry, making people euphoric, making a toaster dance, animating the statue of liberty, defeating a wizard, changing a painting, those are all miracles. What's especially astonishing is that given that his mother was possessed, made out with Louis while possessed, then turned into a demon-dog, then back again, it doesn't seem like it would be that hard to come up with a reason for this baby to be the one picked. Just say the baby was altered by the paranormal incident his mom experienced, so it has special qualities other babies don't. Boom. Solved. Also, the Scolari brothers reminded me of Waldorf and Statler for some reason.

    • Louis and Dana could've conceived the baby when they were Terror Dogs. (They'd have to change it so the movie takes place not too long after the first one instead of five years, or just have Oscar be five.) There's even a deleted scene from the first movie where Louis asks Dana if they "did it" when they were both dogs. Dana tells him "no", but she could've been lying.

      @KasumiKenshirou@KasumiKenshirou26 күн бұрын
    • @@KasumiKenshirou In fact, it would have been in-character for her to lie about something like that. I agree that would have been an even stronger connection, though as you point out, they'd have to change the timeline a tad to make it work. • Definitely. Everything down in the tunnels was pretty creepy

  • "5 years is a long time, sir. People forget stuff." Was at an event last thursday that seemed to have completely forgotten covid ever happened because there was zero consideration for personal space or social distancing in the way it was set up.

  • I saw this movie before the first one when I was a kid and I love it. For nostalgia reasons, I prefer this over the first

    • I think it topped the first in many ways. So underrated

    • It may not be as quotable as the first one but I also prefer this one. I can’t help but love the Statue of Liberty section. That music is so upbeat and positive. I adore it. On a side note, I had NEVER before noticed that the ghost nanny was also Peter MacNicol! (He is also part of why I love this movie.)

  • I am glad you made this Pitch Meeting because when I was a teenager and originally saw the movie in the theater, I was so upset by that garbage. People hated the 2016 movie, but the IP had already been ruined!

  • I would like you to do a Pitch Meeting where you revisit a pitch meeting you just did. Like, next week, look back at this video and determine what you'd do differently with the experience you've gained since you made the original.
