In 2018, I went to Kolkata, Varanasi, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur in North India. The filthy cities, the animals on the streets and the extreme poverty of some people shocked me. The only city that is not dirty is Udaipur. There are many animals in Indian cities. Cows are wandering on the road, and monkeys are often seen. I think the most frightening thing is the large number of stray dogs on the streets. After I got off the taxi in Agra (the city where the Taj Mahal is located), I was chased by a bunch of crazy dogs for more than 100 meters, I swear it was the fastest run in my life. It is undeniable that India has made progress, and the scenic spots and new urban areas are not bad, but Indians still have a lot to do.

Being poor is not the point or issue anyone should mock on...but being neat and clean, tidy and hygiene is something that is all in your hands. Even if you are poor, you can have bath in the bathrooms instead of in the streets, you can keep yourself clean, keep the streets clean as well, keep your house look good. Very desperate. You are very correct. There are many countries with lower gdp than india like Kazakhstan Azerbaijan Georgia they are not mega rich but very clean and modern. I dont think this has to do with education, it's about mentality and brought culture. Be any officer in india educated and rich he would litter and spit on ground. Just because it's common there. I have been to India and its filled with slums, dirt, dirty rivers Pakistan was cleaner though but there was gun violence in Pakistan and less women on the street. However it was clean

Pakistan is cleaner this but we have no industry either. We just have open roads and grass everywhere. The GDP for Pakistan is $200 billion. I think Elon Musk has more money than all of our country. Its definitely much cleaner than India but there is nothing there to visit. We have nice mountains and valleys though.

Living in poverty doesn't mean living in dirt. I have seen poverty in Soviet Baltic states, we still had enough to eat and we kept everything clean and orderly even in our old farmhouse. As long as you have skills and you are smart enough you don't have to live in cesspit. I do wish best for the Indians, but they need to have right attitude.
