The hilariously outlandish and tank-loving KZheadr Lazerpig came to see us recently. Not only did he pick out his Top 5 Tanks from our collection… but he honoured us with his very first on-camera appearance. Neither will disappoint!

And they knew they could not replicate it as good as it should be, but they had a bunch of tanks that would be prime material for this sort of comedy. so they got the only man capable of doing it justice, lazerpig himself. Does not matter if you have the best tank in the world if you can get it off the little island it was built on (not talking about the UK here but more the small island on the river where some idiot put a tank factory on and now gets informed that the bridges can´t take the tank you just built. It does not matter if your tank is the best if it have the maintenance requirments of 20 hour of maintenence per 1 hour of driving. vs the US sherman that I think was like 4 per hour or so.

The Matilda II wasn't a terrible tank. It was just a dead-end design - too small, underpowered, undergunned - with no capacity to have its flaws ironed out. People tried, but it was just easier to design a new tank altogether. However, the Matilda was in its element when it was allowed to move slowly and bully tanks smaller than itself, because under such conditions it was basically invincible. In the dense jungle terrain of Pacific islands, the Japanese hated it because their usual anti-tank weapons and tactics were almost useless against it.

The only difference is they weren't available in 1939. The reason it continued to serve throughout the duration of the war is every army used old tank designs throughout the war. • I've never heard of this guy, but he does a great job of imitating every comic book and hobby store commando I've ever met. His comments about the Pentagon reformists are spot-on.

  • I've had a bias against lazerpig for a while, but when he talked about the sherman, overall I agreed. I would also argue on a versatility front, since it was able to be outfitted and become basically everything, it only took some ingenuity to mod (as shown by the concrete armor shermans, jumbos, fireflies, the list goes on), however, what he said was correct from everything I know

  • To be fair, during the Gulf War the M60 also performed flawlessly, with only one tank lost to enemy action.

    • That says more about the crews and circumstances than the tanks themselves. The US bombed all the Iraqi command centers. The Iraqi army was effectively blind, deaf and uncoordinated.
