Funny how people like to disregard Godzilla (2014) but it laid the groundwork for the Monsterverse and here we are revisiting the beginning of it all again.
Ngl I do miss the tone 2014 had cause the mv now especially with the leaks of Godzilla x Kong feels like a modern day Showa series. Kinda glad this show kinda goes back to that more serious tone

So let me get this straight, Monarch is a secret organization that somehow covers up the fact that there's giant 400ft monsters that regularly attack major cities across the globe killing tens of thousands of people and causing hundreds of millions in damage every time an event occurs. Even though there's thousands of eye witnesses, news coverage, video footage, and military involvement that acknowledges these monsters? Monarch must have one hell of a PR Team. 😂
Monsters are public knowledge in universe. Whole world knows. Nobody knows where they came from, how long they been around or why they started popping up.

I feel like Monarch is there to try and discover why the monster are there and why they keep coming back and to ultimately protect themselves and even defending themselves from them.
I think the reason monarch covers up about the monster is because of Environmental Insurance. since it is so expensive in fixing the damage the monsters cause.
Monarch is an insurance inspection agency.
This show obviously isn't meant to be an all-out monster brawl like the MonsterVerse movies. This is 100% supplemental material meant to expand on the series' worldbuilding and lore, which I'm completely down for as long as it's engaging and decently written. Out of all the MonsterVerse movies so far, Godzilla vs. Kong had the least amount of worldbuilding and honestly felt like it was trying to distance itself from the expanded universe (which is somewhat understandable considering the lackluster performance of Godzilla King of the Monsters), so this is a very welcome improvement in that regard and I'm honestly hoping this is indicative of how Legendary will be approaching future MonsterVerse installments moving forward.
I don’t like the tv installments idea. Just give us movies with good plots and characters. Studios aren’t making complete products anymore. I resent setup so much at this point. Cameos and post credit scenes are great but to make an entire series…..🙄
We got this show and minus one for it's Japanese release in November/December 1st for us and Godzilla x Kong in April 12. Such a great time to be a kaiju fan 🎉🥳🎊
as fun as the subsequent godzilla movies have been, this is really what i'd much rather see - the unraveling of a mystery, the lore, and conspiracy surrounding the monsters
After that ant hill reference I am now imagining Godzilla getting out a giant magnifying glass and burning crowds of people alive just because he's bored.

Real godzilla fans already understand the premise of the show. No godzilla movie really have alot of godzilla in them. In the movies its like 10-15 mins of screen time. Too much of him would be like too much of shark in jaws. Too much aliens in aliens take away the atmosphere and oversaturated. I cant wait for this show.

One of my favorite Godzilla, might even be my favorite, is Shin Godzilla and that movie made the human characters and the politics the main characters and central point. Godzilla is just a walking and living natural disaster, like earthquakes. People complain about Americans putting "woke" politics in everything, but Japan loves putting politics in their monster and robot stuff. Gundam and Godzilla are big examples of this.
Have you watched actual japanese monster movies? First off those movies were shorter, but even then the screen time for Godzilla was usually double what we got in the american movies. Aliens and the shark in jaws are horror movie monsters. Godzilla is 90% of the time about action, with the best movies giving characterization to him either as a villain turned hero or a tragic antihero. GVK got it right and made the big bucks but it seems they are going back to the pretentious beginnings of the monsterverse where the movie is mostly about bland uninspired characters running around talking.

I still think the 98” Zilla has a fire soundtrack with dat P Diddy song sampled from Led zeppelin and the wallflowers sample of David Bowie’s heroes and the Jay Kay song Deeper Underground. Godzilla 2014 was so good, Godzilla V Kong was fun!
After the Minus One trailer came out, I can’t look at the legendary Godzilla the same anymore, he doesn’t look like Godzilla. The Minus One Godzilla is perfect looking, even the charred skin is on point 👌
Honestly it sounds like a great show, tbh I do not expect Godzilla to show up much, being a lifelong kaiju fan Im used to Godzilla not getting a whole lot of screentime. On average he gets between 8-15 minutes in the movies. I really am most interested to see how mankind adapts to now living in a world where god like creatures exist, the overall lore behind this fictional universe, and getting some action sequences with the new titans we were shown, especially that Cthulhu like Titan that can freeze people and the Dragon like kaiju bursting out of the ship. I don't mind monsters not getting so much screentime so long as the humans are interesting. I loved 2014, but my only gripes really were just the constant cutting away and the characters did not feel interesting much. I think at least Honolulu could have been a fight scene with Godzilla and the Muto or at least show half of a fight sequence then show the aftermath instead of showing Godzilla then cutting out what could have been a great fight scene just to show the aftermath. Not only that but outside of Joe and Serizawa, the rest of the characters were boring. I personally enjoyed Kotm's characters more than 2014's, they just seemed more fun and enjoyable to me when the kaiju were not on screen. But overall the show does sound interesting, i hope the characters are engaging, the Titan scenes are action packed or terrifying. And lastly Godzilla gets his time to shine when he does show up.

Korey needs to understand that just because some plots take their time in building out their narratives , it doesn’t necessarily equate to “pacing problems” or “being slow”…not all viewers are impatient, and not all have an ADD watch-style.

I'm here to say that we got new different monsters every episode so far, I'm up to the latest #3. There is definitely a good amount of human vs kaiju and how it effects the humans mentally & psychologically, good ptsd stuff here..

Actually, I think this is good marketing. You already HAVE the Godzilla fans flocking to theatres to see monsters on the big screen! Not everyone is going to be into that. But get the people who AREN'T Godzilla fans interested in the story & the human characters and they are more likely to go to the movies. They want to create new fans. They could never take the time in a movie to develop character. Monster fans always bitch about how much time is spent on human characters, saying they are there to see monsters destroy things & fight each other & don't care about any human characters or storyline. So put that stuff in a TV show for a broader audience to see it.
Hopefully; the Hollow Earth will be explored little bit more .

I both agree and disagree with the idea brought up in the video about a show that doesn't focus on the monsters, that it will try to make us care about unknown humanchatacters. If ur a fan that only cares about the monsters I can see being disappointed with a human driven show about Monarch. However, Godzilla movies have never just been about the monsters. Every Godzilla movie features human characters doing stuff while the monsters are in the background destroying stuff. The focus of these stories is generally humans caused the monsters and they must live with the consequences of their actions. That is the focus of most Godzilla movies, and a lot of them are great films. You can absolutely have a Godzilla movie with too much human focus (looking at you Final Wars), but to complain that a TV show in a Godzilla universe should focus more on the monsters and not the human characters just misses what is a vital component to any Godzilla/Kaiju film. I'm also biased, tho, cuz I'm already invested in this Godzilla universe and am stoked to learn more about Monarch.

Y’all do understand this about the lore and uncovering the secrets behind monarch and all these monsters. hints the name monarch legacy of monsters.😂 But, I’m totally fine with story telling of humans if the characters are on a more serious tone. Unlike the previous sequels.

They already gave you GvK which had the weakest human plot with no character developments at all, with most screen time going to Kong and Godzilla. Some of us prefer to have a real plot though. You don't have to watch it...
