Lots of good tips and unusual situations in this one. Thank you Bjarne!
I enjoy watching Bjarne work. It brings back memories of when I used to fall old growth douglas fir in southern oregon. It was mandatory we had a big saw and long bars on steep ground for the huge trees. You're right, they get extremely heavy, but they also save a lot of the extra cutting of windows or using spring boards to be able to reach the far side and cut the holding wood up. We also did a lot of jacking to save the trees since many of the big trees would have 30,000 board feet in them. I had bars that were 42" 50", 60" and 72" that I used sometimes and still couldn't quite reach the far side. We worked 6 hiur days and sometimes 3 or 4 trees took all day. A tank of gas to fall 1 tree and 2 tanks to buck them. Would burn 2 gallons of gas on 3 or 4 trees. There were many one log loads in those days. Nowadays, they cut the second growth that is 15 to 30" in diameter because they have pretty much outlawed cutting of old growth. The county I live in used to be the timber capitol of the world. More volume of timber came from this county than anywhere else. Now, most of the sawmills around here have been dismantled.
that is a powerful saw to run 72"
Great Job 👍
That was super cool. I had to rewatch that first tree. The noise was fantastic.
You should smell the smells, even better. That was music, noise is the sound of one going into a stump.
@PaulHodgson-gm6lg I have smelled the smells and saw some massive trees hit the ground.
I would come up and be your camera man but I've got a wandering spirit and I would have to see what was up those draws and over those ridges. Thanks again for the video.
Both Trees 🌳 Loud Crash 😮😮
Nice
Awesome job Bjarne!
Man, would it suck to get pinched deep in that window. Some day Bjarne is going to have to list his videos under an educational format. :>) I perceive in the far future, some Sherlock Holmes tree huggers are going to wonder in their great game of Clue(lessness)... Who killed all those ancient trees, murder weapon and motive? This is what they'll find. Killer: The Butler did it Weapon: Husky 572 - 36" blade Motive: Awesomeness 🤣
Awesome man! Wow that is impressive skills ! Wow it is something
Good stuff Bjarne, beautiful country and weather to boot. Is that a Walkerized Husky?
Ill take camera man lessons...so I can see that LIVE ! HAHAHAHAHA
New saplings are planted by tree planters
I'll be your camera man dude, and operate a drone
Well no wonder it went you let allot of sawdust out of the first one , look like plenty more large ones on a ledge . take care
Boy some kinda homade slide hammer deal to hook pieces of wood in the window and break them out be neat…
👋🏻
That was awesome. You've probably answered this question a hundred times. Are those straps to prevent the trees from splitting? If so, it seems like they should be bigger.
Yes. They can work surprisingly well
Kayu nya besar barnya coba pakai bar panjang lagi , biar gabruk😊
Just wondering after all the wood is collected do they replant or just leave it to nature and if that do the trees come back
It's BC they plant within a year
Where is your radio? I see you have the mike on your collar but the belt bag is empty??
