  • I'm tired of seeing so called tree houses that are just houses on stilts leaning against a tree but this is a true treehouse masterpiece !!!

I'm a tower climber in the states and I'm getting anxiety watching you work that close to a leading edge with out your harness on. Be careful please!

  • Thank you guys in showing me a new way to build steps up to my tree house. I am living off the grid and had a ramp steps up that is hooked on to a hand winch to pull them up at night to keep us safe from bears and mountain lions from getting up to the tree house. But now you gave me a better idea to make it safer to get up to the treehouse and to keep beats and mountain lions out. Thank you for your videos

    @anthonymalliris2089@anthonymalliris20895 ай бұрын
    • Bears and mountain lions can both climb trees easily. You need to wrap the tree with something sharp and pokey that will make it impossible for animals to climb up past. Only that way will you be safe upstairs.

    • That wont keep either from climbing up, in fact may make it easier. Regardless he effectively killed that tree by "ringing it" and destroying it's cambium phloem layer.

    • @@rcwatt9997I was wondering about this. I am building a treehouse, but I was worried that putting too many large bolts/screws on a tree would kill it so my treehouse uses 3 trees for support and my stairs are totally detached from the trees and just go from ground to the base. His winding stairs do look better and are cool, but they seem a little unsafe and are asking a lot of that tree.

  • Does the fact that the tree is probably dead not concern you. I would think that the wind factor might be concerning. I would run some support wires from the platform to nearby trees as a precautionary measure. I have built a treehouse or two and I always built in living trees and built stairs and platforms to get up to the deck. Be careful..

I would have used treated timber though, especially on the stairs, bigger and more supports and not built it in a dead tree, other than that, it really is excellent. Just be careful , as other people have pointed out, it won't last because the tree is dead, the roots could be rotting as we speak .

  • I am one who always likes making sure there is extra safety backup, so maybe look into getting steel handles (as seen on kitchen cabinets) and drill them into the tree going up the stairs, so you've another place to hold onto in case the railing gives out in the future? Of course a safety harness attached to a steel cable hooked up at the top would also be good to have on when going up or down stairs.

If untreated wood gets to experience the full extent of the elements, while being put under pressure regularely the hardened screws holding it togeather has a safe lifespan of like 3 to 5 years. If you have hard winters then maybe as low as 1 to 3 years, after that the risk of them snapping on you will be very real. Please be careful, we need more guys like you, not less!

  • I would have grafted a variety of fruit tree branches as your risers going up the steps. In a few years they will bond to the tree and you will have an endless amount of fruits to pick on the way up those stairs. If the fruits matured and fell to the ground you'd have a few choices about what's for dinner. Of course, keep the cross-bow up top ready for action.

  • Seriously, unless I missed some major steel cable support system for the tree, those roots are decaying out as fast as the canopy. Might stand for another year or it might fall next week. You are now adding wind sail and weight to a compromised tree. This is not a good idea. 25 year arborist speaking.

  • I appreciate the design of the spiral staircase, but it would be improved by incorporating a dedicated landing instead of an open hole in the floor entry. A floor entry style proves inconvenient, especially when carrying items during entry or exit. A dedicate stair landing would enhance both safety and functionality, providing a more practical solution compared to the current setup, which seems better suited for a child's treehouse.
