Check out the followup video where I painted the 38(T)! kzhead.info/sun/aaZsk7FtqaV7f6s/bejne.htmlsi=LS4JF15ePCTMQpv0
I like that the 38(t) is actually a Czech designed and produced tank that the Germans commandeered and used after they took over Czechoslovakia. It was a fun little tank to use in World of Tanks.
Paint the Merkava.
The 38t indicates a Tschechisch of 1938, ie czech.
One of my favorites in WoT too. Always a favorite from the history. #8t was very reliable so they did alot with the chassis. Love all the TDs Marders and hetzer
@@dialwright So, that's what the (t) means. Very nice.
@@slimslamfl I find that I was more eager to get my hands on the German TDs than a Tiger or Panther.
Now that's what I call a hobby shop. It's been a long time since Ive seen a store so well stocked, and I just loved your infectious enthusiasm while walking round the store. I think I would have had a similarly hard time in choosing something to take home. Fun choice though.
Thank you so much!
I would have skipped the 38 t and gone with PZ II to go with the 3 and 4. I'm building the PZ VI-E commonly known as the Tiger I. You may want to go with the simpler 38 t for painting first. You could get bogged down in all the choices in how to finish the Merkava.
Gotta visit, you'll be looking for hours once you walk in their door!
I did not think places like that existed any more.
Wow, wow!
I admit that I didn't click to see a plastic model kit being built. Neverthless, I wasn't disappointed.
😆
Shame on you
?
Paint the smaller Panzer tank! Looks fun and would be interested in seeing what color scheme you go with!
Panzergrau, lol
Nice! and great to see a lady hobbyist with a lot of enthusiasm 👍
I am very glad Im not the only woman to be building 1/35 scale armor and i been doing it 40 years (my mother used to build shop displays for hobby shops to), you rock!
That's awesome!
I wish there was more woman scale model builders, that's just totally awesome knowing you are out there!!!
My mother used to build plastic scale model cars, especially the 1920 and 30 era cars she did a Fantastic job.
Ditto
Love the 38(t). Looks almost like a cartoon tank next to late war tanks. A buddy of mine is big into miniatures wargaming. He has HUGE collections of miniature vehicles, in different scales, most of which he built and painted himself.
What a fantastic nostalgic trip back to childhood when I used to browse the model shops and dribble at the stacks and stacks of model kits, most of which I couldn't afford
Ikr, can't remember how many hours I and some friends just spent drooling in those shops as a kid :)
Now I still can't afford them!
I love how excited you are
What a fantastic shop and such a helpful owner.
Enjoyable video as many of the content creators are so advanced its not much use to a beginner. Thank you!
Woah, what a great shop! That’s not too far from me, need to pop in and check it out. Thanks for posting up their info Angela!
Turned out great!
Now that is a proper model shop! I used to live in San Leandro when I was in the States, great little place.
So cool to see a youtuber give some airtime to my favorite hobby shop!!!
You are a very good builder. Great idea in heating the pliers to assemble the tracks on the Merkava.
I'm in San Leandro at least 3 times a week for the past 5 years and NEVER knew of this place !!!! Thank you for sharing just that bit !
This is my go to place when I need to buy scale models. Awesome place, and awesome episode. Thank you for sharing.
The 38T was a Czech design and a decent tank. Later in the war when obsolete the chassis was used as the base for self propelled howitzers and tank destroyers. My all time favourite is the Merkava so it would be cool to see you paint that up.
Nice!! That's a local shop in my area! Sweet seeing content creators in my area. Good stuff
Glad I found this video. I didn't know hobby shops still existed in the bay area. TY!!!
Great to see another kit build! Nice job! I see a Panza paint comming soon!
OMG, that was the store I grew up on. You must be channeling my soul. Same taste in in stuff. I even had dioramas in the window. Still looks the same. Thank for this flash back. I built the mark 4.
Two best things in the world, super cute nerdie girl and a hobby shop!
I've been watching and enjoying your channel for awhile and had no idea you were in the bay area. I'm lucky enough to live just a few miles from Hobbies Unltd. The owner Al is incredible and has given so much back to our hobby! My vote is for painting the panzer. Great video!
Nice! It's such a fantastic store and Al was very kind when I spoke with him. I am very grateful that he let me film!
At one time I had purchased probably over 700-800.$ from the very same model shop the 1/35 scale military models in different brands. They are pretty nice and very knowledgeable. I'm glad to see hobby's unlimited being advertised, from my home town.
Very nice builds in that display cabinet.
Hi Angela, Great video! Welcome to the world of Fine Scale Modeling. Can't wait to see more of your modeling videos.
Thank you so much!
The armor display at the hobby store was awesome ! 👍
Good choice. The 38t is one of my favorites. Also love the Hobbies Unlimited shout-out!
That C-130 in the beginning, if it's 1/48 scale, looks like the one I built decades ago. As a Marine I painted it in Marine Corps camouflage. Also did an A-6 Intruder, AH-W Cobra in USMC colors. My pride and joy was a 1/35 M543A2C 5 ton 6x6 wrecker, of course it was done in Marine Corps 4 color camouflage, kinda like the full sized one I drove and had to paint prior to an inspection. Luckily I had access to a technical manual with the patterns in it.
Holy crap! I've been going to Hobbies Unlimited since they were on Hesperian in San Lorenzo!!! That places is the absolute BEST for models, paints, tools, you name it!
I live in NYC, which is, as another commenter pointed out, a hobby wilderness. I wish we had a hobby shop like the one you stopped in at the beginning of the video.
I'm so jealous, that is a great hobby shop! There is nothing like that within 300 miles of here.
Thank you Lovely Lady for showing Us that Good Looking ,well stocked, Hobby Shop. Look forward to your future Tank builds. Nice to see a Lovely Lady enjoy building model Kits. Well as for me Its time to say Over and Out.
Years ago my buddy used to work in that same Hobby Shop. Small world for sure.
You have fabulous Panzers...
Great looking shop. 👍
Personally I'm a British Churchill tank lover, but that 38(T) is a very beautiful model. Also, that shop was amazing btw! I miss when I was a kid spending hours in a similar shop here in Spain :) nice memories.
Thank you very much! Im lucky to still have one locally (it's still like 45 minutes away)
I love to watch you built 1:35 scale tank model kits.
Na das ist mal ne geile Model Show! Bitte mehr davon! Danke : )
Those fishnets were the highlight for me!
I'm jealous! Here where I live in South Carolina is a modeling wilderness and I have to get kits and such online. The link and length tracks in the 38t are a major improvement over the rubberband tracks in their older kits. I have two 38t's in the stash, Tristar's 1/35 with full interior and the Panda 1/16 kit.
So fun to see someone who loves toys as much as me!
👍Fantastic episode! 👍
I'm glad I found your channel. What a fantastic model store, fully stocked. And wow, I saw the Russian KV 2 on the shelf that would be a great one for you to build. I would do it in winter camouflage. Very interesting history, this tank. Good luck with the build...
thanks angi for your youtube site so good i just got the 1/35 scale italaeli cruseder ii tank with figures
Please do more tank models, amazing video I loved it.
Let's paint that Panzer. Really enjoyed seeing the hobby shopping trip.
Nice Czech tank. Germany integrated the 38T into their early panzer divisions replacing the Panzer I and IIs in several of the divisions. Link and link tracks are very easy to work with once you get the hang of it. The trick is let the glue set up for a few minutes before you attempt to bend the tracks. When you get around to painting the 38T use a black primer and then spray white into the larger open panels to give a modulation. When you get it all painted up try using the oil dot filter which adds even more modulation to a mono color. I am about to start building the Takom 1/35 Panther Ausf G late so happy building!
I think you would have fun with the Panzer. The fading gray paint and weathering will look sharp.
Great Hobby shop. If they had one down under I would visit.
The panzer is classic, so I would like you to paint the Pz38(t). Beautiful job on the build!
I’m happy to see there’s still a hobby shop like that in the Bay Area.
I like your enthusiasm for the hobby. My vote if for the Panzer to be painted!
Thanks for promoting Hobbies Unlimited. It is the last real hobby shop in the Bay Area. Al is a great guy and is all about his customers. Exciting to see my Valentine tank on youtube 6:02
38T for me, nice build.
You seemed to have gotten the train guy at the counter; he didn't really know that much about tanks or he would have told you the 38 was a Czech tank right then and you could have gone with the others. Next time, the Pzkpfw III Ausf L is a good kit to pick. I primarily have Dragon as the bulk of my collection but I built the Tamiya L as a Bergepanzer and the lower half goes together in typical Tamiya shake'n'bake style. The Panzer IIIs and IVs represent the mainstays of the German forces with the Stug III actually being the most produced line of vehicles. Tamiya's Stug III's are from 1995 so a bit dated; Takom, Das Werk, Border, MiniArt, and Rye Field all make Ausf G's tooled in the 2020s. The Dragons are very good but are pricey now. The iconic one is the Ausf G in case you ever get Stug fever. Which everyone should be exposed to for the sake of their immune system. Exposure to Stug fever builds up your resistance to the idea of never building a Stug.
Also, the rubber band tracks aren't as good for German tanks as it is harder to recreate a proper sag. And in some cases those bands can deteriorate over time and break.
Cool! Merci.
I am looking forward to watch more of your videos. You are amazing.
Thank you so much!
Love that hobbyshop. I drive up from San Jose, enduring all the traffic once a month to see whats new. Waiting on the Border Models 1/35 FW 190.
I would love to see the little Panzer 38(T) painted, this is the first time I have seen your channel but not the last...
nice work the tanks look good keep them coming
Thanks, will do!
amazing hobby shop!
Hello!, I'm Brazilian and I'm just starting out in plastic modeling now! You helped me a lot with this video! thank you very much ! 🙂
Happy to hear that!
nice work bench
Awesome build enjoyed that 👍👍🤟🤟
Glad you enjoyed it
I wish I had a hobby shop like that.
The one source I know for armored fighting vehicle progressions is the H Chapers of Advancer Squad Leader. There might be an online version of that would be awesome for model making, since there were so many variants of each model.
Awesome build my friend keep up the good work
Thanks 👍
Panzer 38(t) was designed and built by the Skoda works in Czechoslovakia. The Germans took over the existing tanks of the Czech army and kept building them for a while. They called it the "38(t)" after the year they annexed Czechoslovakia (1938) and the "t" is for "Tschechien" which is the German name for Czechoslovakia.
Well done, keep up the great work. FYI the Hetzer, a very formidable Tank Destroyer, was actually adapted using the Chassis of the Panzer 38(T) due directly to the 38T being so under powered. Also the 38T made up a large portion of the WWII Germany's Blitzkrieg; more so in the very beginning. It was considered a flaw once other nations started to produce better tanks than the 38T. Early on, it had it's place, but as time wore on it faded away much like how the bow and arrow were replaced by the gun. The 38T's chassis, however, did live on in the Hetzer and finished the War as a wonderful tank loved by its crews and hated by its enemies. Check out the Hetzer, I'm sure you'd like it just as much as it's very similar in size but the shape is a bit different as the Hetzer does not have a Turret...
nice collection
1:31 The Minibase Flanker models are awesome. You can buy additional 3d printed detail sets for those.
Oh my G! I know you from NRB blood on the clocktower, but was only peripherally aware of what you do outside of that. Now I just bought my very first gundam model, that I will build this weekend, so KZhead has been recommending me all sorts of model videos. It was absolutely lovely to come across you again, and I knew you were a nerd, but not that you were even a model nerd! You just got so much cooler than you already were in my mind! 🤩
Tanks for the memories.
😂😂😂😂Your like a kid in a candy store with all those models, enjoyed watching you getting all excited!!!!❤️
ive been to this shoppie before when i lived in alameda!
I am very impressed with your model building skills and photography. I seems the most cumbersome way possible to hold a pencil or similar tool. Public school spoof? Looking forward to more of your work.
Wow! I'd be destitute having access to such temptation. Cool kit.
Lol my wallet does get hit hard every time I shop there!
For a first time tank Builder or someone who’s looking for a fast build with great results, you picked the right one. Nice build, you are very talented. Just sub’d and am looking forward to more.
Awesome, thank you!
That is totally AWESOME, a young lady building scale models, that is so cool to see that, GOOD ON YOU, I wish there was more woman like you, Much ❤️ to you, and ENJOY IT!!
The title of the thumbnail is what got me watching this video :)
The 38T in panzer-grey with a winter white-wash camouflage would be interesting. Would not be as boring as simply all grey.
wow what a shop and what a choice you could literally spend days in there browsing
I've been shopping here for over 20 years, back when the shop was on Hesperian. My 8 year old bought his first kit here a couple of months ago.
Merkava. I'd be interested in seeing that.
Pz 38()T, I think would be more of a challenge.
I just stumbled across your channel and I really love the content you do so much so I've just subscribed
Yay! Thank you!
Hi Angela. I have watched exactly two of your videos, The first one was the Merkava and the second was this one, Panzer 38(t). I' have always been a tank fan, and always will. I did like both of these videos, and I have subscribed as well. You should try out the panzer for painting. Looking forward to it! Thanks
It is quite crazy but my first 40k Ork battle wagon was a 1/48 Semovente spg. An Italian self propelled gun that looked shoddy and clunky. I built a tray on the back, hung a couple of big shootas off the side using 40k oil drums as cupolas and had ork and grot gunners. This was back in the 90's when Orks had no vehicle models. Still have it.
Amazing tank build so glad I subscribed to your channel.
Awesome, thank you!
You can't go wrong with Tamiya models & paint, awesome stuff! I had gotten a RC Panzer IV. It is quite detailed for a entry level RC tank. It can shoot air soft BB's or you can fight a friend in an infera red setting. Star Wars fan uh? I had modeled a AT-AT in a 3D design software "Inventor" & one day would like to 3D print it.
You are my go to tank kits reviewer
The 38T was the chassis used to create the Hetzer light tank destroyer. The Hetzer would be a nice model to go with this one.
I built that Pz III kit in the late 90's and it's really nice. Shame I don't work there, I could have told you about the subjects. If you like Shermans, try one of those Israeli M51's, they were insane but also a Sherman Firefly if you could get one, would be awesome
Obviously an beginner, she doesn't have models just lying around waiting to be built. She actually said " let's find a tank to build", I'm in love!
I thought the same when seeing gaps in this build - plus the idea of painting a fully assembled kit would be a nightmare - imaging trying to paint the supoerstructure behind the bogies and drive spocket. Nice detail on the model though - my first visit so please do not take this as negative - it is not aimed as such. I have never made a tank - only biplanes, props and jets and can only say well done. I have one waiting to build at the moment - a Viper mk1 from Battlestar Gallactica and have to wait to get the right kit to build it as currently unemployed (I bought it 4 years ago with redundancy/severance pay)
The Panzer 38t by Italieri was the first 1/35 tank I ever built so I have a soft spot for it, so much so that I have just finished building the Hobby Boss 1/16 Panzer 38t with full interior. Very nice. A few pitfalls to look out for, careful when you are building the engine, because you have to turn it around....nearly got me, and I had some trouble with the front glacis plate....looks great though...
5:41 the display of the tanks
