I grew up in the NY/NJ tristate area in the late 70s early 80s. I spent so much time in the city when it was safe and fun and culturally rich. I moved to Texas 8 years ago. So I see what’s going on from both States perspective. A open border and dangerous illegal migrants in NY. It breaks my heart so see what’s happening. Breaks my heart 💔. I was in NYC last December. It was very crowded and people acted awful. The Sofitel we stay at when we go there had bugs and was dirty. Even the once fancy bar was dirty and gross. I saw some younger women elbowing people on the sidewalks, even a poor blind woman. I could not get Ubers to restaurant reservations hours ahead, so we had to cancel and eat at the dirty Sofitel. So sad. There was a fight in the bathroom line at Hamilton on Broadway. I might try again in 10 years. I used to love it in NYC.

That’s why I live in southern Indiana, 14 years to date as a retired senior. Counting SuperWalmart we have 4 pharmacies and 4 grocery stores in a 2 mile radius. I have never encountered any frank shoplifting incident here, or even when my family lived in NW Indiana to raise my kids there for over 20 years Watching this bothers me to no end in behalf of fellow citizens, imagine if you actually witness one happening before you or seeing a gun being brandished at you. This has to be causing an insurmountable degree of psychological dysfunction in many residents in their lifetime. I would be suffering PTSD with even one incident. But in Indiana our 2nd Amendment is alive and well watching our backs and fronts. That’s why criminals aren’t too cozy about trying their luck in most places in the state, well maybe a little bit in Indy though I have close friends who live there too and they are not complaining so far.
