The man in the moon (1991)
Rural Louisiana, summer of 1957. At 14, Dani is coming of age. Life gets sweeter when 17-year-old Court Foster and his mom move into the vacant farm next door. Court likes Dani's high spirits and direct way, and though he has a man's responsibilities on the farm, they go off swimming sometimes. The waters of adolescence are deeper than Dani realizes as hers and Court's feelings get jumbled. Then Mother Nature throws wrenching surprises at Dani, and she must come to terms with new emotions (IMDb)

Maureen and Court both treated Dani disrespectfully..Maureen for one should have stayed on her side on the fence because she knew Dani was experiencing her first love..As far as Court goes he would have continued playing around with Dani if Maureen hadn't came around flashing her eyelashes at him.. However, I just love the way Dani comes out in her lil pink dress trying to put the moves on a very scared looking Court.His expression spoke volumes in my opinion..
Court would have found a girlfriend when he started school and still dropped Dani. He was a coming of age man ready for a sexual relationship. No way was Dani ready for that.

Court was a jerk because he totally gave Dani the wrong idea about their relationship. He only liked her as a friend, but he was attracted to her, and gave her that kiss because he knew that was what she wanted. He felt a deeper connection with her sister. It made sense though, as they were closer in age and they had more in common. However it was entirely wrong of them to get together knowing that Dani had feelings for him.
It’s 1950’s people didn’t care back then unlike today where everyone is so judgemental
@Pure sadly, they never had the chance to do anything else because of Courts early demise. I felt terrible for Dani because of how betrayed she felt, and yes it was a betrayal, but at the same time, sometimes you can't control who you fall in love with. They clearly connected on a level that Court and Dani didn't, and there was a lot of chemistry between them. How sad for Maureen to finally find a love with someone who really got her and didn't just want to get in her pants, to feel like this was her person, and then to have it taken away like that.
Maureen could have had anyone she wanted and she chose to sleep with someone here sister was in love with. And to add insult to injury she was about to leave for college where she would be introduced to a whole new world with guys from all walks of life. It’s not just about a boy… being capable of something like that speaks volumes about the person you are. She’s selfish and cut throat.
