The actors of Scorpion and Sub Zero were actually martial artists and did their stunts that help makes the scene even more cool
And the guy playing Scorpion is 60yrs old
The guy who played sub zero is joe taslim one of the most skilled fighters who was in the raid redemption and the night comes for us both movies had him get absolutely pummelled by actors who use the most violent fighting style (SILAT) used by Indonesian military as a kill fighting style And as abit of info and fact during the raid every punch kick knee elbow or throw from the raid was landing on the actors as they were skilled fighters and stunt men And scorpions actor is 60 years old and still does his own stunts and still had the sword training And lastly the look of scorpion in his samurai inspired armour is an automatic win for me Cole hated him so much tho moany stupid and unlikable

I love this whole scene. You'd think that Scorpion shows up as a revenant for vengeance, but he could have done that at any time. Instead he shows up when his descendant is about to experience the same pain he did long ago against Sub Zero. So on one side he probably did show up seeking vengeance, but he also showed up to save his descendants wife and child.
I think there was a scene that explained that Scorpion's spirit was stuck in the Neatherrealm unless one of his descendant's blood made contact with the kunai, which is why he shows up right after Cole grabbed the blade.

It’s really hilarious because it’s the only line he has in English. Apparently Scorpion has been hitting Rosetta Stone during his time in Netherrealm. It’s ok though. When you do Mortal Kombat, you must have The Line and you must have The Music.

I know that this movie is not really the most loved but I actually enjoyed it and I hope to see a sequel to this one day and hopefully if it does maybe it could be better.
Last time I heard they are currently working on the screenplay for the sequel.

Movie could've been better. Still, I'm glad we actually got to see the mortal part in "Mortal" Kombat. Actual fatalities, brutalities and the work instead of something that looked more at home in a Power Rangers series. If we could get more movies like this, but the stories of the animated movies, I'd say it would be perfect. I also don't mind Cole as well. Definitely not the most interesting character and I hope they change focus for next film. But I'm glad they didn't make him a pussy that had like a no kill rule or didn't have his own brutal moves. I wouldn't mind seeing him return even as just simply a rostered fighter.
I would say it was things like another rando new character that hollywood just insists the audience needs as an IN, the convoluted arcana tattoo thing, etc. I loved subzero and scorpion. The rest is...well, the rest.
As a fan of Joe Taslim, i still felt it was a pity that this movie can't explore his full potential in fight. I mean he looks way faster and stronger in the raid and the night come for us

Scorpion is a spirit or a spectre stuck in the Netherrealm. In the games Quan Chi brought him back to the earth realm. But in the movie there is no Quan Chi to do the same. So instead they portrayed it as when the kunai which has the spirit of Hanzo unites with the blood of a Shirai Ryu descendant, Scorpion will rise from the netherrealm. So Cole played a rather important part in the movie.

Film is raw. 🔥 Yeah, there’s flaws and we’re in the age where any and every flaw is used to doom something, but I promise this is going to age like fine wine. Especially if they succeed in the sequel(s).

Fun fact: Joe Taslim (The actor who played Bi-Han/Sub-Zero in the 2021 movie) said that he wanted the character's backstory to be explored more in the movie, because he knew that Bi-Han in the games was more human with a deep personality.
The fact that the actor for scorpion is almost 60 and he did all the stunts himself is insane.
I like how expressive Joe Taslim is with his eyes in this film. The way he moves has a certain grace about it.

It's very telling to me, having seen the movie, that Scorpion was the only person in this entire movie to have hurt Sub-Zero both as a human and as a demon of the Netherrealm. Yes, some of the other Kombatants got hits in but he was the only one to make Sub-Zero bleed and cry out (to any degree) in pain, let alone kill him as he did at the end of this fight. Makes me wonder how formidable he was as a ninja at the peak of his game to be so skilled against Sub-Zero both before and after his death. And yes, I'm very well aware that Sub-Zero is extremely formidable for that to be the case too, don't get me wrong. :)
I have seen the original mortal kombat movies, and even the first few episodes of the tv series, and I like this one so much better that I cried

This was a good film. Most of the people who complained, didn't realize it was building up for the tournaments. They were literally gathering the fighters and you can see at the end, Cole is going to invite Johnny Cage. Plus, we can't have everything in one movie! Think about it, how many characters are in MK? The stories throughout the years and this version of sub zero is supposed to die. So, I want to see Noob Saibot in the next movie and Quin Chi.

Not a fan of the other MK films (too cheesey and bad acting), but this movie is badass. I've watched it over 100 times. The man that played Scorpion nailed the role. He really captures Scorpion's rage in some scenes.
The original 95 film was 100 times better than this film. The only good about this film was this scene. Other than that, the story, some generic characters and Cole was just bad.
