Scenes where the world is slowed down are though cool, make the speedsters move at a normal or even slower speed and the audience has to kind of "imagine" how fast they're actually going

I gave them a fair chance because people said they were the 2 best arrowverse seasons by far, but they felt much less airtight and much more cringeworthy CW drama focused than Flash S1 (which is saying something). I'd say Flash S1 is actual tiers above the second best season in the arrowverse. Definitely feels like it had the most thought, planning and care put into it, and the execution was impeccable

    • I can remember watching that and being mind-blown, to the point that during the COVID lockdown I would listen to Sweet Dreams are made of this for hours on end. X-men's Quicksilver is easily one of my favourite underused characters (along with Gambit) and I was really disappointed that they hospitalised him in Dark Phoenix for being too overpowered, and then never went through with the whole Magneto-is-his-dad storyline. I adore every scene he's in, but I feel like he was in desperate need of more screen time and he got unceremoniously ditched. I was also disappointed in the half-hearted slow-motion in Dark Phoenix.

  • I really love what Paramount did with Sonic for his speed. What I love most is how different each scene of him using his power is and how it can relate to how fast he's going. Like when playing pin pong by himself, you see after images. But later when running from Robotnik, he is leaving a blue trail. It's also pretty neat how for the close up's you can see how fast he's moving his legs, but then within seconds he is in another position doing something else like for example in the same chase, he is running on the great wall of China and starts jumping from one side to the other or how he goes from a sprint to suddenly sliding under a bus and immediately back to running. Both the bar and roof top speed slow downs are great because the bar also uses after images and sometimes a blue trail to show he could go even faster, and you can get a sense of how much time passed from when Sonic first destroyed the robots to when they finally hit the ground.

  • I think the elongation of the surroundings that happens to the ezra miller flash in the flash movie when he decides to accelerate really fast is a genius idea and actually makes some scientific sense with the relativistic affects happening to him when he goes that fast.

    @varanjitsingh9663@varanjitsingh966310 ай бұрын
    • I mean they're not even going anywhere near relativistic speeds in those shots. I agree it works well, but I'd argue it far more effectively captures the feeling of tunnel vision, your eyes refocussing, and your mind getting primed to deal with faster speeds. Those small biological and psychological reactions may not *_literally_* make the world shift and distort, but they make you experience it in a fundamentally different way. It's sort of like the zoom-in shot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 which, by physically moving the camera while adjusting it's FoV, keeps Quill's face the same relative size in-frame, but by the start and end of the shot everything about it looks entirely different. It's the same thing, captured in two entirely faithful ways, but there are obscene levels of distortion between the two.

Besides Mr Snyder already made an injured barry go faster than light in his justice league so we at least know he can go that fast.

The time travel scene is so good that even if I am watching it on my phone I feel like I am inside the screen looking at him from just a little distance, my eyes get drawn in, the music, the build up, the visual effects, the coolness of it all is jaw dropping and feels me with awe everytime I watch it. I'm guessing this is a new channel but i really like it and would love for him to make more videos like this with different powers like heat vision or flight in movies.

    @EonwulfGames@EonwulfGames10 ай бұрын
  • One thing I don't really like anymore about speedsters is how they always slow down time for us to see from their perspective. They seem slow now, because I'm so used to the slowed perspective. I like Makari from Eternals, because they very rarely do this in fact I don't think they do it period. She looks faster than CW/DCEU Flash and both Quicksilvers. I also like how in the scene where Flash draws on the guys face. You see his hand for like less than a split second. My brain could barely process that and it made me realize how quick this guy is.

    @khumokwezimashapa2245@khumokwezimashapa224510 ай бұрын
    • That scene where DCEU Flash ran to Gotham, they made his legs move in slow motion while the background went by so fast. Why? That just looks so fake. Just like when they held up the teenage Clark in the first Superman to show his super speed. Each step needs to actually hit the ground. No sliding! When my books are adapted to movies, and the studio works on Speedstress, I'm going to supervise the production to make sure there's no sliding effects with Felicity Velo. She runs in brake heels for crying out loud!

      @SeanWheeler100@SeanWheeler10010 ай бұрын
    • So like....thats a difficult one right? Because it depends on the context. If the character is moving so fast that his velocity is sending his one step thousands of kilometers an hour, than yeah, The flash running through gotham would take one long step that would make Gotham look like a blur as he took it. Remmember in the context of super speed they are traveling as vast distances with dramatically less movement, so if you were to speed up the camera to make THEM look slow, you can hardly see their surroundings as they are passing at insane speeds from one slow step at the speedster velocity.

      @aster1760@aster176010 ай бұрын
    • @@SeanWheeler100 The thing is realistically a Speedster should be sliding/gliding through the air, they're super fast but still super strong since legs are muscles. When someone runs they're pushing the body forward and if you have super legs you're pushed further forward before he gravity takes a hold of you and makes you put your foot down again. So like a normal person would be 121212 but a speedster would be like 131313 going farther before needing to take another two at least pretty sure it works like that.

      @l0sts0ul89@l0sts0ul8910 ай бұрын
    • @@SeanWheeler100to kinda add to my primary comment imma reply to you by adding that.....do remmember that velocity is something important. If your character is HYPER fast, if you have the camera slowing down the speed of the speedsters movements, then the world should be ZOOOMING by at blinding speed. Velocity dictates that if something is moving faster than it's strides carry them farther. If your camera is slowing down a character who can say run 10000000m/s in a step at a jogging speed for them per second. If you slow down the camera enough to catch them slowly taking that step jogging pace stel you will still be seeing 1000000m/s slowed only by rate of the cameras speed. Thus your character will then be perceived as sliding when they are not. Interesting stuff eh?

      @aster1760@aster176010 ай бұрын
    • @@aster1760 No, superspeed is not travelling further distances in less steps. It's taking more steps in less time. The Flash isn't on roller skates, and his legs aren't as stretchy as Plastic Man's. He's moving really fast while time has stopped around him. Look at how fast Dash's legs move in The Incredibles. And Sonic's legs turn into a figure eight pattern when he runs because his legs are moving too fast for the Sega Genesis' framerate. A speedster running in slow motion should only be shown while everything else is in a standstill like in scenes parodying Quicksilver's scenes. When they showed Barry running from Central City to Gotham, they should have sped up Ezra's movements, not slowed him down. The slow Flash on a fast moving ground doesn't look cool, it looks fake. And to top it all off, Ezra doesn't even know how to run!

      @SeanWheeler100@SeanWheeler10010 ай бұрын

  • I personally love Smallville's speed scenes, the way Clark moves at a slightly slower pace than normal, while everything else stops is great and really shows the scenes from his perspective, because he has enhanced senses, so he can react to that speed and that's why he seems to be in slow motion... it is also shown well with other fast moving characters who are as fast, if not faster then he is... Flash being faster, just accelerates away from him, while he and the world stay standing... or the Goddess Isis, possessing Lois, moves at superspeed, sees Clark and can't keep up, even with her godly farsight/vision, nor her physical speed...

He's not just running really fast like a normal person, he's propelling and throwing himself forward with every step he takes. That's part of what makes it look a bit weird at times, but I think its cooler in concept and removes the really weird times that the Flash TV show had with speedsters just sprinting on a green screen.

When I first watched ZS Justice League the "wow" shot for me was when Flash was saving all the people who were going up those stairs, and we see him moving super fast to protect them from all the debris. Lightning fast as he should be. However when Flash fights Superman at the monument the movement of Supes has always looked a bit strange to me.

    @Infisly@Infisly10 ай бұрын
    • That scene when he fought superman is to shows how their speed scale in justice league. We knew Diana can evade bullet so some Wonder woman fans thought Diana can go super speed too, snyder reinsist that Diana never move as fast as other speedster did. At most, she's moving same speed as fastest bullet. In comic, her speed is very inconsistent. Sometime she's move as fast as superman but another comic she's only slightly faster than deathstroke. Meanwhile we saw flash can move normally when superman try to punch him, Barry never got a single punch but instead he try to push superman, superman got pushed back but he changed his flight ability to float and thus its like pushing a concrete, Barry got his body thrown back. You can rewatch that scene, superman already at his max speed but for flash its Just normal speed
