On Sol 43 (April 4) Perseverance Rover sent new Images showing the Mars Helicopter finally on the Martian soil, confirming the touchdown.
This was after the rover finished charging it up to 100%.
Now NASA is waiting to see if the craft can survive surface temperatures down to -130ºF (-90ºC) on its own. The charge will help to power the helicopter heater so that it protects key components such as the battery and some of the sensitive electronics from harm at very cold temperatures.
The team will check the temperatures and the battery recharge performance over the next couple of days. If it all looks good, then it's onto the next steps: unlocking the rotor blades, and testing out all the motors and sensors.

OMG I'm so excited to see it fly. Thanks NASA & JPL and caltech
0:55 "That's one small step for a micro-helicopter, one giant leap for drones."
🤣🤣🤣
A big thanks to all engineers from caltech, jpl and nasa for making this possible..
Can’t wait for the first flight! With a special condition on mars we hope ingenuity will survive!
What will be the date for the first flight🇳🇱🇪🇺
Great job guys. Almost there! The fact that the helicopter is in its staging area means 1/2 of the battle is won. It survived the flight to Mars, the landing and now it’s deployed. Good luck to us all. Humanity can be proud of the technology.
👏 congrats for touchdown...
I really love Planet Mars ❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️
Boas cenas Terkrecoms ! Congratulations.
Touch down Ingenuity, very cool stuff, in about a week or so, Ingenuity will make history, one for the books.
wow amazing very nice great
Did not know helicopters can fly w/o air. At least nasa should have attached a temperature gauge so that we can see the temp
Could a dust devil blow the candocopter over, toppel it over !
Congrats touchdown
Sensacional 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I still don't get why there's no photos of ingenuity under the rover when it first touched down..
SO THEY ARE GOING TO LEAVE IT OUT THERE FOR OVER A WEEK IN THE HARSH MARTIAN ELEMENTS. cold, dust. does not seem to be a good idea.
Haha now we can we have 3 AI ALIENS ! GREAT JOB ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ JUST THINK THIS LIL ROBOTS ARE ON MARS RN !!! PHEWWWW !!!!
Hello
Hi
ശുഭം നേരുന്നു.
This is taking way to long to just fly a helicopter. This can’t be the best technology that nasa has. NASA needs to show the real stuff it has and also disclose the ET stuff already!!
People are so gullible.. they're not on Mars they're on Devon Island Canada.. wake up people.
Why not taking a drone fully charged ?? is less weight and volume.
The DJI MM2 ......... only 9 ozs
No, that would require more weight and volume, the battery would have to have been much bigger. Considering weight constraints due to the thin atmosphere, your idea would guarantee mission failure.
I am wondering what is the purpose of spending so much money on this Mars project? There are new products developed, to be sure. But who wants to travel to Mars for weeks and then live in a bubble due to lack of oxygen there. There are many needs here on earth that could use those dollars AND the intelligence and abilities these scientists and explorers exhibit.
