In this video, we are going to discuss 10 autonomous tractors, farming machines, and robots designed to replace or assist humans in agriculture. These farming equipment include autonomous tractors, weeders, harvesters, and others with multiple purposes.
Agrobot E-series
The Agrobot E-series, the first pre-commercial electric-powered robotic harvester designed for gently harvesting strawberries.
Built by Agrobot from Spain, the Agrobot E-series is designed to carry out its tasks autonomously and uses real-time artificial intelligence to determine the ripeness of fruit.
FARMDROID FD20
The FarmDroid is a fully automatic robot that can take care of both sowing and mechanical weed control. It is designed to help farmers reduce the costs of sowing and weeding crops while also doing it in a carbon dioxide-neutral and ecological way.
The FD20 is a solar-powered machine, it is equipped with four solar panels which produce enough power for up to 24 hours of daily operation.
AgXeed’s AgBot
The AgXeed’s AgBot is an autonomous robotic tractor designed to make farmers more efficient and sustainable. For the machine to perform its tasks, AgXeed provides an online, cloud-based planning tool for optimal path planning and machine management.
Dino
Dino is an autonomous electric-powered weeding robot for large-scale vegetable crops.
Dino is built by France-based Naïo Technologies designs, manufacturers, and markers of agricultural robotics co-built with farmers and consumers.
Ted
Another one from Naïo Technologies is Ted, the first autonomous, 100% electric high-clearance machine dedicated to the mechanical weeding of vines without the use of herbicides.
The machine is powered by lithium batteries. It can drive at a speed of up to 5 km/h (or 3mph) and has an average operating speed of 2.5 hours per hectare.
DJI Agras T30
Manufactured by the world's leading drone company, DJI, the Agras T30 is a 30L autonomous agriculture spraying drone that can spray 40 acres/hour.
Using DJI's digital agriculture solutions, the T30 helps reduce fertilizer use and increase yield with effective, data-driven best practices.
John Deere's Autonomous Electric Tractor
Designed by one of the world’s agricultural heavyweights, John Deere this cabless electric tractor produces a total output of 500 kilowatts which is equivalent to 680 horsepower. This puts it up there with today’s largest high horsepower tractors.
Thanks to the electric drive, this futuristic tractor has zero emissions, and its noise levels are extremely low.
FarmBot Genesis
For those who like to grow crops on their own, this autonomous all-in-one farming machine is for you. FarmBot Genesis is a robot farming machine created for everyone to grow food.
Case IH autonomous tractor
Case IH autonomous tractor is another autonomous tractor developed as a solution to the increasing lack of skilled labor to work long hours on large farms in some parts of the world.
The vehicle has an onboard system that automatically plots the most efficient paths depending on the terrain, obstructions, and other machines in use in the same field. These paths can be adjusted remotely by an operator via a desktop computer or portable tablet interface.
AutoAgri IC-Series
The AutoAgri IC is an autonomous implement carrier with an electric drivetrain designed to reduce running cost, soil compaction, and carbon footprint.
It can carry implements up to 2,000 kg behind its front wheels with a mid-mount standard CAT-2 3-point hitch. Its 3-point hitch, PTO, and hydraulics ensure compability with a wide range of implements in the market.

  • 2:40 I promote this design. You can put a Operator -station in the front 3Point Hitch you have a simple Tractor. You can put a forklift and you have a forklift , You can make it of a much bigger part and you have any kind of harvester.

  • The problem with a lot of those machines is that when they brake down, you can no longer repair them yourself like before. This is because most a lot of things are connected to the software and you can not simply replace them and hope it will work. You become dependent on the manufacturer of the machine, that can than overcharge the farmers for repairs.

  • The stuff used for specific crops, fertilizer drone, and farmbot are the ones that will probably be adopted the most compared to the general-purpose autonomous tractors. As tractors tend to work in places with way more unpredictable hazards than strawberry fields or grape vineyards, and we all know self-driving cars can be dumb.

  • Welcoming theses robots. But main problems remain the same: -avoid soil compaction -save space and work in small plots too. - work in monoculture and non monoculture environment -keep maintenance price low -allow right to repair, adapt by the farmer…

  • They always like to call out a "shortage of manual labor force" but actually traditional farming has been heavily suffocated by regulations and taxing, which forces farmers to pay lower salaries, forcing workers out of the sector. And that is actually the plan of the government, because they want to deploy this "smart and green" technology. Meanwhile, electricity is still coming from carbon emitting sources, because nuclear is abandoned for fear of accidents and renewables are underdelivering as expected.

    • It's not obeying the regulations that's the biggest issue - it's the time to fill in all the paperwork. Some regulations seem to have marginal benefit or there is no cost benefit calculation. Some have been very worthwhile (tip prevention on equipment). Others want to impose the same rules on a farm as on an urban block. Even with regulations, it could be ok, but big ag companies squeeze the margin to negative. If a farm was going well, expanding it is not possible because of how much is being bought up as an investment or showcase

  • The major issue with many of these new tech is the antiquated batteries that are used. Until a new battery system is created to account for weight, ambient temperature, and storage capacity of the battery, this tech will always be limited. When hydrocarbon fuels are used to power this new tech, it only solves the labor issue.

    • some of these farming solutions can use older battery technology like nickel iron cells. while terrible in capacity, on scales that large that can be mitigated though more charging or in the case of the automated grow bed robot, be set somewhere out of the way, and the batteries are still in use by railroads with some lasting more than 100 years although the average is 50 years. no other battery technology is able to do that. not even lithium ion.
