  • Growing up on a farm in South Africa - all our dogs was boerboels... our big boy bred the most amazing pups that went to all neigbouring farms! And our female was the most amazing mother - not just to her pups but to us as kids as well! She was so overprotective and maternal over us kids! And the BEST guard dogs ever! If anyone unknown ever entered our property they went mad and strangers feared them! Amazing breed 🐶❤

  • Yes they are all that, but they are also TRUE guard dogs with really strong guarding instincts. They are NOT for the first time dog owner and require constant training and supervision so that they don’t go after the wrong person. Now if you live on a farm and have a problem with lions or genosqua, that’s the dog for you.

    • Ya. The boerboel is very alert and is a defensive dog, not an attacking dog. Meaning, he barks and warns not to come close, but won't chase. If you're dumb enough not to take the warning, you will be eaten.

    • I first heard the name of this dog because Patti LaBelle had one that she called the Dog Whisperer for help with how wild the dog was. I wish people did more research on dog’s temperaments before getting one. Nope, it’s the ‘intimidation’ factor yet they rarely have strong enough personalities to deal firmly with them as puppies, socializing them right away.

    • @@gunsncars469 mine is male 11 month weighs over 64kj big pup 🐶 how did u socialize urs? we live in the country just barks at everyone that walks past or likes to jump on ppl who are walking past so now we started to take him in the car and shopping but if anyone come over to the house is a game over for them lol 😆

      @tiggyadventures@tiggyadventures2 ай бұрын
    • @tiggyadventures You've got a little monster, he's going to be a big boy. We're in the country as well. We tried socializing him as a young pup, but anytime someone tried to pet him his would pee all over the floor. It took me a long tim to put his collar on, or leash on him without him peeing.... Every time now, I point and tap to the side of my neck and say collar. Ours only barks when he's playing with one of his toys. Have you tried a shock collar? When people come over our house, maybe once a month, if they're standing he sniffs the crap out of them, if they're sitting on the couch, he's got his drooly face all over their lap wagging he's tail wanting to be petted. He's never been a guard dog. It's as if we got a golden retriever with the annoying parts of a boerboel. Mine doesn't listen unless I have the shock collar remote in my hand. He knows when I give him an order, but 90% of the time he won't do it, or he will leave the kitchen but come right back. If I reach or the remote, he listens, even if he's not wearing the collar.

      @gunsncars469@gunsncars4692 ай бұрын
    • @@gunsncars469 omg everything you said about urs mine does exactly the same I thought it was just our boerboel yes we have a shock collar we only use it if he lose in the country in the feild next to us or if he getting dominant with the males he listens to all the commands then 😅 other then he loves jumping on ppl and we want to stop that tried everything but once the remote comes out he stops and listens boerboel are natrual at guarding but he a big softy always wants to know who coming round we have a walk way for the public so anyone walks past he will start barking at them in a friendly way but most ppl ignore him as he big if anyone comes round we have to put him in crate coz he will jump on them and manbye knock them over but I am not sure if that is a puppy stage I use to take him for a walk but I'm female only 5.1 and he pulls me sometimes and if anyone walks up to us he stares and then tries to jump on them as they walk past so we just want him to stop that but he does walk right next to my leg and does heal when told to but most time I have the E collar on him and and sometimes he won't react to that unless he gets shocked 🤣 but I do say he is the best breed I've ever had very intelligent and always aware how old is yours? Mine use to pee on everyone who ever use to pet him but now he over that stage thank god we didn't socialize him much as a pup as we feared dog attack but now we are but he so big he rip ur arm out if not careful 🤣 my bro is a big guy so he walks him mostly but other then that just follows us around everywhere always wants to know where u are and what you doing is yours the same? Oh and i forgot to mention always hungry lol just eats his food and wants urs aswel 😆

    • Prong collars help but you have to start early. Or so I've been told. 💙

    • @@melissavaughn1510not necessarily, and you can’t just slap a prong on leash pressure has to be taught. Most dogs don’t need a prong collar people are just lazy or trainers are uneducated & go to that right away. ** I USE prongs & ecollars & both tools REQUIRE a lot of training mainly for person because I guarantee at least 70% of people are using prong collars /e collars incorrectly.

  • Got the chance to work with 2 of these dogs for a year, and i absolutely fell in love with the breed. Once my 2 dogs i have now are gone this will be the breed i get next. Their gaurding insticts are next level, and a bad guy would only have to take one look at them before changing their minds.

    • Fighting dogs. People are so d umb. They breed these dogs specifically for fighting. They use the name of gaurd dog as a cover. With electric fencing and modern tec, there's no reason to breed "protection" dogs. The dogo Argentino is a fighting dog breed by natzis. Breeding a dog all white is counterintuitive to hunting. Its all white for a reason. The dogo Argentino became famous after the 1940s. What group of people fled to Argentino in the 1940s?

  • Back when I was a teenager my uncle was the only breeder in Canada, brought a couple back from Africa with him and sold them privately for big big money. Best family/guard dog around. I miss our boy Memphis. Went down at 13 years old around 180-200 pounds.
